***** OUR HOT PICKS FOR THE WEEK :)

GOT ALFA?

IMPLANT "IMPLANTOLOGY + THE SURGICAL FILES"
Implant, the project of Len Lemeire, has been trying to contribute to the already massive inheritance of the Belgian electronic scene since 1992. 8 full length albums, 7 EP’s, uncountable remixes and several productions later, one can only agree that the music itself is the universal language. It was because of his music that Len teamed up with several of the early pioneers of electronic music. When ANNE CLARK heard Len’s remix for ‘Sleeper in Metropolis’, Implant became the electronic live band of ANNE CLARK for 5 years, resulting in guest contributions of Anne on 2 albums (‘Audio Blender’ and ‘Self Inflicted’). When Jean-Luc de Meyer (FRONT 242) heard an implant track, he decided not only to contribute vocals for 1 track, but a full blown new project was born under the flag of 32CRASH. Building on a live reputation with concerts all over Europe and a short visit to the USA, IMPLANT is ready to engage in another musical adventure called : ‘Implantology’, an attraction sonic pole where all the various musical orientations IMPLANT went through in his lustrous career converge and unite. Keeping the innovation flourishing, IMPLANT forge the frontiers of eclecticism and sound diversity more than ever before and even manages this time injecting some acoustic guitar sounds into their impressive mélange of modern electronics, eighties melodic less-is-more flavors, industrial dance beats and beautifully contrasting male/female vocals. Len is here once again surrounded by prestigious guest vocalists like his partner in crime FRONT 242's Jean-Luc De Meyer, but also NEON JUDGEMENT, PSY'AVIAH, PLASTIC NOISE EXPERIENCE or yet ANGELSPIT! Did you have your IMPLANT today? The album is also available as a deluxe limited 2CD box including a 13-track bonus remix album featuring reworks by acts like THE HORRORIST, XOTOX, ATTRITION, SIGNAL AOUT 42, PSY'AVIAH, HYPNOSKULL, etc. Released on Alfa Matrix and available May 15th, 2009.

TAMTRUM "F*** YOU I'M DRUNK + STRONGER THAN CATS"
Spring 2009 - France: Aix-en Provence’s authorities put the Southern region of France on a state of "maximum alert" after the departmental police reported serious risks of a new popular revolt – exactly 3 years after the last curfew was imposed. Punished for writing the very controversial album “Elektronic Blakc Mess” and for promoting anarchy and revolution on the French music scene, the TAMTRUM gang had their room and phone monitored for years so it seemed. And this is probably how the secret services discovered the French gang’s imminent new assault, expressing once more their engaged desire for a musical regime change. Here is the real story of what is occurring in Aix-en-Provence today: communiqués and other pieces of evidence prove that TAMTRUM shall be back in town exactly 3 years after their last opus, armed with a conceptual 3rd album that will for sure once more let ink flow… Note that there is a secret code-link hidden in the album that opens doors for fans to experience extreme artistic freedom – allowing the listeners to take control on the future of the music industry itself. TAMTRUM’s new sonic shock is conceptually divided into 2 radically different parts:  the A-side with “Fuck You I’m Drunk” and the B-side with “Stronger Than Cats”…The adventure starts straight into it by inviting you, against any expectation, to a depraved cocktail party of brainless electro rock’n clash orgy full of sex, drugs, alcohol and other forbidden sounds. TAMTRUM are partying at full speed with provocative nonsense “drunk'n fuck” lyrics over groovy carrying tunes. The toxic combination opens your senses to the maximum and prepares your intoxicated body to next take on the “Stronger Than Cats” assault. This “B-side” reveals a more deviant and darker face of the band, bringing “dark elektro on speed” tracks, carrying you with them on another upbeat bad trip, on their spiralling descent to hell and the end of the “fête”… Sylvicious, Benoit XVI and Fixhead dared to challenge the TAMTRUM sound and are now fucking ready for another infectious and shocking tour across Europe that will bring this new level of hi-energy and merciless aggressive-groovy assault to their summoned audiences. Remember that TAMTRUM is above all a live band bringing strip-tease shows and other weird & unpredictable liquid / fluo-chemical performances to stage, which only reinforces their brutal, uncompromising and decadent image. Keep the fainthearted kids secluded at home! For the hardcore fans of TAMTRUM, the album is also available as a CD Splicase deluxe edition strictly limited to 666 copies with explicit stickers and on a bonus second cd: the sonic recording in 6 acts of selected total reinterpretations of TAMTRUM’s new hits by Claus Larsen (LEAETHER STRIP/KLUTAE) in total freedom of musical speech. This is not a collaboration, this is a true electronic devastating rape by the master of electronic mayhem. Released on Alfa Matrix and available June 6th, 2009.

