"For one kiss wilt thou be willing to give all; but whoso gives one
particle of dust shall lose all in that hour."

yet another disappointing heartbreak, yet another blade has passed
through me and yet again i must push forward into the unknown, feeling
defeated and unsure of myself...

i will be assembling copies of [NTT.FINAL PHASE] later this week, and
they should start shipping toward the end of next week.

the master for BOTTOMFEEDER will go out to Nil by Mouth this week.

at long last, THE GOSPELS OF THE GASH has been officially deemed
complete, and the masters are in the hands of jason at Malignant Records.
here are a few snippets of what he had to say about the material:
"Got the master yesterday. Thanks!!...UNBELIEVABLE...Seriously, what a
masterwork...it really feels like one of your most 'complete'
recordings...I'm in awe..."
thanks jason!
i am roughly 99 percent finished with the layout, pending some final
elements by jorden haley at Karbine Labor Industries (www.karbine.com).
i have to say this is definitely some of the best artwork i've ever done
and i am truly proud of it.
as far as the audio goes, i agree with jason that it feels very cohesive
and flows perfectly.
it is my hope that as the final release by NTT it will be well-received.
there will be a remix/collaboration album released in conjunction with
this double cd.
more information on that to come.

in addition to these last three releases, NTT will appear on the
ADDICTION compilation from Enmity Records and a remix album coming from
CANDIRIA. then, her corpse will sink into the mud.

NTT fan Tommuel Reynolds has posted a review of VTERVS (the first one
i've seen) on BLOOD TIES webzine (http://existest.org/bloodties):

Navicon Torture Technologies - VTERVS CD: http://leechnest.net/ntt/
NCC: Noise Control Corp.: http://www.ncc-records.com/

Overall Rating: A+
Composition: B+
Sounds: A
Production Quality: A+
Concept: A
Packaging: A

A small while ago Leech of Navicon Torture Technologies announced the
end of this project. He felt he had spoken all that was needed to be
said, and has moved on to continue with the industrial drone sideproject
Love Is Nothing. Fortunetly, he's not going without final last words,
and this is the beginning of the project's deathbed cries. I've been
looking forward to the haul of releases that will be forthcoming to mark
the end of this project, namely this CD, the [Final_Phase] 5xCDr box,
The Gospels Of The Gash 2xCD and the Bottomfeeder cassette.

For those who preordered the special edition of this CD, they were
treated to a 10" silkscreened vinyl box, t-shirt, postcards and an extra
insert along with the gorgeous 6 panel digipak CD. The artwork itself
carries the same qualities that NTT fans are used to - manipulated
images of nude women, placed symmetrically and so that you cannot see
thier faces, which has a usual mysterious vibe. The pre-album EP CDr,
VTERVS0, was released before this album, which consisted of mostly
different versions of tracks that are on this album. It gave me a real
taster for what this album is like, and I have coveted it ever since.
(It was very hard to get one of these special boxes to the UK... I
managed to get one at last anyway. Now, on with the review...)

The first track, VTERVS I, kick starts the album with a very cinematic
feel - the usual low pitched synth strings, along with samples of
voices. Throughout this album there are a few guest musicians, more
notably SKM-ETR's Christopher McDonald, who provides layers of bassy,
thick analogue synth drones (his solo project, The Alison Project,
specialises in this) which is used heavily on this track and several
others. A looped womens scream marks the beginning of the madness, as
more noise comes crashing in and Leech's usual droning vocals begin to
pan all around the mix. After this intro, the first main track, I Love
The Poison In My Veins., kicks in. One of the things I love about NTT's
work is that all goes all over the industrial spectrum - he utilises
many styles to create both monolithic soundscapes and abrasive music.
This track begins to build up with a very rhythmic loop, which begin to
build and layer up as a second, heavier, pummeling rhythm pounds it's
way through. The vocals kick in which is typical of NTT - heavily
processed, rhythmic and fits well with the rest of the track. Already a
very powerfull and strong start.

