*****OUR HOT PICKS FOR THE WEEK:

THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS "ALCHEMICAL PLAYSCHOOL 2X10""
"Alchemical Playschool" is easily one of the most unusual Legendary Pink Dots albums ever released. Based on the LP and double CD "Indian Soundscapes" (Soleilmoon SOL 114/SOL 114 CD), these recordings are best enjoyed with a cold glass of Bhang Ki Thandai, following which the operation of heavy equipment or motor vehicles is strongly discouraged. Yes, this a trippy, psychedelic album, in the tradition of earlier "Chemical Playschool" albums, but it's been dusted with magical powders from The Orient, making it an altogether different experience from its predecessors. As experimental and esoteric works go, this is the band's definitive work. The album was conceived at the end of the the Dots' 2004 North American tour. Edward Ka-Spel met with Soleilmoon owner Charles Powne, who had recently returned from a stay in India. Charles gave Edward a copy of his "Indian Soundscapes" 2xCD, and invited him to take the material and use it in a new Dots recording. The resulting music borrows lightly from the source material, deftly blends it with the band's signature electronic wizardry, and distills a potent brew redolent with the aromas of saffron, cardamom and flowers. We think you'll find it both irresistable and unforgettable.

The first edition of "Alchemical Playschool" was released on May 8, 2006, as a CD box set limited to 400 copies. It sold out in a matter of weeks. This vinyl edition, limited to 250 copies, is presented in a deluxe silkscreened gatefold folder made of recycled sugarcane fiber, with a full-color 9.5 x 20 inch (24 x 51 cm) poster. Each record is kept in its own hand-made marigold flower petal-infused, plastic lined sleeve. While Soleilmoon is known for unique packaging and high quality presentation, this album stands above the rest. The audio content, however, is identical to the CD edition, so no one should feel compelled to purchase this record unless they love vinyl as much as we do!

Sing while you may! Released on Soleilmoon and available September 7th, 2007.

MOVING UNITS "HEXES FOR EXES"
In 2007, Moving Units joined Metropolis Records for the release of their new album Hexes For Exes. From the infectiously catchy guitar lines of "Pink Thoughts", and the dance electronic synths of "Crash 'N' Burn Victims," "The Kids From Orange County" to the rhythm driven "Paper Hearts" and the Joy Division and New Order influences on "Dark Walls" the album immediately stands out, with foot-tapping hooks making you take notice of the depth of the lyrics. Hexes For Exes is an album that has been crafted for the dance floors and to sing along with. The swagger and sleaze of "Pick Up The Phone" and the grooves of "Nail It To The Cross" were made for moving to. The slower tempo of "Kings and Queens Of Nothing" and "Hearts Departed" with its stripped down vocals and echoing guitar sound are a striking counterpoint to the dance vibes of the album, rounded out perfectly by the bass hooks and playful rhymes of "Blood Beats." Hexes For Exes breathes new life into dance rock. Released on Metropolis and available October 9th, 2007.

SIGNAL AOUT 42 "TRANSFORMATION - LIMITED"
After a hiatus of more than ten years, the Belgian cult-Electro-group Signal Aout 42 returns with a new album. In the Eighties and early Nineties, SA 42 (alongside their compatriots, Front 242) helped shape the budding Electro scene with a seamless array of club hits (Waterdome", "Dead Is calling" or „Submarine Dance) … and their "Immortal Collection" bore the catalogue number OUT 001, thus kick starting our label. Henceforth, this comeback is a rather special one for Out of Line. SA 42 return with a double load: on "Transformation", they have revigorated their trademark sound over the duration of two CDs … and it still sounds as fresh and innovative as when they first started out, more than twenty years ago. Massive soundscapes evolve into hard hitting EBM-onslaughts with hammering sequencers, often crossing the border into harder Industrial realms. The raw and dark voice of Jacky Meurisse has not lost any of its special appeal and the guys easily outdo most of the younger acts with their energetic and dynamic music. Signal Aout have retained two qualities that so many bands lack today: a characteristic identity and a distinctive sound… one that will still shake any club and that builds up an atmosphere that few can match. Released on Out Of Line and available September 15th, 2007.

3 Misfortune to the loser

LUSINE ICL "LANGUAGE BARRIER"
NOW SHIPPING!!
language barrier is jeff mcilwain's first album for hymen records since his iron city full length, released in 2002. (not including the 3'' cd contribution for the travel sickness box set or the condensed singles compilation). here, mcilwain explores his ambient side to a fuller extent than in any of his previous releases. beautiful chord structures melt with excerpts from his huge archive of field recordings. characteristic layers and treatments are mostly kept together by a metric structure accented with subtle rhythms. 'jetstream', for example, gets this structure from a sample-and-hold-like-treatment - restrained, but still very sonically detailed. language barrier is ambient electronic music at it's best, providing a relaxed, entrancing sentiment - music to be listened to, carefully and often. digipak packaging. released on hymen.

VEIN CAGE "KILLING DAYS... THE LOST YEARS"
NOW SHIPPING!!
The long awaited, long-lost follow-up to 1992's "Feral Din", "Killing Days..." is what this album could have been and almost was. Compiled by Mark Alan Miller (who also contributed some keyboards and programming to this effort) in 1999 and mastered for release in 2007, this collection of demos & rough mixes is now a powerful, driving album of industrial/rock/metal mayhem. (These 'lost tapes' sat on a shelf since 1995 when Peter DiNardi decided not to continue work on this record for personal reasons - quite evident in the themes and lyrical content.) This record shows clear signs of the progression from his earlier work to the more recent CDs. Especially notable in this way is the integration of hip-hip and metal grooves into the relentless fury. For both the Vein Cage/Out Out completist and industrial rock fan alike. Released on Radio Valkyrie Records.

CENOTYPE "ORIGINS"
FINALLY SHIPPING!!
For years Cenotype has been active in the New York City industrial scene, and after much fevered anticipation finally unleashes his debut CD with all of the kinetic energy of an underwater nuclear test. With a nod towards the early Daft/Ant Zen sound, Origins is 10 tracks of chest-kicking industrial rhythms and murky black ambience.

Like some archaic destruction machine, Origins unfolds in waves of grinding steel and arcs of white-hot electricity. Bass kicks warp and buzz below thick slabs of dirty ambient rumbling, and the violent churning rhythms make movement absolutely mandatory. This isn't armchair mood music, this is the soundtrack to an army of machines smashing your city to glass dust.

NOW SHIPPING!!
While still maintaining their electronic body music roots, Cesium_137 has continued to embrace other electronic dance music genres in order to forge a fresh sound and keep the dance-floors busy. For the duo's latest album, Proof Of Life, they enlisted the talents of accomplished electronic musician/producer Paul J. Geissinger (aka Starkey) for the vocal production elements and drastically changed their mix studio to open up fresh and innovative (analog) avenues of aural manipulation. The evolution of this new sound focuses on Cesium_137's classical music tendencies as well as their rampant technophilia. Tracks like "Flight," "Stars Turn Cold," "The Waking City," and "Inhuman" display the band's knack for creating high quality driving anthems, while songs like "Keep Me," and "Atmosphere" show their softer side. Proof Of Life gives thirteen reasons why Cesium_137 is one of the front runners in the trance-pop genre. Released on Metropolis.