SEIZE "CONSTANT FIGHT + REMATCH"
It took more than 60 months for [SEIZE] to complete the follow-up album to their brilliant "The Other Side Of Your Mind" CD. An extremely long wait for the fans who will now soon be rewarded for their patience and faith in this talented London-based act. During this time iSandi, Rosie and Steven went through tough personal problems, experienced severe computer trouble that erased a nearly completed album.  Against all odds, they survived their heavy doses of frustration, each time fighting back and gaining energy from their steadily successful live shows. Meanwhile they continued experimenting with new gear and other production software, multiple collaborations with other artists and in the end, [SEIZE] simply returned stronger and more mature than ever before in this constant fight, called "life". "Constant Fight", [SEIZE]'s 3rd album is full of Electro House styled music with a British Pop touch. Be open-minded and imagine a jam session between KOSHEEN and DAFT PUNK, and even though we're quite close to this envision-jam session, [SEIZE] has its own identity featuring iSandi's brilliant soaring vocal talent!  Break Beat loops, melodic piano strings, electro dance sequences, tight guitar riffs, a touch of laid-back trip-hop and alluring female vocals… all nicely presented in as faultless production work. An album to play at maximum volume to enjoy its full vibe! The Dance scene will also enjoy the bonus 15-tracker album "ReMatch" included in the deluxe limited box edition full of kicking club mixes and illuminating collaborations. ***** HOT PRE-ORDERS!!

EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN "ENDE NEU - RE-ISSUE"
On the day of the band’s 16th anniversary, April 1, 1996, Blixa Bargeld wrote “Ende Neu” (Ending New), a text that immediately advanced to the title song of the Einstürzende Neubauten’s seventh album. This work marks one of the most important turning points in the band’s history to date, not only because of the strength of its almost prophetic words, but also thanks to some important musical developments as well as influential changes in band members. Although the four composers leafed through their archives of the “industrialization” of modern music once again for this production, developing and bringing to light long-forgotten blueprints and chronicles for the most obscure sound makers of all times, the Einstürzende Neubauten’s compositions were never before as harmonious and lyrical as on “Ende Neu.” “Stella Maris,” a ballad performed in duet by Blixa Bargeld and Meret Becker accompanied by opulent string instruments, is probably the best known song that resulted from this reorientation. One of the first representatives in their new musical guild, this song helped the Einstürzende Neubauten to make the jump to MTV programming and the like. As could be expected, the band’s new demeanor led to heated discussions among fans. Friends of the band who had remained skeptical until then quickly embraced the new sound, whereas supporters of the first album could no longer get used to the unusually conciliatory sounds. Nevertheless, the majority of fans accompanied them down the newly paved path, becoming grateful witnesses to what were probably the most sensational evolutions of the Einstürzende Neubauten since their debut of “Kollaps” (Collapse) in 1980. Even the press appreciated the work and primarily found words of praise for it. However, despite everything, the album also signified the end of the band’s long-standing configuration consisting of Blixa Bargeld, N. U. Unruh, Alexander Hacke and F. M. Einheit. F. M. Einheit left the group to devote more time to solo activities. Now, a year before the Einstürzende Neubauten’s thirtieth anniversary and thirteen years after the debut release of “Ende Neu,” the album – with reworked artwork and enhanced by bonus material – is coming back into stores under the in-house label Potomak. In addition to the track “Bili Rubin,” normally available only on the single “Stella Maris,” the CD includes the original enhanced section of the formerly limited edition video clips and sound samples from the studio works. Released on Potomak and available May 1st, 2009.

DARKMEN "GUILTY!"
Machineries Of Joy is enriched by the newborn Darkmen. Although around for quite some time in the underground demo scene,  Darkmen can easily be compared to a good vintage wine that became better with time. With impressive timing, they are here to take their stand and start the battle to earn that well-deserved place amongst the big players in the Electronic  Body Music (EBM) scene. Darkmen  officially start their battle with this EP called "Guilty EP" (MEN001), where two tracks from their upcoming album "Guilty By Association" (MEN002) named "Stop the machine" and "No future" get the full remix treaty.  Packed with an extreme high quality content, this strong set of remixes will force you to move while aching for more brutal electronics. Next to both "Transmission editions" of the main tracks (produced and edited by their label mates Ionic Vision), Darkmen themselves deliver a different, more subtle, and danceable approach of "No Future" in the form of their "No more pain mix". Ad:key enhances solid angst driven electronics with his "Detune mix" of "Stop the machine" while another new coming band A.D.A.C. 8286  embraces another violent stomping exploration, showing that there is a lot more quality wandering around in the current scene. But the icing on the cake here is delivered by two current major EBM dinosaurs Orange Sector and Ionic Vision. None less than Orange Sector deliver two extreme bashing versions of "No future" ("Angst vor der Zukunft" and "Was ist die Wirklichkeit"), both different in tempo but so fierce, so true old-school. Last in taking the remix responsibility is Ionic Vision, who unleash their machines leading into another assault  for the EBM dance floor ("Ionic machines take over"). All in all, this EP shows what talent is coming up strong, Belgian Darkmen is kicking hard, feel it, learn it, choose it! This "Guilty EP" (MEN001) serves as a warm up masterpiece for an even bigger masterpiece, their upcoming album "Guilty By Assocation" (MEN002).

