During the past several weeks, I have been working on remixes and
collaboration tracks for YOUR SUFFERING WILL BE LEGENDARY, and now have
13 tracks in various degrees of completion. One track in particular has
held my attention over the last few days, and while it is not finished
by any means, something about the way it sounds at this moment is having
a particular impact on me. In its simplicity, the profound sadness
contained within is resonating in some very deep corner of my self.
Maybe it's because it seems to so perfectly capture the way I have been
feeling during the past month. I do have to say that the impact of this
track is due in large part to the efforts of my collaborator, Kristoffer
Oustad, of KRISTOFFER NYSTRΦMS ORKESTER and V:28, and I anxiously await
his next contribution to the track.

to the effect that music is the only artform in which the artist can

Salutations. The new year yawns wide as a gaping maw. So many
possibilities lie ahead, yet the wounds of 2008 still shine. Nurtured,
open, red and unhealed. Injuries both old and fresh are
indistinguishable from each other.
Typically, the turning of a new year brings hope. Certainly, with a
new administration preparing to take its place in the states - one
which ran on a promise of change - it would seem appropriate to
prepare for a return of optimism. But i feel no such optimism. At
present, I feel very little of anything, other than misery. What else
is fucking new?

This post is the first attempt at re-formatting my regular updates.

NEWS:

1. THEOLOGIAN

THEOLOGIAN is a new industrial project which will take over as my
primary musical focus in the absence of NTT. Plans for this project
have remained a secret for some time except among a select few. I will
continue with the ambient/drone metal experiments of love is nothing.
as an ongoing collaborative project, but THEOLOGIAN will likely
function entirely as a solo effort.

THEOLOGIAN will chronicle the development of my own personal mythology
inspired by concepts introduced into the public consciousness by Clive
Barker in his short novel THE HELLBOUND HEART, intertwined with ideas
derived from Wayne Douglas Barlowe in his INFERNO series. These
concepts have obviously been a part of certain NTT material for some
time, but in a peripheral sense.
THEOLOGIAN is a continued aural exploration into the higher reaches of
experience. Expressions of love and obsession, the loss of self and
the corruption of the soul through addictions to carnality and
temporal lusts.
Sonically, I have opted to go for a minimal approach, the first few
tracks seem to have been somewhat inspired by early DIVE material.
I will eventually release these first 5 tracks on an ep called
CHARTING THE SCHISM, and a split release with Polish power electronics
brutarian BRANDKOMMANDO is being discussed.

2. NTT. THE GOSPELS OF THE GASH 2XCD

As previously announced, there will be a limited boxset edition for
the final NTT release on MALIGNANT RECORDS. The work continues.
Hopefully, this will be out by the end of this month.

3. [NTT.FINAL PHASE]

I will do my best to get this out by the end of February. I never
intended it to take this long.

4. NTT. BOTTOMFEEDER

Still no word from NIL BY MOUTH when this will see the light of day,
but it's entirely out of my hands now, which is always a good
indicator that something will be out sooner than later.

5. UNSOUND NYC

Lots of amazing lineups in the works. The first UNSOUND show of 2009
will take place on Friday March 6. More information to come.

6. ANNIHILVS

I will try to get some of these long-awaited late orders out starting
next week. I am always struggling.

Hey gang.
Things in my little corner of the universe have been pushing forward on
a fairly even keel, and i'm slowly gearing up for a more productive
period, which will hopefully allow me to gain momentum and attend to a
lot of things that have slipped through the cracks. my personal life at
present leaves me with very little to complain about for the most part,
although if i put enough thought into the financial muck i am
essentially drowning in, it fills me with extreme anxiety.
i am lucky enough to be spending the majority of my time with someone
who obliterates that anxiety as a flame obliterates darkness.

