Re: Digest Number 871

Of course I've said things I've regretted! Did I miss a retraction
from Reba or a quote from her saying that she has regretted her
childish and erroneous statement about the Dixie Chicks having their
foot in their mouths due to their comments about the person that has
been called the worst president the US has had in the last 100 years?
The president that has the lowest approval rating since NIXON?

As I said originally, I'm a former Reba fan. I loved her for well
over a decade. I was in attendance at her concert the tour that she
lost her band. I think she is SO very talented, and a very funny
lady! I don't think she was 'classy' when she made her comment about
fellow women in her profession! I think women have it hard enough
making it in what is often referred to as a man's world. When the
Dixie Chicks made the comment about Mr. Bush, they were using their
hard earned American right to speak out against our political leaders!
It is what has made the country work for over 200 years! It seams
that in the last 6 years, when someone speaks out against this
country's leadership, we call that person un-American! When it is
actually the opposite. One of the last major powers to persecute
people for speaking against their leader went down in defeat over 60
years ago, after killing millions of it's citizens!

I may be ignorant of what Reba has 'done' for the 'world' recently. I
am very open to hearing a list of her major accomplishments for
mankind. I know personally that the Dixie Chicks have done a lot of
charity work for Katrina victims, and being from Louisiana I thank
them for that!

In closing, I apologize for my rather blunt email to this group.
Again, I have loved Reba for many years. I am HURT by her rude
comment to a group that I support. I believe that she has right to
exercise her hard earned right of Free Speech. I just wish she would
use it to make changes for good, not for cutting down her fellow
entertainers.

Thank you for allowing me to vent!
