“Half a Billion Years is a Long Time”
Scientists say that the final formation of the Appalachian Mountains began around one-half billion years ago. In April, you will have the opportunity to hear and see that story with far less investment of your time and a great deal more musical listening pleasure.
Lonesome Records is proud to present, Appalachia: Music from Home a stimulating collection of music and song, This CD features artists such as Jean Ritchie, Ralph Stanley, Dock Boggs, Carl Martin; contemporary songwriters Darrell Scott, Robin and Linda Williams, and Blue Highway; and an exciting collection of new singers and musicians ---all celebrating the grand diversity of life and music in the magnificent Appalachian Mountains that they call home.
This CD is a musical companion to the PBS film series, Appalachia: A History of Mountains and People, scheduled to be shown on PBS Television throughout the country starting April 9 and running consecutively on April 16, 23, and 30. Check you local stations for times.
While the Agee Film Project PBS series looks at the environmental birth and life of the Appalachian Mountains, the CD Music From Home, explores the territory of the heart. And so, the songs reflect the age-old struggles of love in any century, and the search for self and a place to call home!
Still very much affected by the musical traditions of heritage, Appalachian voices and artists of today explore these questions with new songs and new energies born very much of the 21st Century---- artists like, the Midnight Ramblers, Molly Slemp, Clack Mountain String Band, Evan Carawan, and Mitch Barrett.
This is a timeless Appalachian musical collection that you don’t want to miss! It will be in your collection for years to come!!
Appalachia: Music From Home will be available April 1st. For more information visit www.lonesomerecords.org