SILENT KILLER "EVERYONE BLEEDS"
The biggest surprise for those familiar with the usual brutality of Silent Killer's music is the sheer accessibility of the entire album. Taking elements of the most recent electro happenings and fusing them with heavy and precise drum n bass beats, EVERYONE BLEEDS is a true crossover masterwork. From the melodic opening of Savior to the uplifting synths in The Great Machine the album rocks like drum n bass thugs at the electro club – partying nonstop and smashing the place up while loving every second. Remixes from top level dnb producer Submerged and up and coming Guerilla head honcho Breaker liven up the album, without distracting from the vibe. Melodic interplay and razor sharp reeses dot the record while thick, powerful beats and subsonic basses fire underneath, keeping the groove moving throughout. Surprising, elevating, and memorable, EVERYONE BLEEDS is a testament to Silent Killer's maturing as an artist. Label: Ohm Resistance is Brooklyn’s premier drum n bass and experimental electronic label. The label has transformed from drum n bass 12" powerhouse to cutting edge electronic project pioneer. Released on Ohm Resistance and available April 27th, 2009.

THE PROJECT PALE "OUR INVENTIONS AND HOW THEY FAILED US"
The Project_Pale is fronted by Kingston NY's Jason Selden, known to the drum n bass world as Glitch from the Chosen. Jason's guitars are reminiscent of Jesu, Isis, and have an edge that comes from his tutelage under Cynic's Paul Masvidal. Bass duties are covered by a familiar face to most Ohm Resistance followers: Submerged. Rounding out the group is Brooklyn's Sensi*star, aka Phillia Kim Downs, who vocalizes on several of the albums tracks. Our Inventions and How They Fail Us is an amazing debut record from a newly formed group. Running the gamut from upbeat synth rock to droning, shoegaze songs and always with an undercurrent of metal and electronic music influence, the album does not sit in one space quietly, but leads the listener on a journey thru many styles and iterations of the guitar/bass/keyboards/vocals/drums chimera. Produced by Bill Laswell, the album delivers, from the over the top synth melody of Driving These Icy Roads, to the Pink Floyd-esque vocals on Pulled Out To Sea, to the epic instrumental Transatlantic. Vocoder action, dubbed out mixes, and even the appearance of a distinctly drum n bass reece line in a rock track power up this Our Inventions and How They Fail Us creatively and leave you wanting more. Released on Ohm Resistance and available May 4th, 2009.

THE RABID WHOLE "AUTRAUMATON"
In a forward moving world with originality approaching obsolescence, innovation remains a power possessed by few. Effortlessly fusing electronica with rock, The Rabid Whole manages to reverse the rotation with distinguishable identity. From the industrial, machinegun-chug of “Selfish Nature” to the symphonic dirge of “Distant Blue Skies”, this group’s musical versatility delivers the much-needed breath of fresh air to save from certain suffocation. PLASTIK JOY "3:03"
Plastik Joy's Debut album 3:03 which gets its name from the time of morning when the recording sessions usually came to an end. The duo of Cristiano Nicolini (ITALY) and Fannar Ásgrimsson (ICELAND) with a bit of supportive help from a few friends created an album that emits a definitive nocturnal quality. It feels as sensual as it is lonely, as dreamy as it is conscious, and as bright as the dim glow of midnight street lights, definitely music for after the after party. A perfect soundtrack to watch the sun return to its perch or to loose yourself in on a hazy day. Released on n5MD and available May 5th, 2009.

SPC ECO "3-D"
SPC ECO (pronounced SPACE ECHO after the vintage Roland 201) are Rose Berlin (Voice of an Angel), Dean Garcia (Production, Bass, Drums, and Guitar), and Joey Levenson (Sonic Guitar FX).

SPC ECO combine layer upon layer of guitar-laden soundscapes along with fierce electronic drums and fluid dub bass lines. Within, without and textured throughout is Rose Berlin’s voice, one of the most delicate and wondrous instruments known to man. SPC-ECO is a spaced out hybrid of “nu gaze tripadelica” that combines soul-lifting, mind-expanding, heart-soothing bliss with monolithic beats, heavy bass grooves and layers of effects...a beautiful cacophony of ambient noise echoes. Released on Noiseplus and available April 27th, 2009.
