Hello everyone,

I'm hoping to start digging into working on the articles (and especially album stubs) for Spirit and Randy California in the near future, since they're in rather poor shape. However, I wanted to ask a few questions to see if hopefully somebody could clear things up.

1) I'm thinking that there should be a combined article regarding the Spirit Live/Live Spirit/Made in Germany/etc. albums, since they are all basically culled from the same recordings. However, I have to ask -- does anybody know the order in which these records appeared?

2) I've always assumed that the Beggar's Banquet release of Potato Land was the first one, but I remember Bruce Gary once giving the impression that the Rhino release was the first version. The Beggar's Banquet version appearing first would certainly make more sense with the petition story, but does anybody know for certain which version was the initial release? Also, can anybody verify whether the Chord CD release had the full version of "My Friend" or the cross-faded version which appeared on the original LP (and Line CD)?

3) What exactly are the differences between the various LP versions of Euro-American? Unfortunately, I don't have my copy of the Euro-American Years on hand to reference, but I do remember that some of the versions were packaged with bonus 45s (the German version, for example, had a bonus 45 with Grosser Herrscher [sp?]). Were there any actual differences in the track listings between LP releases, or were the tracks listed in the CD liners as being 'exclusive' to a particular release only released as bonus 45s with the album?

If anybody could help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Peace
Kevin Loy
