*****OUR HOT PICKS FOR THE
WEEK:

KMFDM "TOHUVABOHU"
KMFDM, now in their 23rd year, remain a musical entity to be reckoned
with. Through relentless experimentation and reinvention they have continued to
unleash a barrage of songs that allow their fans to dance with abandon,
bang their heads or dissect the band's cuttingly cunning lyrics – sometimes all
at once!
KMFDM's new album on Metropolis Records, Tohuvabohu, is no exception.
'Tohuvabohu,' an Old Testament word meaning "wild and chaotic," perfectly
captures the spirit and energy behind the tracks contained therein. Sascha Konietzko, the
band's founder and leader, conducts his army of analog synths and wields his
razor sharp lyrics and vocals. Chanteuse Lucia infuses her tracks with a
fiercely powered urgency alternating with soft beauty. The KMFDM core remains solid
as ever with Jules Hodgson, Andy Selway and Steve White providing the
cranking guitars and forceful beats that KMFDM is known for.
While staying true to the Ultra Heavy Beat, Tohuvabohu also dares to
venture into new territory, ultimately destroying everything in its path. The
album offers up servings of dance ("Looking For Strange"), metal
("Saft Und Kraft") and industrial ("Spit Or Swallow"), along with the somewhat
unexpected elements of darkwave ("Tohuvabohu"), sweeping epic ("Bumaye")
and even rock/pop ("Fait Accompli").
Tohuvabohu adds to the growing list of languages sung in the KMFDM catalog
– Latin, Hebrew, Lingala (an African language) and Spanish can all be found
within. The Spanish language cover of Liaisons Dangereuses' dancefloor
favorite "Los Niños Del Parque" provides a perfectly retro/electronic
departure as one of the album's most memorable tracks.
Continuing the band's one of a kind relationship with their followers,
Sascha K. invited the fans to participate in the creative process via the Fan Phone.
For a couple of weeks fans from all over the world called in and recorded
stories of what KMFDM means to them. Kapt'n K., as he is known to the devoted horde,
wove their voices throughout the album's opening track, "Superpower",
demonstrating once again that KMFDM belongs to the people (and vice-versa).
KMFDM invites you to celebrate chaos with Tohuvabohu. "Get ready,
set, all systems go!" Released on Metropolis and available August 21st,
2007.

VOLTAIRE "OOKY SPOOKY"
"It's a Halloween party in a jewel-box," Voltaire comments about
Ooky Spooky, his most hilariously irreverent CD to date. Years in the making,
Voltaire's 5th album contains a duet with The Dresden Dolls' Amanda Palmer, a track from
a Cartoon Network movie plus his crowd-pleasing songs about zombies, devils
and dancing skeletons. In fact necrophilia, cannibalism, prostitution,
buggery, blasphemy, sacrilege, going to hell, bombing New Jersey and anal rape with
a lightsaber are just a few of the charming topics covered on Ooky Spooky.
Back are the violins and cellos but new to the Voltaire sound is a horn
section that brings to mind images of a mariachi skeleton band. But there is no
doom and gloom here, mind you. The album bounces along with a mixture of klezmer,
swing and ska that brings to mind such spooky-fun classics as Oingo Boingo's
"Dead Man's Party" or "Hell" by the Squirrel Nut Zippers.
Voltaire's love for Cab Calloway is evident in the song "Cannibal Buffet" (which seems
straight from a Betty Boop cartoon) and more so in "Land of the Dead" which
Voltaire wrote for the opening credit sequence of the Cartoon Network movie "Billy and
Mandy's Big Boogie Adventure."
As serious as it gets on Ooky Spooky is "Stuck With You," a duet
with The Dresden Dolls' Amanda Palmer. It's about a bickering married couple, but
even on this one kittens are drowned, Korean bayonets are employed and skeletons
sing to each other from side-by-side coffins. "I got all of the serious songs
out of the way on Then And Again," comments Voltaire, "specifically so that
Ooky Spooky could be a non-stop party of fun songs about the undead and hell and
devils and skeletons and all of the other fun stuff that's so close to my
heart." Released on Projekt and available July 31st, 2007.

