TORONTO: Music Staff Changes at the Cathedral Church of St. James



For those of you who may not have heard, three music staff changes are
taking place this summer at Toronto's St. James' Cathedral.



The first is me: following twelve years' service to St. James' Cathedral, in
May I resigned my position as Organist and Director of Music effective
August 31st 2003. I spent eight years from 1991 to 1999 as Assistant
Organist to Giles Bryant, after which I competed for and was appointed to
the Director of Music position in September 1999. This year, having
accomplished all ten of the objectives I set for myself and for the
Cathedral's music for the five years following my appointment, I will in
this next phase be attending more fully to my freelance career and young
family, both of which have to some degree been on hold while I have been at
St. James'.



In June 2003, Music Associate and Director of the Cathedral Choir of Men and
Boys Matthew Larkin accepted the position of Organist and Director of Music
at Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa, and will also be leaving St. James' at

Michael Bloss, a Toronto native currently serving as Director of Music
Ministries at Park Congregational Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan and
formerly Associate Organist and Choral Director at St. James' Cathedral from
September 1999 to November 2001, will in September 2003 be returning to St.
James', this time as its 17th Organist and Director of Music. He may
