Welcome to the Orchestra Library Information (OLI) Yahoo Group, an online forum for small and mid-budget regional and community orchestra libraries. On this site, members are encouraged to post questions about how to find the publisher of a work, instrumentation, duration, percussion instruments required, and any other details they may need.
Clinton F. Nieweg, Principal Librarian, Philadelphia Orchestra (ret.), has been a mentor to students of orchestral librarianship for many years. Posted on the site are questions he has answered and information that has been collected.
His students have held prestigious positions as performance librarians with the Alabama, Allentown (PA), Brooklyn, Chicago, Haddonfield (NJ), Houston, Minnesota, Naples (FL), National (DC), New World (FL), Toledo (OH), Utah symphony orchestras; as well as the Edwin A. Fleisher Collection of Orchestral Music, Indiana University, Juilliard School, Library of Congress and the Metropolitan Opera.
This group accepts members who are serious students of the profession and are, or wish to be, orchestra librarian and those who will be able to help their orchestras by having information about the profession of orchestra librarian.
OLI members are encouraged to post questions and information that would be of interest to performance librarians.
