SUMMER INSTITUTE OF CHURCH MUSIC
Now in its 36th session, the Summer Institute of Church Music is Canada's week-long intensive summer study program for Church Musicians at all levels. It will run this year from July 3-8 at historic Trafalgar Castle School in Whitby, Ontario.

- Daily classes in vocal, conducting, training and other choral skills by Ann Cooper Gay, and in organ and piano repertoire and performance by Ian Sadler and Bev Foster
- Daily Chapel Services in a variety of traditions followed by Mini-Sessions on aspects of “worship crafting”
- Church Music Retail Store by Kitchener’s Music Plus and Organ and Piano Anthem Reading Sessions led by Judy Pringle of Winnipeg’s Canadian Choral Centre
- Five Special sessions: Issues in Church Music (Panel Discussion), Global Hymnody, The Organ: Myth and Magic, Member Church Music Show-and-Tell; Jazz in Ministry and Life
- Opening Duo Piano Concert by SICM’s Director and Chaplain: Christopher Dawes and the Rev. Tim Elliott
- Crucible Service: a special evening service stretching worship horizons & testing assumptions
- Organ and Choral Clinics: personalized small group and one-on-one attention for all levels, especially novice
- Gala Organ Concert by Ian Sadler with reception
- Closing Community Sacred Concert conducted by Ann Cooper Gay and accompanied by Ian Sadler and farewell barbecue lunch for students, their friends and families
