J.S. BACH: THE ART OF THE FUGUE

Christopher Dawes, organ and piano

Glenn Gould’s only organ recording was of Bach’s final, and unfinished
composition, Die Kunst der Füge. It summarizes both the simple beauty and
dizzying complexity which fugal composition attained at Bach’s hands.
Christopher Dawes, Organist and Director of Music at Toronto’s St. James’
Cathedral, performs selections from Gould’s recorded legacy of this work,
using both the Carl Czerny piano arrangement used by Gould for his
recordings, and an organ arrangement and completion of the work by Bach
scholar Helmut Walcha.
