BILL KNOWLTON’S BLUEGRASS RAMBLE TO CELEBRATE ITS 32ND ANNIVERSARY WITH WCNY
RADIO BARNDANCE
Bill Knowlton’s “Bluegrass Ramble,” a staple on Syracuse NY’s “Classic
FM” since Jan. 21, 1973, will celebrate its 32nd anniversary with a radio barn
dance on Sunday, January 16th 2005.
The show will be recorded WCNY-FM, 506 Old Liverpool Road, Liverpool NY from 2
to 5 p.m. before a studio audience.
Three area bands will perform:
SENECA COUNTY BLUEGRASS: the host band at the annual “Pickin’ In the
Pasture” Bluegrass Festival held each August at the Alexander Farm in Lodi NY.
THE TIRED HANDS STRING BAND: Specializing in the old time country music bands
and balladeers of the 1920s and 30s.
THE MC CARTHY – PAISLEY BAND: A popular Central New York bluegrass ensemble
that appeared at the annual New York State Fair Bluegrass Ramble show last
August.
Neither tickets nor reservations are required to attend the Bluegrass Ramble
radio barn dance, and families are encouraged to be part of the audience.
The barn dance will be broadcast the following Sunday night, January 23rd from 9
p.m. to midnight over WCNY-FM (91.3), WUNY-FM, Utica (89.5), WJNY-FM (90.9)
Watertown, and on the worldwide web at www.wcny.org.
Known as “Mr. Bluegrass Of Central New York,” Bill Knowlton emcees 14
bluegrass festivals every summer season in the Northeast United States. A
“Broadcaster Of the Year” award winner by the International Bluegrass Music
Association (IBMA), Knowlton was selected to participate in the IBMA
“Leadership Bluegrass” seminar this year in Nashville, Tennessee.