i have been getting some emails from folks who are showing justifiable
irritation at how long their orders have been taking, and i have no
excuse per se, except to say that my dire financial and employment
situation – which has now lasted far longer than i could have ever
anticipated – has put me into a sort of paralysis in regards to
label-related matters.
there is a small stack or parcels and a somewhat larger email folder
with unpacked orders that have been weighing heavily on my chest for
MONTHS, but when the choice must be made between going to the post
office, eating or buying gas, or putting in the effort to do these
shows, i've had to live with the choices i have made.
i know full well that things will not always be like this, and all i can
ask is for people to remain patient.
if that is somehow beyond you, i can do or say very little to change that.

again this is not an excuse, merely an explanation.
i'm working on it...

as i said above, there has been some progress, which is a very good sign.
yesterday, i finally sent in the master for the BOTTOMFEEDER cassette
release on NIL BY MOUTH, which had become yet another millstone around
my neck.
since it was clearly too much effort to go to the post office, i opted
to upload the full quality files to my server, which was made possible
by an upgrade in the internet connection at my house from worthless dsl
to fibre optic.

i have also completed and submitted my part of a forthcoming three-way
split release with THE VOMIT ARSONIST and CONCEIVED IN RAPE.
this piece was made under the love is nothing. name, and is composed of
bass and guitar by my friend Siobhean Kramer, with everything else done
by me.
the track is called 'dedicated to megan wright'
i'll leave it to those who are interested to do some research about who
this person was.

(hopefully around mid january), but it's currently being mastered by
jasse of CLOAMA/STROM.ec at NEUROSCAN.ORG
jason and i are working on a limited boxset which will include a third
disc with collaboration tracks.
the original plan was to do remixes, but because of the way i work, this
is far more convenient and conducive to making it actually happen.

People into the darkest regions of industrial are probably very familiar
with the works of Nordvargr and Leech. Were Nordvargr is known under
many disguises, Leech is mostly known as Navicon Torture Technologies.
Although, NTT is no more, but is transformed into Love Is Nothing. Both
artists are some of the more creative people from the dark industrial
realm, with often deep and penetrating sounds and interesting sound
structures. Some years ago, those two men decided to make some music
together, which resulted in a track, ‘Breed For Me’, on the Nordvargr
compilation ‘Enter Nordvargr’. This track is also present in a shorter
version on this debut album. With those two behind the project, the
expectations were really high to say the least. With a band name which
refers to the revolutionary anatomical exhibition by Gunther von
Hangens, don’t expect any happy tunes.

The music on this album might not be as hard as the hardest NTT tracks,
it is however extremely dark material. The music does sound what you’d
expect from these two. It uses the more restrained, but also more
disturbing, sounds we know from NTT, mixed with the sounds and
structures from Nordvargr.

The album is fairly short, around 39 minutes, and has six songs on it,
which are divided into two parts; ‘Part I - Rape’, which has three
songs, and ‘Part II – Rage’, which also has three songs.

The album starts somewhat restrained with the very claustrophobic ‘The
Sun Destroyers’. Clocking at somewhat over 10 minutes, this is also the
longest track on the album. This track begins very NTT-like, with dark
throbbing sounds and a nihilistic feel. As the song progresses, more
Nordvargr touches are heard as the song gets harsher. With second track,
‘The Forces Of Chastity Are Massing Once Again’, which goes further in
sound where the first track ended, we get an onslaught of industrial
sounds and frequencies. Halfway through, the song gets more rhythmic.
This song shows really good the teamwork of both artists and is very
intense. The third song, ‘Oestrus’, is again more quiet and darkly
disturbing. It has a very claustrophobic feel and throws you right into
the well of nothingness. You really feel the darkness breathing around
you. The fourth song, ‘My Heart Pumps Piss For You’, goes further with
the sounds from the third track and adds more harshness to it. The fifth
song, ‘Kidney Stone of Wisdom’, uses screeching sounds and manipulated
vocals. The song eventually turns into a dark drone. This is an amazing
track, with a lot of different layers and sounds. We end the album with
‘Breed For Me’, which, as already said, appeared in a longer version on
‘Enter Nordvargr’. The song starts very dark with some drones. Halfway
through, just like the second track, the song gets more rhythmic. Now
also distorted vocals are added. The song only lasts for about 2 minutes.
Although the album is somewhat short, it is probably for the better.
Masterpieces aren’t made because of extended playtimes, but because of
what it gives. Skinny Puppy’s masterpiece ‘Too Dark Park’, is also not a
very long album with around 38 minutes of music. Still it’s one of the
industrial masterpieces, because of its strengths, ideas and
originality. This album by Kφrperwelten is also very strong and with
lots of interesting sound ideas. You hear both of the artist’s
trademarks, but together they are still a different entity. Sounds are
extremely dark and deep, with the occasional rhythmic outbursts. It’s an
album that is short but intense, rather than a long album with lots of
filler. It’s an album that gets to the point instantly and doesn’t let up.
Because of the excellent sound quality, special mention also goes out to
J. Stillings from Steel Hook Prostheses, who mastered the album and did
a great Job. You can really feel this album!

