The Half-Dozen you need:

This week: Hello music
maniacs! You may have noticed that this week's newsletter is coming at you
on a
Saturday...we will be switching to Saturdays for the next few weeks to see
how
it goes. But let's not waste any more time before getting to our hot pick
of the
week, a real gem if you're into breakcore, noise, and wicked beats.
Straight out
of Toronto, via Detroit, Dross:tik Records teams up with
Low Res Records, and the guru himself c64
arrives with a mixed up CD featuring cuts from all the
Low Res
releases! Many of these tracks have never appeared on CD
before,
and none of them have seen the light of day seamlessly mixed
by c64. Easily the best breakcore release this
year;
features tracks by Venetian Snares, Cdatakill, I:Gor, Tarmvred,
Bombardier, and more! We should have mp3s up for this very soon,
but
for now check out the wicked cover art, and proceed to pre-order!
Limited
edition. Next up is a great new release from In The
Nursery, a
new score for the classic 1928 silent movie The Passion of Joan of
Arc. This is an essential CD for fans of the movie, and all those
interested in one of the classic electronic bands. Highly recommended and
very
interesting material! A Different Drum gives
us a
solid synthpop debut in Midnight Resistance.
Dancing
Ferret will release a new Dancing In The Dark
compilation this summer at a blow-out budget price. We're a bit
early
shipping out the great new releases from Hive Records
(genCAB and Panic Lift), but who's
complaining
about that?? If you haven't pre-ordered these monster industrial
epics yet,
what are you waiting for? Kick ass releases as always from
Storming the
Base
! Enjoy your weekend
and
Read on...

***** OUR HOT PICKS FOR THE WEEK
IN THE NURSERY " THE
PASSION OF JOAN OF
ARC"
The Passion
of Joan of Arc, directed by Carl Th. Dreyer in 1928, is considered one of
the
best silent films ever made. Rene Falconetti gives one of the greatest
performances ever recorded on film, as the young maiden who died for God
and
France. The original version of the film was lost for decades, after a
fire
destroyed the master negative. Dreyer himself attempted to reassemble a
version
from out-takes and surviving prints, but he died believing his original
cut was
lost forever. Almost miraculously, a virtually complete print of Dreyer's
original version was found in 1981. IN THE NURSERY’s new score,
commissioned
with the help of Sensoria Festival and the Barbican Cinema, reflects
the
film’s
dramatic highs and lows
–
from the emotional close-up photography of the trial through to
the fevered final scenes surrounding Joan’s death. Released on ITN
Corporation
and
available September 9th, 2008.

MIDNIGHT RESISTANCE "REMOTE"
Prepare to be stunned by the debut album from Midnight Resistance. "Remote" describes the feelings that many people feel when alone in a crowd-- despite the noise and the movement, one can sometimes feel distant, lonely, and remote. That also describes the sound of the album, which is packed with energy, intensity, and thick sounds, yet at the same time presents a lyrical depth and introspective attitude that one would experience while meditating alone in a remote landscape. This is a powerful synthpop album that can equally be a hit on the dancefloor as it can be your own room, on your own headphones, and in your car as you drive to far off destinations. Join the Midnight Resistance! Released on A Different Drum and available August 31st, 2008.

GENCAB "II TRANSMUTER"
NOW SHIPPING!!
Defying and redefining the conventions of electronic music, genCAB presents his explosive, brilliant debut on Hive Records, II transMuter. Flawlessly meshing glass-sharp shards of glitchy industrial aggression with delicate melody and painfully personal vocals, genCAB reconfigures fragments of trance, EBM, and distorted IDM into a whole new genre.
II transMuter is the new evolution of industrial music, a rewired and genetically enhanced archetype that gives a nod towards forbears such as Gridlock, NCC and Haujobb, then fiercely breaks free from all points of reference, spraying a swarm of chest-kicking rhythm and complex electronics in all directions. But this album is also a meshwork of emotions and synthetics, a liquid amalgamation of torn-open human emotion, brutally honest lyrics, and a shrieking heart at the center of it all. Reconfiguring the tired mechanics and flawed engineering of modern industrial music, II transMuter is a new breed of divergent electronic dance music and an absolutely stunning debut by genCAB. Released on Hive.

PANIC LIFT
"WITNESS
TO
OUR
COLLAPSE"
NOW
SHIPPING!!
Absolutely
essential, Panic Lift’s sophomore effort after the EP Dancing Through the
Ashes
is a monumental collection of songs, nearly any of which could stand on
their
own as singles. With the concussive force of a runaway supercollider,
Panic Lift
exploded onto the industrial music scene in 2006, and they instantly
careened to
the forefront of the NYC industrial music scene. Word of mouth and their
live
shows across the Northeast and California saw the debut EP quickly sell
out,
leaving fans waiting in anticipation of a full-length album. And now Hive
Records is pleased to release Witness to Our Collapse, a masterpiece of
storming
beats, memory-searing hooks and flawless production.
Equally destructive on the dancefloor as it is with more
reflective listening, this album is a testament to the ideology that
industrial
music can be both agressive and epic, as well as carefully crafted. The
songwriting transcends the repetitive, predictable cliches of current
cookie-cutter releases in the hard electronic scene and proves that the
future
of industrial music is here, and it’s going to kick you right in the
fucking
face.
Pounding, chestplate-stomping beats and pulsing throbs
of bass send convulsions through your body, while the razorwire synth
lines and
emotive fragments of piano and guitar pull a wicked smile across your
face. Featuring
more than a couple of surprises, this is not an album to be missed, and
will set the bar irretrievably high for other acts in the EBM and
electro-industrial scene. Released on Hive.
