CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT

Sydenham Street United Church, Sydenham at William Streets,
Kingston, Ontario
Sydenham Street United Church is hosting a concert featuring the
renowned Swedish university choir, Allmänna Sången, on the evening of
Tuesday, June 18th at 8:00 p.m. Allmänna Sången was founded in
1830, and is the oldest university choir in Scandinavia. They will be
performing Bach's "Komm, Jesu, komm;" Purcell's "Hear My Prayer;"
Poulenc's "Exultate Deo," and a selection from his "Figure humaine:
Liberté." They will also perform works by Scandinavian composers Trond
Kverno, Ingvar Lidholm, Sven-David Sandström, Vytautas Miskinis and
Urmas Sisask.
Each section of the concert program will be introduced with organ works
performed by Sydenham Street's Organist Emeritus, F.R.C. Clarke and
resident organist Charles Walker. Selections will include Bach's
"Toccata in d" (the Dorian), Clérambault's "Caprice sur les grands jeux,"
and two movements from Canadian organist Victor Togni's "Five
Liturgical Inventions."
The program will be a fundraiser for Sydenham Street's Church
Restoration Fund. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or in advance

9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.), or by calling (613) 542-7744 at any time. Prices
are $10 for Adults and $8 for Seniors/Students.
