WWW.ORGANCONCERTS.CA – Canada’s Organ Concert Listings

The new Internet domain organconcerts.ca directs any form-enabled web browser to an online version of the OrgAlt Newsletter’s “The King in Concert” listings, which have been the definitive source for organ concert information in Canada since 1999.  Visitors may browse, search, or submit listings.  Listings received by OrgAlt for Newsletter publication by regular mail and other means are also posted automatically on organconcerts.ca.

organconcerts.ca consists of three listing sections: Series, Festivals, and Single Events, as well as a past-event archive and online listing submission form.  It is intended as a fast, up-to-date resource documenting current organ presenters and annual major events, as well as all publicly promoted single events that compose them for the benefit of concertgoers, performers and their agents, and presenters seeking networks for collaboration. When the page went up in May 2004 it contained roughly 60 series, 20 annual Festivals, and 200 single events.

Toronto-area production/communication company Organ Alternatives has examined, documented and stretched Canada’s organ culture since 1992, when it began listing concerts, interviewing major figures in the organ world, and offering innovative events at Toronto’s St. James’ Cathedral.  It continues to maintain the website www.OrgAlt.com, and to publish the biannual OrgAlt newsletter and distribute it to an estimated 1000 readers per issue via postal subscription and free Internet download.