For fans of both the artists and people into dark industrial and power
electronics, it’s again an essential release from Malignant. That label
keeps on tormenting me with amazing and essential releases I should keep
track on. Live is too short already!
And lest not forget about the packaging, which is very beautifully
designed and has some great disturbing and controversial artwork by
Jonathan Canady, who also has the musical projects Angel of Decay and
Deathpile.
So a release that’s wonderful to look at and, more importantly, is
really exciting to listen to. Essential!

KΦRPERWELTEN - AVATARS OF RAPE AND RAGE
MALIGNANT RECORDS
On first impressions, this album seems hilarious: open the digipack and
you're confronted with a series of pictures depicting ever-more explicit
scenes of BDSM…but as the album progresses, things become truly
chilling. By the end your skin is crawling, as the final tracks
consolidate the atmosphere with a (necessary?) context that both opens
and narrows avenues of comprehension. Yes, for the most part, all
possibilities for shock and moral impunity have long ago been exhumed.
Yet as this project artfully demonstrates, the considered juxtaposition
of imagery, samples and sound manipulation can still uncover uniquely
writhing middens of horror. Combining elements of harsh ambience, brutal
power electronics, minimalist pulsing martial rhythms and hypnotic
loops, this burrows and claws mercilessly through flesh towards a raw
density that washes through you in an almost-narcotic exhortation of
abhorrent bliss. Unsurprisingly, it's yet another of Henrik Nordvargr
Bjφrkk's ever-nourishing endeavors, this time a collaboration with Leech
of NTT. Kneejerk moralists may react with nauseas disgust; those with a
wider perspective will recognise the many angles this should be
approached from, as the song titles hint at.

In case you might not know, Kφrperwelten is a collaboration between
Navicon Torture Technologies (and now Love Is Nothing) architect Leech
and Swedish legend Henrik Nordvargr Bjφrkk (MZ.412, Folkstorm,
Nordvargr, etc). According to the fine fellow over at Malignant, this
project began in 2002 and finally comes to fruition this year. I'll
admit to being something of a Nordvargr completist for awhile, but do
his rather...prolific nature and its impact on my wallet, I gave that up
a few years back. I also began to question the lack of quality control
as the projects became increasingly hit or miss for me. Mr. Leech is no
slacker and I've always been pleased with the several things I've picked
up. "Avatars Of Rape And Rage" has renewed my faith in Nordvargr and
re-sparked my interests in the workings of the Leech Nest, this being
one of the rare instances where the whole is greater than the sum of
its' parts.

The disc is divided into two parts with three tracks in each, Rape and
Rage (hence the name). Rape is equal parts Death Industrial rhythms,
Dark Ambient passages, noisy interludes and electronic lust. "The Forces
Of Chastity Are Massing Once Again" is my favorite track from this set
due to the pure aggression. Rage is just what you'd imagine, three
tracks that seethe and boil with hatred projected outward towards you
the listener. "My Heart Pumps Piss for You" is definitely my shining
star from this set, droning layers of sound build and collide reaching a
chaotic crescendo that slowly fades to black.