*****HOT PRE-ORDERS!

SICKBOY "MUSICAL THERAPY"
the long-awaited third album by belgium's biggest breakcore artist
sickboy. with an unique and fresh sound, this 8 track album doesn't fail to surpirise
you with its efforts to combine fun and raw breaks. some say this isn't the usual
sickboy we can expect - others say you can expect anything from sickboy - but what
he did on this album is taken all his musical influences and simply made a difference that leaves you feeling of warmth and bass. it sounds like a
very personal album. remarkably are the countless synthesised landscape feel atmospheres that overule the overall sample-based work of sickboy. if one
thing stands out on the album is its wicked programmation, variation and
innovation. it almost doesn't sound like laptop music anymore and yet this album
truely sounds like a breakcore record that you've never heard before. Released on
Very Friendly and available July 23rd, 2007.

ZONK'T
"TROPE"
after having been creating a minimal ambient sphere with 'falling down fearless of
bruises',and having kept tied links between dub and industrial in the album
'itching',having preserved an omnipresent low bass frequency, oscillating between
click'n'cut, digital bones,a minimalist rhythmic and pulsed trance in 'purr', zonk't is
coming back with a fourth album, which could be a synthesis of all of
them. but one can at once recognize that '-trope' is a rhythmical album, quite close
in this way to 'itching', his second album released on brume records, but
this without taking 'purr' into consideration. if laurent perrier preserves his
trademark, namely big dub bubbles, frictional clinking, mechanical
repetition, high-pulse sequences, maintained tension, '-trope' manages to exude a
clever syncretism of past and present works keeping its coldness by borrowing
some elements from the elegant idm, filtered and sophisticated (somersault),
powerful and jerky rhythmic à la lfo (throb), saturated hip-hop/big beat drums on
high tech microsound (disruption), motives sometimes more playfull
(look.part.5), airial dubby cocoon (solar), pronounced melody, to end in a minimal
electronic sound which could appear in 'purr',without giving away his intent on the
next album. the general feel of the album, different from his previous
works, moves away from the dark industrial musicality,to lend it a more abstract,
brighter and futuristic tonality, but still keeping its clinical cold effect. the compositions stay very precise, rather minimal, opening up more and more
to bring out the texture and the topography of the sound without losing its continuous flow. Released on Sound On Probation and available June 26th,
2007.

NETHERWORLD "KALL: THE ABYSS WHERE DREAMS
FALL"
Always concerned with pushing even further its explorations on the side of
''drone'' drifts, angleREC adds to its parallel series, that is the MONDES
ELLIPTIQUES label, a new release in the form of the first official CD
production of Italian project NETHERWORLD. This CD has the rather evocative title of
''KALL - The Abyss Where Dreams Fall''. Alessandro Tedeschi's project previously
gained a fair share of attention with CDR or mini-CDR releases on fine labels
such as UMBRA, GEARS OF SAND, TAALEM/KOKESHIDISK! Alessandro also runs the GLACIAL
MOVEMENTS label, which gave us, in 2006, the acclaimed CRYOSPHERE
compilation. In a tradition that is anchored, at the same time, in avant-garde, ritual
soundz and dark ambient, with a typically Italian touch, NETHERWORLD gives a
peculiarly and elegantly organic and palpable feel to sounds that, in the hands of
others, would maybe fall flat …and it is as if the sound universe conjured by the
magic of NETHERWORLD was strangely…how could one say? OCCUPIED. Each moment,
each twist and turn of this sound adventure bears infinite richness and
elasticity, at all times …those are rather 'busy' sound layers but each of the
elements has sufficient breathing space and can differentiate itself from the other surrounding components. This antagonism represents one of NETHERWORLD's
greatest strengths. Another noteworthy antagonism: this tendency to propose us
ambiences that are excessively introspective, subdued, withdrawn into themselves,
but which, at the same time, expand, subtly dilate to occupy an
incommensurable space. Upon the first notes (or pulses??) of the opening track, ''KALL'',
this infinite abyss, envelops us and our dreams sink, dissolve, reinvent themselves…The sound propositions found on''KALL'' have enough movement
and density to please the ones fond of depth in their music, but the overall 'purified' feel will please the most discerning purist. For the occasion,
MONDES ELLIPTIQUES once again used the mastering talents of JOHN SELLEKAERS @
METARC and it is CHRISTIAN SALETTE who put his savoir-faire in our service for
the design of the sleeve and images. Limited to 441 copies! Deluxe cardboard
sleeve. Released on Angle Records and available June 30th, 2007.

