*****THIS WEEK'S MUST-HAVE RELEASE!

THE FAINT "FASCIINATIION"
RECOMMENDED! (NOW
SHIPPING!)
The Faint are set to release their first album in
four
years ''Fasciinatiion'' through their own, newly-formed label, blank.wav.
''Fasciinatiion'', The Faint's fifth album, is the first in the band's
ten-year
history to be written, recorded, produced, art directed and released
entirely on
their own. ''Fasciinatiion'' is an album that draws on many defining
facets of
The Faint's sound, while remaining completely different from anything else
they've put out. A record whose themes include predictions and the future,
tabloid culture, the allure of what may never be, childhood lost and more,
''Fasciinatiion'' sounds as if it's been beamed in from a satellite whose
sole
purpose is observing, and making sense of, the details of every day
existence.
In certain ways, the album is the most mechanical and precise of the
band's
work: The vocals sounds less human than ever before; the bass lines are
more
mangled, keyboards spiral and squeal out of control; electronic pings and
stabs
invade the melodies; the lyrical anxiety and disdain of previous albums
pervades
almost every song on ''Fasciinatiion''. Opener ''Get Seduced'' is The
Faint at
their best, the song's critique of celebrity culture matched with one of
the
finest choruses they've ever written. First single, ''The Geeks Were
Right'',
draws on the tenets of futurist literature and sliding, siren-call
guitars.
''Fulcrum and Lever'' marries ambient noise with space references,
alienation
and a stuttering, flexing beat, while ''Mirror Error'' explores identity
and
consciousness within its perfect, propulsive electro-pop. Closer ''A
Battle Hymn
for Children'' flinches with nervous rhythms against resentment of the
future to
be inherited
and keyboards that sound like flailing voices (or is it flailing voices
that sound like keyboards? On
''Fasciinatiion'',
one can never tell).

***** OUR HOT PICKS FOR THE WEEK
THE BUG "LONDON
ZOO"
The London Zoo
was born
of three key moments. An introduction to the thriving Dub-Step scene (of
which The Bug is
very much a pioneer before it carried a name) and it's key
producers (via Kode 9) where Kevin realized there was others on the same
sonic
trajectory as himself, an introduction to Warrior Queen via his work with
Wayne Lonesome
on the Razor X Productions project, and a Mary Anne Hobb's
Breezeblock session which introduced him to Flowdan (Roll Deep), and Ricky
Ranking. All
three of which figure heavily in the end result and
live presentation. The Bug is the main project for Kevin Martin, a
producer who over the years has also been behind a diverse
range
of
projects. He is part
of
Techno Animal / Ice / God (all with Justin Broadrick
of Godflesh / Jesu), King Midas Sound, Razor X Productions (with
The
Rootsman), Pressure and Ladybug.

TORRENT VACCINE "TENTATIVE RESPONSE"
Tentative Response is the long anticipated debut album by Torrent Vaccine. An atmospheric mix of jagged beats and expansive soundscapes, this album is inspired by and evokes a sense of similar artists Cevin Key, Download and Meat Beat Manifesto. Featuring 14 songs produced by Brad Vaccine and Jeff Dodson (de-fragmentation) and then mastered by Steven Seibold (Hate Department, Uniform Media), this album has a vibrant lush sound from beginning to end. Music for the wasteland, this album is a 120 mile per hour ride through a barren and desolate earth. Forget what you know and enjoy the breeze. Released on Bit Riot and available August 18th, 2008.

DISTATIX
"MEDICATION"
From
London, [distatix]
brings forth the future of industrial techtronics.:medication: is a
cybernetic
journey into the fucked up mind. This newcomer to the electro scene will
distroy
dancefloors with its mixture of harsh vocals, soaring electro synths, and
hard
punishing
Slimelight technoize drums. Its as if Hocico was mutated with
Soman, then fused with Noisuf X, then injected with Combichrist, with a
sprinkle
of Xotox on top of it all. The perfect soundtrack to the cyber generation.
You
may have heard [distatix] remix such bands as Reaper and Kiew. Now they
deliver
their sound to the world. :medication: was produced by Kolja Trelle of
Soman, so
you know it will be pounding your speakers. The machines have awaken...
and they
are coming to FUCK YOU UP! Released on Bractune and available August 18th,

EMILIE AUTUMN "GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN / BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY - LIMITED + T-SHIRT"
Limited Collectors Set: digiCD+T-Shirt or Girlie!! For the die-hard fans! The new digiCD plus a wonderful T-Shirt or Girlie shirt of this enchanting artist.
T-Shirt sizes available: S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL. Girlie shirt sizes available: XS, S, M and L. Please email us your desired T-shirt before FRIDAY AUGUST 8TH!
In her emotionally charged and absolutely
incomparable "Victoriandustrial" style, studded with killer beats and
spattered
with violins and harpsichords, Emilie Autumn mesmerizes us once more.
Never one
to play by the rules, Emilie Autumn ignores the standard release schedule
established by other artists, and offers up her deliciously ironic
renditions of
two of the most notorious songs of all time. To the tune of this badass,
broken-doll burlesque, the Asylum is opening, the inmates have escaped,
and
revenge is just around the corner... While shamelessly showing off her
bizarrely
wide vocal range, Emilie Autumn's Asylum world becomes ever more real for
us
with every note, and by injecting her perverse brand of humor into the
deadliest
of subjects, Emilie Autumn turns the gothic world on its head, and it's
about
damned time. Wonderful release with luxurious 6-panel digipak and a
12-pages
booklet with backstage insights into the Asylum, strictly limited to 3,000
copies world-wide. Released on Trisol and available late August.