You shouldn't expect something completely out of left field from this
collaboration. You will definitely hear bits and pieces of both members'
projects rearing their respective heads at times, but instead of vying
for control, they complement each other perfectly. It's a partnership
I'd very much like to hear more from. This disc is housed in a beautiful
6-panel digipak cover with the excellent (and skewed) art of Jonathan
Canady (Deathpile, Angel Of Decay) that's sure to make your
wife/girlfriend/significant other demand you get rid of it and mixed by
L. Kerr (Steel Hook Prostheses, Habeeb). Another notch in the pistol of
the always amazing Malignant discography.

after the december 19 UNSOUND show, we'll be taking a much-need break

up during the past several months can be cleared from my plate, to make
way for more crap.

will surface in 2009!

NY Eye & Ear is a 2 day record fair and all-ages music festival
celebrating NYC homegrown DIY recording labels and bands. This is
NYC's only record fair devoted exclusively to NY record labels.  The
title is inspired from the 1964 Michael Snow film w/ soundtrack by
Albert Ayler and from the all-too-familiar signs seen daily in the
subway tunnels by riders of the L-train of the famous NY Eye & Ear
Infirmary. The Fest will be held at Vanishing Point, a huge 4700 sq.
foot industrial loft in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Playing for the first time in Montreal, this notorious project founded by

UNSOUND MTL is the Canadian chapter of UNSOUND NYC. Established in october

Doors cleverly concealed…unexplored abandoned industrial sites….the
angleREC and Mondes Elliptiques labels had the opportunity to work with
many sound artists whose explorations are accompanied by a will to uncover
on the field, in the abstract as well as in the concrete, different
mysteries or secrets, or at least, to probe the enclave, the place they
haunt. The SKINWELL project is no exception; its two protagonists,
CHRISTIAN CORVELLEC and MARTIN DUMAIS, concoct music for TUNNELS, those
places, where, at the end, one is beginning to see the light, as the old
proverb says, but in the present case, we do not really care; we can see
the light in the distance, it also penetrates different interstices or
fissures along the walls of the tunnels where we progress, but we prefer
taking the time to pace the premises, to permeate ourselves with the sound
echoes with which they fill our ears and head, and it should be mentioned
that the ambient-drone styling embraced by SKINWELL contains, like the
music of some well-know artists of the genre (here we shall name
CRANIOCLAST, TROUM or ZOVIET FRANCE with the unique goal of giving people
a better idea as to where they are on the map of sonorities), a whole
assortment of subtle electronic pulsations, concocted here by CHRISTIAN
CORVELLEC, which always adequately support the sound fabrics woven by
MARTIN DUMAIS, and which also are their starting point. One only has to
imagine a minimal tech project gone the drone-ocean way …pulsations are
there, always, but tinged with a sonic fog that is heavy, damp and fluid
at the same time and which always suggests, in the end, uncertain twists
and turns in this crossing of tunnels. But who would complain?

SKINWELL represents the first musical project on disc involving CHRISTIAN
CORVELLEC. On TUNNELS, with MARTIN DUMAIS he seals an alliance of the most
fruitful nature, whose initial results gained, right at the beginning,
general consensus among fans of ambient-noise and drone looking for new
sensations. For his part, MARTIN DUMAIS has been part of Montreal’s
electronic and exploratory music scenes for the last 20 years. He mainly
gained attention with his ODDS industrial project towards the end of the
80s, his techno ventures JUICEBOX (with Marc Leclair aka AKUFEN) and LES
JARDINIERS, and finally his current psych-drone project, AUN (with three
CDS on ORAL in Montreal and one on CRUCIAL BLAST in the United States).