YUNO "SATELLITE"
The Hamburg based band YUNO find their own unique sound between New Wave,
Indiepop and Disco elements. They count on strong melodic songwriting with
catchy hooks and danceable rhythms. Yuno have a classic lineup
(Guitar,Drums,Vocals) with 2 keyboards /synth players, which make them sound different and give
them a very strong live sound. With playing a lot of shows they have built up a
strong following in their native country Germany already. Their concept is
„handmade Pop with synthesizers" as YUNO don`t use backing tapes or sequencers
on stage at all. Everything is played by hand! They took their name from the legendary
Roland synthesizer Yuno which is a collector item nowadays. Released on
Major Records and available July 10th, 2007.

PUMICE
"PEBBLES"
NOW SHIPPING!!
Island living affords absolute polarities in both geography and the psyche
- tranquility & isolation. This duality is present in the music of
Pumice - the eccentric, flummoxing and oft-gloomy one-man band helmed by Stefan
Geoffrey Neville, a resident of the cultural hamlet of Auckland, New Zealand.
Though Pumice's skewed take on experimental folk and pop songwriting is firmly
rooted in the outsider vibes of downunder stalwarts like Pip Proud and Alastair Galbraith, the fruits of his labor are singular in scope as Neville weaves
his own personal mythology mired with comedy, melancholy, humility and tragedy
and delivered with vivid clarity. Pumice's pesky brand of loner Kiwi DIY - precariously devoid of fatuous pose - is a colorful, desolate soundworld
unto itself.
On Pebbles, the umpteenth Pumice full-length outing, Stefan Neville
excavates the mutant rock of Simply Saucer & the idiosyncratic, rhythmic
compositions of Moondog (at his most playfully abstract), and re-contextualizes those touchstones via the pages of a mid-70s Incredible Hulk comic book. Pebbles
offers the unlikely marriage of astute refinement and wild abandon, with
songs uplifting & sincere, yet dark, with oddball substance to spare.
Featuring some of Pumice's best makeshift pop songs to date, Pebbles even manages a few excellently fractured instrumentals that harkens to The Clean circa
Oddities.

HOMICIDE DIVISION "NO TEARS TO
WAR"
NOW SHIPPING!!
Homicide Division is a hard elektro / power EBM band hailing from
beautiful Brazil. The project was formed in 2004 and steadily amassed followers
around the world since that time, now breaking loose with a full-length album that is
certain to deliver full impact, spine-shattering sound to elektro
listeners around the globe. Homicide Division's distinct and stylized approach to
audio inspires thoughts of a world torn by war, the formalized and approved
"homicide" that men inflict upon each other and the band gives a symbolic
acknowledgment of the terror of this self-inflicted apocalypse in their use of gas masks and
camouflage when performing live. The conflict-oriented imagery of their CD
booklets was created by Austrian graphics master, Dead Dreamer,
deaddreamer.com in perfect complement to the band's identity. BLC is proud to present this
excellent debut as we take the hard march forward yet another step into
hell. Drop a bomb on boredom with one of the most exciting elektro projects in
some time: Homicide Division. Released on BLC.

