dEB:
IT WOULD BE MY GUESS THAT THE DISTANCE FROM THE AIR ENTRY TO THE SHARP
FIPPLE EDGE IS JUST OFF A LITTLE. THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO CHANGE THIS.
ONE WAY IS TO CUT BACK TOWARD THE MOUTH TO INCREASE THJIS DISTANCE OR
TWO YOU MIGHT ADD SOME CLAY TO THE FIPPLE EDGE TO SHORTEN THIS
DISTANCE. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO SIMPLE ANSWER
gOOD LUCK.

sweet tone from it, but at other times you get this weird, echoing
sound...not breathy, or airy, but like another notes, very high and
screechy, comes in. It happens whether I blow hard or softly, but will
go away if I tilt the mouthpiece up or down sometimes.

and before firing they didn't have the "extra" note. But one other
ocarina I had DID have this happen before firing, tinkered with the
mouthpiece, and eventually it disappeared.

caused it...I basically redid the whole airway.