SLEEP RESEARCH FACILITY, avec ses ambiances ιvocatives si particuliθres,
fait souvent appel ΰ des sources sonores non standard (par exemple, un

UNSOUND MTL est le chapitre canadien d’UNSOUND NYC. Crιι en octobre 2008,
UNSOUND MTL s’est donnι pour mission de prιsenter sur les scθnes
montrιalaises le meilleur de la musique underground. Nous privilιgierons
une vaste gamme de sonoritιs obscures allant du dark-ambient et de la
musique bruitiste industrielle au power-electronics en passant  par le

Portes habilement dιrobιes ΰ la vue, friches industrielles
inexplorιes….les labels angleREC et Mondes Elliptiques ont eu le bonheur
de travailler avec plusieurs artistes du son dont les explorations
s’accompagnent d’une volontι de percer, sur le terrain, dans l’abstrait
comme dans le concret, diffιrents mystθres ou secrets, ou du moins, de
sonder l’enclave, le lieu qu’ils hantent. Le projet SKINWELL ne fait pas
exception; ses deux protagonistes, CHRISTIAN CORVELLEC et MARTIN DUMAIS,
concoctent une musique pour TUNNELS, ces lieux au bout desquels on finit,
comme le dit le vieux proverbe, par voir la lumiθre, mais dans le cas
prιsent, cela nous importe peu; la lumiθre, on la devine au loin, elle se
fait jour aussi par diffιrents interstices ou fissures jalonnant les
parois des tunnels oω l’on progresse, mais on prιfθre prendre le temps de
bien arpenter les lieux, de s’imprιgner des ιchos sonores dont ils nous
emplissent les oreilles et la tκte, et il convient de prιciser que
l’ambiant-drone pratiquι par SKINWELL recθle, ΰ l’instar de certains
artistes bien connus du genre (nous citerons ici CRANIOCLAST, TROUM ou
encore ZOVIET FRANCE dans l’unique but de situer un peu les gens dans la
cartographie des sonoritιs), tout un assortiment de subtiles pulsations
ιlectroniques, concoctιes ici par CHRISTIAN CORVELLEC, qui appuient
toujours judicieusement les nappes sonores tissιes par MARTIN DUMAIS, et
en constituent en outre le point de dιpart. Il suffit d’imaginer un projet
de tech-minimal qui aurait dιcidι de se laisser dιriver vers un ocιan de
drones…les pulsations sont lΰ, toujours, mais imprιgnιes d’un brouillard
sonore lourd, humide et fluide ΰ la fois qui laisse toujours, au final,
prιsager des dιtours incertains dans cette traversιe de tunnels. Mais qui
s’en plaindra?

SKINWELL reprιsente le premier projet musical sur disque auquel participe
CHRISTIAN CORVELLEC. Sur TUNNELS, il scelle avec MARTIN DUMAIS une
alliance des plus fructueuses, dont les rιsultats initiaux ont obtenu dθs
la premiθre heure le consensus gιnιral parmi les mordus d’ambiant-noise et
drone ΰ la recherche de nouvelles sensations. MARTIN DUMAIS fait pour sa

brad, many thanks for the kind words.
i truly appreciate the support and understanding, and it means a fuck of
a lot to be told that what i do resonates as strongly with others as
SWANS has with me.

i'd assume that THE GOSPELS OF THE GASH will probably be pressed in a
run of 1000 copies, but i don't know specifically what jason has in mind.
i'm fairly certain there's no danger that it will sell out in half an hour.

as for my future/peripheral musical efforts, love is nothing. will
continue to expand as time goes by within the realms of
electronic/drone/ambient/doom metal, and i have other projects in the
works. love is nothing. will appear on a three-way split cassette
release with CONCEIVED IN RAPE and THE VOMIT ARSONIST, and new material
will eventually get compiled in 2009. i'm determined to craft songs and
record material as an actual 'band,' so it's going to take some time to
coordinate that.
the lineup as it stands now looks like this:

Happy Halloween!