THE PAIN MACHINERY "CHAOS
TRANSMISSIONS"
NOW SHIPPING!!
TPM, after more than a decade of face-smashing, fist-pounding anarchy in
their home environs of Sweden and now several years in force with USA label, BLC
Productions, now presents a double-disc set that offers up pure visceral excitement. On one disc, "Chaos Transmissions", the band culls
the finest of their audio from early days to present, profiling the project's electronic
evolution from near-minimalism to high-tech programming and production,
moving from a down-and-dirty grunge and punk feel on earlier compositions to more
current compositions that are equally aggressive but more melodic in
nature. Chaos Transmissions stands as a brilliant testament to the longevity of
the band and is packed to the gunnels with pristine electronica. "Chaos
Live", on the other hand, is precisely what the name implies – a blistering, full-length
concert from musicians who really come into their own when performing for
an audience, revealing a dimension that is impossible to resist. The Chaos
set will unquestionably be a collector's edition as well as a daily driver that
will stay in the CD player long after other releases are ejected and put to one
side. Released on BLC.

MARILYN MANSON "EAT ME, DRINK

NOW SHIPPING!!
Four years since his last studio album, and following up on his highest
charting radio single ever ("Personal Jesus", from Lest We Forget),
Marilyn Manson returns with "Eat Me, Drink me". Art openings, soundtrack
appearances, and personal circumstance have grabbed headlines for Manson in recent months,
setting the stage for the release of Eat Me, Drink Me, which is
unquestionably the artist's most personal statement yet. Always the provocateur, in what
may be the ultimate subversion of the code of aggro-rock, the songs are
immediately catchy - all jagged guitar hooks, anthemic choruses, with an overlying
glam-rock sheen. Lyrically Manson has never been more riveting, seemingly having
enough to draw from in his own life and from society at large to present a fresh,
snarling vision. Released on Universal.

GRENDEL "HARSH
GENERATION"
NOW SHIPPING!!
Grendel started out in 1997 under a different name, but due to the band splitting up the name was changed into the current one. The name Grendel originates from a character in an old mythological tale entitled
'Beowulf'. In this tale a beast, namely Grendel, would lure people from the nearby
villages and take them to the bottom of a marsh and drown them.
In the beginning of 2000 the first promo CD was released which included
the Dutch dance floor hit 'Strangers'. Within a very short period of time the
promo was being played at many locations throughout the Netherlands and internationally.
Half a year later the first demo CD was releases entitled 'Inhumane
Amusement'. This demo caught the ear of the German record label NoiTekk (a
sub-division of Black Rain records), which convinced the label to such an extent that they
signed Grendel immediately. This demo was re-mastered, re-designed and
released in combination with new material in 2000 as the band's debut album.
This first release set the band's name and received praise from throughout
the scene. To follow this up, the ''End of Ages EP'' was released in 2002 and
marked the project's international breakthrough with tracks such as the hit song
''End of Ages'', the pounding ''Catastrophe'' and the intrigueing ''Noisome''.
Next to this, the EP was completed with remixes done by FEINDFLUG, ARZT+PFUSCH and
GOD MODULE. With the unorthodox and original use of orchestration, obscure
samples incorporated with harsh and pounding EBM structures, this release again
received great reactions from both the media and listeners and would set Grendel's
sound for the future. In 2003, Grendel recorded their second full-length
release, entitled ''Prescription: Medicide''. This album was another step deeper
into the world of [Grendel] with it's complex, yet harsh, pounding & danceable
structures, dismal orchestration and distressed nature.
It meant a big step forward for the band, receiving overwhelming reviews,
becoming album of the month in Zillo and Orkus plus reaching top positions
in underground charts worldwide (incl. position 1 for several months on the
Dutch Underground Charts). Most recently Grendel recorded their latest EP,
entitled ''Soilbleed''. This release is, yet again, another big leap ahead in their progress and
blows away everything the band has produced before. 2007 now will see the
release of the long awaited third studio CD entitled ''HARSH GENERATION'' the band's
best release to date. Released on Metropolis.
