FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Organ Academy at Stratford Summer Music, 27-31 July 2005
to feature James Edward Goettsche, organist of the Basilica Church of St.
Peter, Rome

Stratford Summer Music is preparing the fifth season of its Organ Academy
and Concert week featuring as master-teacher James Edward Goettsche.

JAMES EDWARD GOETTSCHE, a native of Los Angeles, California, and descendent
of a German family emigrated from Schleswig Holstein, has since 1989 been
“Modulator Organorum” (official organist) of the Vatican Basilica of Saint
Peter. There, he accompanies the principal liturgical celebrations,
including those of the Holy Father, and those of the Vatican Chapter. At
the same time he is Professor at the State Conservatory of Music Frosinone,
and continues to concertise, teach in master classes and record throughout
the world. His performances often included the complete works of J. S. Bach
and of Cesar Franck. During Bach commemorations in Frankfurt, for example,
he performed the Bach cycle in ten consecutive evenings, and elsewhere
invited the audience to choose the evening’s program.

In addition to giving three public concerts at 9:30am on July 28th, 29th and
30th, Mr. Goettsche will conduct public master classes on the works of J.S.
Bach and César Franck for five selected organists in the Organ Academy at
Stratford Summer Music.

Organists interested in studying with Mr. Goettsche for one week in
Stratford should contact SSM’s offices (below) as soon as possible, and
submit a Curriculum Vitae and references. Deadline for applications is June
15th. Thanks to the generosity of The Edwards Foundation, costs for these
master classes and for the participants’ residencies in Stratford are once
again absorbed completely by Stratford Summer Music.

The five students of the Academy will once again give a concert on Sunday,
July 31st at 2pm, and once again have free access to the diverse community
of artists and performances assembled in Stratford for SSM, as well as the
beautiful and historic town’s renowned theatre festival.