As i struggle to decide exactly where to begin with this latest update,
i think about the ways in which my life (and my perception of myself)
has changed since last month's post, and how i now feel closer to some
brand of internal peace than i have previously felt during the past year.
There's still a hard road ahead; i have yet to find gainful employment,
though there are some legitimate leads looming close.
I have a great many things to attend to, which have sat stagnant for a
very long time and weigh heavily on me. I know i owe a lot of orders,
and i'll be getting to those as soon as i'm able.
Label activities will hopefully resume after december.
The [NTT.FINAL PHASE] release is coming soon, i will finally be mailing
the BOTTOMFEEDER master to italy today or tomorrow, THE GOSPELS OF THE

Happy Halloween!

As i struggle to decide exactly where to begin with this latest update,
i think about the ways in which my life (and my perception of myself)
has changed since last month's post, and how i now feel closer to some
brand of internal peace than i have previously felt during the past year.
There's still a hard road ahead; i have yet to find gainful employment,
though there are some legitimate leads looming close.
I have a great many things to attend to, which have sat stagnant for a
very long time and weigh heavily on me. I know i owe a lot of orders,
and i'll be getting to those as soon as i'm able.
Label activities will hopefully resume after december.
The [NTT.FINAL PHASE] release is coming soon, i will finally be mailing
the BOTTOMFEEDER master to italy today or tomorrow, THE GOSPELS OF THE
GASH is being mastered and the layout is essentially complete.
I am more than ready to close that horrifying chapter of my life which
has been occupied by NTT for the last 11 years.
I can no longer afford, nor am i willing, to be enslaved by my past.

A new chapter has been opened, and a new, gorgeous sunrise has embraced me.

Onward and upward.

and by AUN and KALI in Montreal, with over a decade of collective
experience organising and promoting live events UNSOUND NYC seeks to
make a lasting impact on the underground scene. To reach this goal, we
are seeking partnerships with other labels, promoters, and artists to
foster a sense of community based on mutual respect.

it has now been just over a year since i lost my job, and aside from the
occasional freelance gig, odd job, and random windfall, times have been
especially hard, with no real end in sight. i've been on the dole since
april, but that's about to end, and so far none of my potential
employment leads have borne fruit.
the abyss gapes wide ahead of me.

i truly appreciate the support, patience and understanding of all you
folks who have been waiting for the [NTT.FINAL PHASE] release to
materialise, as well as various other items that have been ordered
during the past several months.
i am slowly working on finishing the 5 disc set, and getting this other
stuff the fuck out of here, and there is a batch of packages waiting to
ship out.
i should be getting some very much-needed help with handling overdue
orders in the coming weeks, but label activities will continue to move
at a snail's pace until i am back on my feet.

in spite of having spent the majority of the last year in a state of
increasingly overwhelming despair, sinking further and deeper into debt,
and experiencing heartache after heartache, i have somehow managed to
continue to be active and creative, which is obviously a good sign and
gives some validity to the above quote.

RECORDS</a> for AVATARS OF RAPE AND RAGE, the debut full length release
by KOERPERWELTEN, the collaborative project featuring myself and Henrik
Bjφrkk, AKA <a href="http://www.virb.com/nordvargr">NORDVARGR</a>.
six years in the making, this release has been anticipated, forgotten
about, and once again anticipated.
at long last, it lives, and i now hold copies in my hands.

AVATARS OF RAPE AND RAGE contains a total of six tracks moving between
doomed, ambient drone and harsh, militant industrial noise.
packaged in a six-panel digipak featuring illustrations, layout and
design by Jonathan Canady (www.malsonus.com) and Nekroby
(www.blutbagger.com), with artwork that was rejected by the first
pressing plant Jason sent it to, which should give you some indication
of how amazing it is.

it reminds me of those late 80s death metal albums that got a lot of
attention from the PMRC, and got a lot of bands branded as 'obscene' and
'misogynistic' and even 'dangerous'.
this release will be available directly from me tomorrow, or after it's
been posted on the Malignant catalogue, whichever comes first.
