Hi Paul,
why not try this request at Ron's website, ronsexsmith.com, where 'all the
action' is these days?!
Cheers,
Chris
Hi Chris,
I think I must have! I'm pretty tired, just done 5 Glenn Tilbrook
shows, and at my age!! Unfortunately I won't be able to get down to
London. I wish Ron would play Liverpool, Chester or Wrexham, that
would be great for me, or a private gig in my living room, that would
be very good! I'd invite you of course!
I need to check the website more regularly, it's just a case of never
enough time.
Have a great time at the Scala.
Mitzi.

Hi Mitzi,
did you recently send this? There's a few messages from a few years ago too....
Better these days to post your stuff at Ron's site, but maybe you already know
that!!
Don't suppose you'll be at the Scala on Nov. 2?

Got the new album this week and it is great, as was to be expected.
I'm surprised there are no comments on this list about it yet.

I have 8 great tickets for Ron Sexsmith & Nick Lowe at the Rams Head

(The four I will be using are Table 102!)
They are at tables of 4 and are # 103 "1st row" stage right &
#105 "2nd row" dead center .
(Look here.)

I'll be there but need to unload these at cost $45 per w/ fees.
They are etix so I can e-mail them and do a Paypal thing.

I think he's due back here in UK around May or June, but we;ll just have to wait

Hi Mitzi,
yes, I went to the Air Studios gig, where Ron was on for about 45 mins. He was
great, as usual. I've put up a few notes about it at his website Forum, under
the section 'Several Miles'.
There's also something there about his 'Secret Gig' two days later, which I
didn't get to go to as I was too tired - and no one to go with on the day,
anyway!
And Daryll of Toronto has given a link to one of the songs Ron did then, with
Dawn Kinnard, 'Dylan's 'Ramona', which is at youtube.com. Well worth a look....
Maybe run into you later on, when Ron returns to promote the new cd? The 3 or 4
new songs that I heard sounded rather like more 'Ron classics' to me....
All the Best,
Chris.

Hi Amanda,
My son's band (he's the manager) Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, are
playing one of these Air Studios specials.
Unfortunately can't get to that - or the Ron gig (of which I was
unaware). So, hoping he'll find some time to come north soon.

i'm really looking forward to the april shows in ottawa, both of them!
very excited to hear Emm's going to be opening. the Dala Girls sound
good too.
hi to you all :)
Amanda
Hi David, Chris, Amanda etc.,
not sure about the UK tour situation, but I know Ron's 2 dates here in Ottawa
(Canada) this April (13 & 14) are fast approaching and I know those of us here
in Ontario can't wait for these new tour dates and a taste of the new album.
According to recent info just posted today in "Folk Bits", Ron's opening act for
the April 13th show is the brilliant Emm Gryner, so that will be an absolutely
incredible double bill. For those who may not know her, just check out her
website (http://emmgryner.com/nest.htm) or Youtube of course, where there is a
great duet with Ron
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUI-WNI_An4&feature=related).
On the second night (April 14), the opening act is another terrific new
duet/band called Dala......check out their great video for "anywhere under the
moon" at http://www.dalagirls.com/index.html. It's looking like a great couple
of night in Ottawa!!! (and its a great time to visit the city if you are
thinking of making a trek to Canada......!).
Cheers

ps. great to see the dust finally blown off this usergroup!!!
ppss. see you there Amanda (& Charles!).

Knowing what a huge Kinks fan Ron is, I wonder how many members here are as
well,
I think Kinks fan will get a kick out of The Kunks, The Kunks are, in a
nutshell, a Rutles
version of The Kinks.
It's avaiable on Amazon, Not Lame and hpunch.com
Here's the bio
The Kunks were formed in the sleepy little UK town of Swell Mum
Hill by brothers
Dae and Nite Ravens and childhood friend Pat Quaint; drummer Nick Avarice joined
in the
middle of their first recording session when their original drummer, Henry
Bobbit, was
kicked out of the British Federation of Musicians for cutting off the president
of
orginization on the M4 en route to the studio. Their career spanned four decades
but they
were constantly overshadowed by the legendary Rutles. While Rutlemania swept the
world,
The Kunks continually put out solid albums and built up a cult following that
started a
tradition of throwing paper cups on stage with song requests written inside
them.
After a string of unsuccessful singles, The Kunks finally broke
through with the
song I've Got Nothing, a song written by Dae after losing his girlfriend to Stig
O'Hara of
The Rutles, hence the lyric," He's in a money making band, And he's the one who
holds
your hand and I've got nothing." The song is often covered to this day: Swedish
rock god
Hans Valen's version of the song is often mistaken for being the original.
They built a reputation as consistent hit-makers. The most popular
ones, Mr.
Trendy, Beautiful Spring Day & The Bad Times Are Coming are all included
on this compilation CD. They were soon respected for their string of, now
considered,
classic albums; Kunkthing Else, The Olde Fasioned Values Committee,
Archie and Swell Mum Hill Follies. In the 70's they gained a bad reputation for
entering the
world of concept albums a little too enthusiastically. Although the albums
Scubas In
Distress, Sleeping Fits and Fit Miss, among others, were dismissed by fans and
critics
alike, you could still find a Dae Ravens gem or 2 hidden inside those ambitious
efforts.
Their later records were amongst the biggest sellers of their
career, but they lost
some of their dedicated cult following. Later albums, No Budget, Give The Pupils
What
They Want and State of Connecticut gave them a new fanbase that only knew them
from
the hits off those albums-Aquaman, The Next Day and At The Picture Show are
represented on this disc. The legendary strained relationship between brothers
Dae and
Nite finally led to the disbanding of The Kunks in the 90's. Diehard fans keep
hoping the
rumors that pop up every couple of years about a reunionon tour will one day
become
true.
I normally don't have the TV on in the morning, but yesterday, by
chance, I flipped by the CBC and saw Ron and Don singing "Lemonade
Stand" on a kids' program. Anyone else catch that? Pretty
entertaining....
Hi Chris,
Whoops! Thanks for pointing out the error on the LP name! I have fixed it on the

Hello all,
I have just found this group and joined.
My husband Steven and I are great fans of Ron. We just recently attended his
concert in Wolfville
Nova Scotia, which was our first chance to see him live. Steven is a
professional event /
performance photographer who records live music events in Nova Scotia. I make
web galleries of the
shots that I post on his site as a form of promotion for the venues and the
performers. We made a
gallery of Ron's Wolfville show (with Jill Barber as support) which is on our
site now. (Short
review of the show on the opening page, then the gallery is linked from
there.) It's a flash
gallery and includes a track from the latest record, so you need high speed
access to hear the
music.
