GILES BRYANT was Organist and Master of the Choristers at St. James’
Cathedral from 1979 to 1999. Before that he served at Grace
Church-on-the-Hill and at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. In 1968 he
succeeded Healey Willan at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene.

As an organist he has appeared in many places in the world, France, Germany,
Spain (including Menorca), Italy and Hungary. He has played many recitals
of differing kinds in England, including regular appearances at lunchtime
series in London. He has played in most of the major churches in Toronto
and at Roy Thomson Hall in their twilight series. He has also been heard
several times on CBC Radio. A singular honour was to play at the Martyr’s
Shrine in Midland for the Papal visit. He appears regularly as a clinician
and adjudicator on both choral and organ matters. Last season’s organ
recitals included Toronto, Port Hope, Cobourg and Halifax.

This season he has given recitals in Port Hope, Peterborough, London,
Toronto and Ottawa and has just returned from a visit to England, playing
for the Choir of Royal St. George's College at eight English Cathedrals.
