Stars Fall On Me by The Red Masque Now Available

The new download-only live album by Philadelphia avant rock band Red Masque and
signed to RER USA, "Stars Fall On Me" is now available through iTunes, eMusic,
rerusa.com and other online distributors. It will also be available to sites
like amazon.com imminently......

Please note, there was a typo made by the aggregator and the album is being
billed as "Stars FELL On Me" not "Stars FALL On Me" but we are working to
correct this..... ;)

The live album was recorded on Nov. 1, 2008 at Orion Sound Studios in Baltimore
and features a mix of songs spanning the course of three albums: "Carbon 14",
"Das Snail", "Passage", "House of Ash", "The Spider is the Web", "Birdbrain", an
Improvisation and "Tidal".

Front cover and back cover artwork (featuring credits and photo) are available
for download at http://theredmasque.com/starsfallonme.html

Lineup for this album is:

Brandon Ross: bass, echo theremin
Lynnette Shelley: vocals, percussion
Vonorn: drums, theremin, keys
with guest musician
David Pym: guitar

sorry for the short notice! philadelphia sound forum would like to give a
little heads up to an event we recommend:
tomorrow night, Experimental Culture
<http://experimentalculture.org>presents the 2002 documentary "
*The Future Is Not What It Used to Be*," about the Finnish electronic music
pioneer, instrument builder, and artist *Erkki Kurenniemi*. We featured
Kurenniemi performing with Pan Sonic on our blog a few months
back<http://www.phillysoundforum.org/2009/08/instruments-of-erkki-kurenniem.html\
>.
this event takes place at the rotunda, and is, like most events there, FREE
OF ADMISSION CHARGE.

and see below:

Please join us this *Thursday, November 19 at the Rotunda (4014 Walnut
Street) at 8 p.m*., as Experimental Culture presents a screening of "The
Future Is Not What It Used to Be," a 2002 documentary film directed by Mika
Taanila.

The focus of the film is Erkki Kurenniemi, the Finnish inventor, artist, and
intellectual whose unjustly neglected work helped usher in the "information
age."

See Kurenniemi's foray's into the new (in the 1960s) field of "video art,"
sporting fabulous techno-futurist titles such as "Electronics in the World
of Tomorrow."

Hear his remarkable array of original electronic instruments he called DIMI
(Digital Musical Instruments), including the so-called "sexophone," which
generates sound through the skin contact of multiple performers.

And witness Kurenniemi's most ambitious project of all: the attempt to
meticulously record all the events of his life so that his consciousness can
be artificially reconstructed in the future.

The film is approximately one hour long.

ADMISSION FREE, as always.

For more information, please visit experimentalculture.org.

Thanks,
Thomas Patteson

Friends -
The evening draws nigh. *The diplomatic representatives of the Kingdoms of
Elgaland-Vargaland shall very soon reach our shores*. Welcome them with us!
The kings will be bringing applications for citizenship, flags, banners,
info, and even the KREV national drink - vodka and coke. *Raise a glass
with them to a fruitful future between Philadelphia and KREV!*
*
*TONIGHT - Monday, November 9.
We welcome back the extraordinary noise and movement duo Sons of God, from
Sweden, this time representing the fascinating, vexing, and hilarious Kingdoms
of Elgaland-Vargaland <http://www.elgaland-vargaland.org/> project. Much
more info, audio, video is at our website
here<http://www.phillysoundforum.org/shows/sognov.html>.
Also appearing will be Egnekn Montgomery performing lamination rituals and
Skull Defekts member Joachim Nordwall performing solo electronics.

Read about KREV in a little rag called *THE NEW YORK TIMES
**here*<http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/09/arts/design/09bien.html>
*.*

Preceded by *an introductory panel discussion on KREV, moderated by Thomas
Bey William Bailey*, author of "Micro Bionic: Radical Electronic Music And
Sound Art In The 21st Century." *The panel will start promptly at 8:15.
Performances to follow at nine*. SEPTA is running!

More details below.

Joachim Nordwall
(Sweden, member of Skull Defekts)
electronics
preceded by an introductory panel discussion on KREV, moderated by Thomas
Bey William Bailey, author of "Micro Bionic: Radical Electronic Music And
Sound Art In The 21st Century."

Return appearance from these Swedish faves! If you missed Sons of God last
time they were in Philadelphia, or at the No Fun Festival, you may have
heard bemused and be-wondered tales of their theatrical, ritualistic
movements and scenes, set to bone-rattling noise. And if you did catch
them, you know just what kind of miraculous transformations to expect.
This time, Leif and Kent will be joined by two prominent citizens of the
Royal Kingdoms of Elgaland-Vargaland <http://www.elgaland-vargaland.org/> to
present us the rites and rituals of their foreign land, founded by Leif
Elggren and CM von Hausswolff in 1992.

"The Kingdoms of Elgaland-Vargaland [KREV] were proclaimed in 1992 and
consist of all Border Territories: Geographical, Mental & Digital.

Elgaland-Vargaland is the largest – and most populous realm on Earth,
incorporating all boundaries between other nations as well as Digital
Territory and other states of existence. Every time you travel somewhere,
and every time you enter another form, such as the dream state, you visit
Elgaland-Vargaland."

Read the KREV
constitution.<http://www.elgaland-vargaland.org/constitution/index.html>

For this special diplomatic mission to Philadelphia, KREV founder and King
Leif Elggren and Minister of Revelations Kent Tankred will perform a miracle
as Sons of God. Rumor has it they may also be joined by Lary 7, KREV
Minister of Audiology and pilot of KREVAIR. They will also bring us some of
the paraphernalia of their native land to show, possibly including
applications for citizenship. Prepare to doff your hats if the national
anthem <http://touchshop.org/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=64> of
KREV is played <http://www.touchshop.org/product_info.php?products_id=188>

Also appearing is KREV Minister of Lamination Egnekn Montgomery, peforming
lamination rituals (see below) in honor of his countrymen.

KREV citizen and Skull Defekts <http://www.skulldfx.com/> member Joachim
Nordwall opens with a solo set of electronics.
