The Mainspring Marsh article I posted earlier mentions 'sound collectors'
for carbon microphones and I still toy with the idea that horns could be
used for such a purpose. Maybe the ambiguity of the Paramount CJBs and even
the H5s can be put down to use of carbon mikes.
I was using both the JRT Retrieval and the Archeophone CJB transcriptions.
Which is better varies from side to side and certainly session to session
but the Archeophone is better on the Paramounts and has mostly cleaner
copies of the OKehs although lacking the JRT magic touch.
