I always encourage that you read the information at the website for all the latest and detailed information on what Ricochet Dream is all about and which lastest EM releases are in stock.
The format of this newsletter is still in its infancy, but here are the
important details at Ricochet Dream:
- Vault 4 (4 CDs) sets were shipped from TDI to me on the release date of
3/3/05. When they get here, I'll fill all these long outstanding orders. I
hear this is a limited release of about 2000 sets, so orders are good and
I'm almost sold out. Let me know NOW if you wish to get this set so maybe I
can get another order in before they are all gone.
- ALL Edgar Froese CDs that I brought back from the Exhibition in Berlin
sold out within 2 days. Next time I will order EF CDs ( to fill backorders)
is when the next remasters are released. I apologize for those that missed
out, but the best way to guarantee the CD is to pre-order with me. Since the
Euro is so expensive for Americans and the postage even higher, I cannot
invest much in advance to anticipate orders. Just let me know that you are
interested so that next time I have enough for all the closest fans.

As for Ricochet Gathering 2005
Plans are going forward at Gomera Is. Spain.
The basic plan is that we "invade" a hotel on the island and stay there.
The "castle on the beach" will store all equipment and provide us with a PA,
great sound, mixers, lighting, etc. All we have to do is show up, plug in,
and play!
I expect that we have open rehearsals into the night from Oct. 16-19. On
Oct. 20, they would like to publicize a formal EM "exhibition" and we can do
a concert. It will be a full moon and we can look from the "castle" to the
ocean - BEAUTIFUL! I am working the details now with the management - they
seem very open to this Ricochet Gathering concept.
As far as a musician list and musician terms, this will be worked through
the summer. But you can expect some of the old retro favorites, such as FSP,
AirSculpture, Arcane.... This time we are adding Andy Pickford and Paul
Nagle (aka as STDM) which will play some cool retro EM. Remote Spaces wants
to join us again and it's looks like another jam session. Conrad Gibbons is
probably salivating right now :-)
As far as Ricochet Dream releases:
- I have burned all the Poland DVDs (they look great - thanks to the
professional Jarek Degorski).
I am in the process of printing the covers and then they go out....
- The Poland 4CDR Demo compilation is complete, but I am outsourcing the
graphics to my best friend Jakub Orzeszek in Toronto. So once we get this
worked out, these LONG LONG overdue demos will be mailed. Please never
doubt, but you can shout from time to time. I know that some fans paid 6
months in advance for these, and those will get a bonus for their patience.
After this - Ricochet Dream will concentrate on some NEW CD releases:
The first will be "Sunya Beat Live in Poland"
THEN
"Ricochet Gathering Poland 2004"
THEN
"Steve Jolliffe Live in Poland" (with the 1967 TD track w/Edgar Froese on
guitar).
Note: I will send him this demo and we'll see what the reaction is...
Besides all the notes, there is always something going on. Sometime one

Here is a short release update:
Ricochet Gathering Poland 2004 DVD is officially released. I can supply in
PAL or NTSC.
Price is $15. The DVD-r or DVD+r is shipped in a slimline CD case with a
beautiful cover.
There is no label on the DVD since some players may reject stick-on labels.
Jarek Degorski did a fantastic job in making this DVD, but again, he is a
professional at this.
The DVD is 90 minutes and features a cut from each performance and also nice
shots of the jam sessions in the cabins and the Komarno sessions!
There are many new releases planned and hopefully they are somewhere over
the big pond right now.
As EM fans have learned - patience is always required because almost every
release comes from Germany and the post/customs is never certain.
I encourage you to check out my updated website www.ricochetdream.com and
make note of the CDs that state (last one) next to them. These I will not
reorder and make sure you get them, while you can.
See you in Gomera in October! Plans are coming together and once it's
settled I'll make a comprehensive update to the wesite about this GREAT

Today all the new Manikin releases arrived and I shipped to the paid
(patient) orders.
I must get some grief for the delayed/delayed Poland 4-CDR release. But I
have been working on this for a long time with my son Patrick and trying to
figure out how to fit it into 4-CDRs - Patrick has been doing a great job
following mixin and mastering directions. So, soon we will finally have a
Poland 4-CDr set that is not half/fast but sometinng of quality that my son
will be proud of - and I'm sure you'll enjoy!
We are almost done! I think you'll be able to pass out in bliss......

