Plug for Reba: NOW that's a good show
A year or so ago, a conservative ''family'' think tank knocked Reba McEntire's WB sitcom Reba for being unfamily friendly. There's an unmarried pregnant teen and a philandering husband on the show, after all. (Shriek!)Now Reba's show has picked up an ally in the National Organization for Women, which issues an annual ''Watch Out, Listen Up'' report that examines how women and girls are portrayed on prime-time TV shows. NOW specifically looks for shows that portray women as brainless bimbos or targets of violence.NOW gave Reba a thumbs up, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, ''for portraying a single mom who makes effective parenting decisions.''
"The baby girl without a chance, a victim of circumstance...
The one who ought to give up but she's just too hardheaded...
A single Mom who works two jobs, who loves her kids and never stops...
With gentle hands and the heart of a fighter...I'm A Survivor!"--Reba McEntire "Greatest Hits Vol. 3, I'm A Survivor"-- 2001
