Hello everyone,

I am a swiss nai enthusiast that had the unique
chance to attend the 3rd panflute weekend organised by Michael
Dinner (http://www.panfloete.ch) with the great naists Dan Herford,
Michael Dinner and the master Damian Luca himself!

The weekend was absolutely great (at least twice as good as
described here)! Let's call it 36 hours music and endless fun!

Damian Luca played a lot of known and new music and it was
impressing to see the master of the flute so close. I'd never expect
Damian Luca to be a man who is so talented and yet so full of humour.

A few minutes after everyone arrived there atmosphere turned into
a "romanian jamming" session. Dan Herford or Damian Luca on the
piano and playing all the tunes that we knew (some of tunes are
published in this forum). Dan even sang a great italian song!

At the end of the weekend there was a little concert in a church and
Dan played some very beautiful classical pieces (among others a
Haendel #3 - the fast one ...) and Damian played some songs from
popular to folk style, from fast to slow. Damian was able fill the
church with sound and emotion expressed by the nai that I have never
heard before!

I think if Sunday night did not come finally, the dinner weekend
would have never ended! And at the moment, Damian Luca is still
around here in Switzerland somewhere giving lessons to enthusiast
that take the chance to get some piece of advice of the master
himself!

At the end I must say that I was amazed how "aware" Dan Herford is
about all aspects of the technique of the flute. Did you ever ask
you, how you are doing something? Why you are doing it this or that
way? What could one try else? etc. So the lessons with Dan were
enormously helpful and he gave thousands of impulses to improve ones
practising.

Damian Luca seems to be a genie that was born with talent. He is not
fully aware of the questions a young naist can have - he always
says, just do it this way (... and then it's very hard to follow
him ...) but he is still full of patience and shows the romanian
riffs over and over ...

I can only strongly recommend these kind of events to you, if you
like the nai and are fond of music!

Hello,
Yesterday I have spend a whole day with my teacher, Rudy Lodomez.
He lives in east of Belgium and play Pan flute since 20 years. He
learned with Diaman Luca. He is also a very good professional Guitar
player.
Thanks to him I have spent a very good and useful day. Now I just have
to continue working and to correct the wrong positions !

Thanks for your kind Easter greetings!
I have a collection of eastern european (romanian,
bulgarian, serbian) folk scores and midis, that I will
post for you asap if you are interested, of course.
I am a guitar player and I am interested not only in
folk songs but in finding a way to improvize in those
folk scales and modes.
If you go to www.gabinacu.com and click on the picture
you can listen to my album on line, especially the
song "Gypsy heart on fire" has a romanian mode
improvization at the end. Hope you're going to like
it.
