Eighty years ago this week Ernest V. Stoneman and company journeyed to New York
City to cut recordings for Edison and Okeh Records. He did ten numbers for
Edison (available on a County CD) and four for Okeh, all between Jan 24th thru
29th.
Eighty years ago, on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1927, Fiddlin' John Carson cut
twelve sides for Okeh Records, in Atlanta.
Uncle Dave Macon & the Fruit Jar Drinkers made the Dixie Dewdrop's only
recordings with a string band, in New York City May 7th thru 11th; eighty years
ago in 1927.
All of this happened before the Bristol "Big Bang" sessions of July and August
1927!!