Here is a quote from my good friend from EM - Archie Patterson/Eurock:
"The 2 TD LIVE 1986 CDs are delayed as well until April 26 (due supposedly
to
Edgar re-doing some mastering mistake?). So all orders for those titles will
be sent out ASAP upon their arrival."
So it looks like the sets that TDI shipped to me on their release date may
be collectibles. I only have a couple left at the cheap price of $49.90 -
1st time orders only.
Also, the new Spyra's (from Manikin & Poland) are still availble along with
a few DSOM X's.
I also have a couple of Arcanium & Friends double CDs left. I have tried to
ship most orders by today or tomorrow, but if you do not get them next week,
please forgive me and they will be shipped next Saturday. It just seems I'm
always on an airplane - but you WILL get you order - don't worry.
Also for those that are waiting on email replies - they will come - don't
worry. Right now I need to put some fertilizer and weedkiller on my grass

Little Garden of Sounds II”
(Wydawnictwo, 2004)

Certain musicians cause me to run out of superlatives, and Spyra certainly falls into that category. Already producing music of high quality, it seems that since he teamed up with Chris Lang he just keeps getting better and better. Case in point is this live recording featuring the two of them and a cast of others. After introductions, a brisk little sequence gets us going on “Jeden,” followed by Robert Golla’s fast-fingered guitar playing, in a style similar yet distinct from Manuel Gottsching. Sometimes I find the guitar a bit too forward in the mix, and just a tad busy for the surrounding timbres, but for the most part the ensemble cast combines very effectively. Jo Mar Gardena’s violin balances the sounds and the mood perfectly, much like Klaus Schulze’s forays into blending classical and electronic music. Passing the eleventh minute the music comes alive with a pounding steady beat, forceful sequencing and bright swirling loops of sound. Jochen Krajewski’s synthesized voice is added, and I can’t decide if it works or not, but it’s brief. This energetic passage is followed by a more disjointed experimental section. Despite the abruptness of the change, I find it really works, once again in a somewhat Schulze-like manner, like “Sebastian In Traum” on his Audentity album. Golla plays kalimba to start “Two,” which evolves into an extremely pleasant synth, beats and bass affair, very much in the spirit of Spyra’s first My Little Garden of Sounds disc. “Drei” delves back into more experimental realms, a variety of odd sounds combining to make fresh, inventive music that defies easy categorization. Schulzian synth pads emerge later, along with a relaxed steady rhythm lending a jazzy flavor. The violin plaintively echoes in the background. At least two more distinct change-ups in sound palette and mood keep the music on the move before the track ends. “Czietyre” has the quirkiest beginning yet, seemingly random sounds from an unidentifiable instrument. But again the music doesn’t sit still for long, and eventually we’re up and running again with bass, beats, sizzling guitars, and violin, making a unique blend of classical electronica progressive rock. The brief “Quinto” brings things to a comforting conclusion. Adventurous, diverse, and strongly recommended.
Wolfram der Spyra is one of the most versatile and talented musicians working in EM today. On the one hand, he can make tunes that you can tap your feet to and hum in your head all day long. On the other hand you have Meditationen, a set of three luxuriously long tracks that are velvety smooth, perfect chill-out music for winding down at the end of the day. “Mentalized (preloaded)” is full of gorgeous pads and choirs, little clicks of percussion, and Spyra’s trademark ambling bass line. Everything is placed just so, including the sparse piano that doesn’t appear until past the 22:00 mark. I would advise strongly against driving or operating heavy machinery while listening, as this music will lull you into a dangerously comfortable place, especially the soft twitters and water sounds at the end. “Composure” starts with Spyra’s always-skillful piano playing, lending a dramatic emotional touch. We then move seamlessly into pure synth textures, nearly silent at first. It develops slowly, patiently, living up to its name. In the eleventh minute, a beautiful crystalline sequence emerges, like Schulze’s classic “Crystal Lake.” Synth strings rise over the top, completing the hypnotic effect. For a few minutes near the end a different atmospheric passage appears, then the sequence returns, and finally the piano brings the track full circle. The word “masterpiece” may be overused, but it applies. Lastly, “Future of the Past Part II” whooshes in on the wind and a bubbly bass line. A warbly synth lead dances about brightly. After a melodic beginning, the music whirls briefly into a spacey tripped-out midsection before returning to the main theme. Drums and choirs take the mood from optimistic to melodramatic just like that, and then back again. It forms an upbeat finish to this great CD.

I was on the phone today with the Tangerine Dream office - here is some
status on certain items:
1. Jerome Froese - Neputes: CDs are being sent via airmail tomorrow to me.
So those that have pais or back-ordered will get these soon. I also have a
few CDs each of Jerome's back catalog.
2-3. Tangerine Dream - Arizona & Rockface: Both of these CDs are being
back-ordered by TD from the manufacturing plant. Once they are in, I will
stock them again for those patient fans that are still waiting for these
releases. A time estimate was not provided to me.
4. Edgar Froese - Orange Light Years: This will be released soon once the
graphics are finished by Edgar. Music has been mastered.
5. Gert Emmens - When Darkness Falls Upon the Earth: I expect this one in
anyday since it was mailed from Holland over two weeks ago. I have the new
Emmens/Heij in stock now!
6. I only have a last few copies of "Space Flight Orange" and "Vault 4" (4
CDs in white slipcase). These will not be re-stocked once sold.
So I hope this information gets everyone up-to-date on the status of any
outstanding orders.
Next come the new webupdates in a few days...

Since I sent out my notice about "Neptunes" being in stock, I have to update
you on the shipping.
Since many have ordered the new TD releases (which I expect within a week),
I will ship Neptunes with them.
