Oh yes,Howard Jones and Jed - I was at that gig. I can remember Jed all chained
up and in a sort crouching frog pose.
I also saw Squeeze support Otway and Barrett at the Queensway hall in Dunstable.
Then Squeeze had a hit with Up the Junction and the next time, at the same
venue, O&B were supporting Squeeze.

Subject: [Otway] Re:( now snottish) Re: OTWAY IN THE MARILLION MUSEUM/THE
FRIARS-FAMOUS
I remember the Otway /Marillion gig very well !
Yes Fish came out in his faux uniform and face paint! He also sang a song
about cucumber sandwiches and what he described as vegetable rights. He
then proceeded to hack cucumbers up and throw cucumber sandwiches to the first
few rows. In true Friars traditions halfway through the song the
sandwiches were returned to him.... en masse and with force!
Fish's grand finale was his anti war song that involved putting 2 bags of
ketchup, connected with string, round his neck and under his t shirt. In
the final throws of the song he feigns a mortal wound and bursts the bags
beneath said t shirt. Obviously very theatrical when first thought of but
ridiculous when a red spotlight is shining on you and it just looks like
you've
spilt kebab grease all down your front.
Anyone remember Howard Jones at Friars supporting Otway? Much amusement
with the badger haircut and Jed writhing about in rafia chains in front of tv
sets...only at Friars...happy days!