Throughout this album there are a couple very short tracks littered
around - one of these being the next track, A L O N E. Short, direct,
and straight to the point, this track is a heavy synth loop with some
very distressed vocals being screamed over the top. The next track, He
Wants It To End, is a lot more atmospheric. There is some seriously nice
detail with sound composition in this track, a very low end dark ambient
track with a tickering minimal drum beat. Rather than screaming, the
vocals on this track are a lot more subtle - this is more like a spoken
word track. Still sticking with a cinematic feeling, this track still
contains samples of a distressed woman screaming throughout, so whilst
this track is subtle in nature it still shows Leech's consistent sense
of misognyism. The noise blasts straight back in on track five - I Am
Insane, And You Are My Insanity. Heavily layered walls with a lot of
mid-range crunch are the basis of this track. As with most of NTT's
work, the lyrics for this track are particularly personal and focus very
heavily on loss. (I can't erase these thoughts of your mouth./watching
you walk toward me, watching you walk away/the chain grinds against my
skin as the images flicker in my skull/dreams turn to ash in my hands
and I know I'm afraid to feel.) I feel that this version is a lot more
powerfull and appropriate than the version on the VTERVS0 CDr, as much
as I liked that version I felt the vocals suited a backdrop of harsh
walls than a melody of strings (however I did really like the female
vocals in that version). More ambient based tracks ensue - Tempting The
Darkness carries the sound that makes NTT so distinct - a distorted
classical loop, which fits perfectly over drones and a slow drum beat
which sounds like a heartbeat before the choking vocals come in. This
track really shows off the good production on this CD, and the sounds
merge together perfectly to create a tormented bliss. What Would I Be
Without This Feeling? continues the cinematic feel, with eerie voices
and strings. Again, no shouted vocals on this one, moreso heavily
processed spoken word. The aesthetic for this album seems to be a lot
more subtle than previous releases, still very powerfull however. The
original mix on the VTERVS0 CDr has a lot less of the qualities of this
new version, I feel this version is a lot more powerful because there
are so many more sounds - a slow, depressing synth melody, atmospheric
bass guitar riffs and the vocals are manipulated. Sick, is again heavy
on the synths from SKM-ETR, yet unlike the version on VTERVS - Sick
(There Is No Virus) this version has vocals. This is a track that
focuses heavily on the distorted rhythm and drum pulse, however it
leaves plenty of room for machine-like synths and cold venomous vocals.

The next real abrasive track is Reasons For Ratpoison. It builds up
loops and progresses into a wall of sound with attention to detail,
different flutters of distortion pan all around. The vocals on this
track have some interesting production - they first come in with heavy
amounts of effects, then the dry screaming vocals come in afterwards.
Anything For You follows a similar production as all the other tracks on
this disc that use a drum beat. Cold, slow, and ruthless, this track has
some incredibly powerfull imagery. It plods along without remorse,
showcasing the timeless tale of devotion and ruin. The second short
track, Your Eyes, happens to be one of my favourite tracks on the album.
Despite how basic and short it is (under a minute), it is raw and the
vocals are spat out all over a mess of noise shrouded in nihilism. The
album then decides to settle down with some more subtle ambient and
drone tracks. Sensory Division And Self Sabotage is another tale of
personal avidity with harrowing synths and atmospherics with
unitelligable vocals, but the album really peaks with the next track, I
Want To Break Your Heart Into A Thousand Pieces. With the obvious
concept at hand, Leech creates a remarkable growing atmosphere of
drones, sombre orchestral music and a looped scream that climaxes with
powerfull heavy vocals. A real reminder what NTT is all about -
heartbreak and loss, and showcasing it. The album wraps up with a twelve
minute epic (I Am My Own Worse Enemy.) of numb ambient music, where the
final word uttered is a sample "romance."

If this is the end of NTT, so be it. Letting the project die can only be
a good thing is such brilliant albums like this come out of it. This
exceeded my expectations, and only makes me even more excited than what
I already was for the next releases. Essential for anyone interested in
a diverse style of power electronics and industrial music that focuses
on personal issues - without being afraid to say it. Loud.

For most, "immortal" is just a word, a description of a concept that
defies all rational explanation. Born and reborn in the era of Christ,
Ilya knows all too well what "immortal" really means. Journey with her
across the aeons in her truly eternal quest to find love, solace, or
even simple peace with the world and the nature of what she has become.

artistic hybrid somewhere between the two...told in Vanflower's deadpan
