Hi all, I'm trying to solve a problem with a P5 I just got. It looks like the -15v rail on the main board is shorting. Each time I'll power it up, the 10uf...
Hello, i have the same problem with VR2 and i have already changed PC-1 and R93 (VT5*** + 1k2 R93) ,q3, ic17, ic18, ic19, but it doesn't cause any change in...
i did a battery transplant and a little trace repair a few months ago and my Polysix was fine, but it had this 'slow warmup' when 2 of the program LEDs would...
I would suggest going back and checking the traces and chips again.? The acid damage can be subtle, and cover a wider area than you would think.? It is also...
I recently repaired a battery-leaked Polysix, where the acid had crawled via the GND wire to the control panel and damaged the analog mux ICs (4051) there! So...
Evenin' folks. I just got a Polysix in remarkable condition, which spent the last two decades in the original box and shipping box, tucked away in a closet....
does anyone know what IC 31... on board klm-367 does? it would be the first chip to be damaged from the acid leak....it is a 74LS08 type chip. readily...
It's probably the traces... unless the corrosion has leached into that chip. Personally, I've not seen anything "break" inside a P6 other than the corrosion...
... Look at the schematic (and by the way, it's pretty much impossible to achieve any successful repairs on the P6 without referring to the schematics) -- ICs...
... that ... be the ... know ... polysix's ... traces. ... `well, the reason im wondering about IC 31 is that in the repair exaple shown on the Old Crow synth...
well i tried to replace IC 31 and a couple questionably corroded traces by jumping wires point to point. This was to to solve my polysixes problem of multiple...
Did you totally remove the "bad" traces, or did you just jump them with wire? The "bad" traces could still be shorting each other... ... -- .sig -Chromatest...
YES, i scraped out the old traces (about 5), even under the IC31, then replaced the Ic31.... But now that more of the LED s stay on, im more confidant that...
I would suggest a new IC.. and a socket to plug it into. ... From: STEVEN PISTRICH <wasteking@...> To: PolySix@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wed, 14 Nov 2007...
My thoughts exactly, ive already ordered the IC AND a socket... ( parts cost under $2) that way i dont have to heat the IC at all....But I still wonder what...
... Well, I answered that question a few days ago -- see message #1692. That answer contains good and true information, based on having repaired about forty...
well, i replaced all the bad traces, put in a socket for the IC31 and a new IC31 that had never been heated/soldered into the socket, established all...
It sounds like you've reached the point where a scope is necessary for any meaningful work -- this will help you zero in on the problem areas, and is a much...
Hello everyone. I just bought a polysix > its amazing! Its my first analog synth, what a pleasure. My question to you, does it matter what the level of the...
Don't blow it up dude! The arpp. input accepts an s-trig gate signal. It's not an audio input. It syncs the P6's arpp. clock to external devices, typically...
Cant you just run jumper wires to the need contacts and leave the damaged traces? I dont see why time needs to be taken to remove the "balcken'd" area....
Two reasons... Unless you cut out all the cancer, it will continue to spread. Even though it might just look like a dead trace, it might be bridging to a trace...
... I have wondered this myself...everyone said that the acid would spread further eventually. In my own case, i did just jump wires at first...everything...
Can the acid permeate through the middle of the board? Such that cleaning the surfaces would be futile? Incidentally, what is the best method for cleaning...
I wiped the area good with rubbing alcohol multiple times. ... cleaning ... acid ... "wasteking1" ... "synthmdl76" ... remove the ... spread ... BETTER... ... ...
Technically, you'd need something basic to neutralize the acid. Alcohol is a good thing to clean an area and dissolve solids and wash them away. Of course,...
I had that idea and did that on my polysix...a bakingsoda wash to clean the battery area, but I cant say it stopped anything from eventually getting...
