Thanks so much for the welcome and the kind words, Mitzi. I run a couple of
other lists, including
one where it averages about 300 messages a week !!
Don... do you have the names of the others in the band? It might be nice to put
their names on the
page, too, but I don't have all of the names. It was such a great night!
Many thanks for the welcome.

Subject: [Ron Sexsmith] New member intro - photos of concert
Hello all,
I have just found this group and joined.
My husband Steven and I are great fans of Ron. We just recently attended his
concert in Wolfville
Nova Scotia, which was our first chance to see him live. Steven is a
professional event /
performance photographer who records live music events in Nova Scotia. I make
web galleries of the
shots that I post on his site as a form of promotion for the venues and the
performers. We made a
gallery of Ron's Wolfville show (with Jill Barber as support) which is on our
site now. (Short
review of the show on the opening page, then the gallery is linked from
there.) It's a flash
gallery and includes a track from the latest record, so you need high speed
access to hear the
music.

Thanks for a great night, Ron!
All the best,
Ellie

Fellow Ron Fans,
I thought it would be good to post since we have languished with an
inquiry from cutiebeth741 who was curious about having extra marital
lovers as our last post since July.
I saw Ron perform at Safari Sams in Los Angeles on October 2nd.
Ron was solo and performed a sort of ad-lib set taking requests from
the audience playing for just over an hour. Friends I was with and I
agreed that this was the best live performance from him we'd seen in
sometime. I see him every time he comes here. The real surprise was
Nick Lowe. What a classic artist this guy is! In the rockabilly vein
of Ricky Nelson, Elvis or old style rock and roll. He has a
tremendous voice. I noticed Ron was in the back watching the
performance probably in awe as much as the entire audience was. The
biggest treat was when Ron and Nick did a duet together. I thought
Don and Phil Everly were on stage all of a sudden. It was just
amazingly beautiful and soothing how their voices blended. I know Ron
is a great duet performer as I discovered him singing a duet with
Jules Shear "Its All Over But The Smoke" and that is when I started
listening to him. I was also blown away by Lowe's performance
of "What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding" which he
wrote. What a wonderful sentiment that song conveys with a poignant
message at a time when the world seems so troubled.
Thanks to Ron and Nick for great show both of them!
Regards,
Jeffery Lomas
im new to this, i guess you can say im still curious about having extra marital
lovers. i've only had 1 encounter with a married man and I loved it so much.
its such a strong burning desire now. when I look at men, i'm always wondering
how they look nude, or their cock size. basically, i want to find a man to have
his way with me and really show me the ropes of being a lover to another man on
the side. exchange face and cock pics with me here under imurboo
http://www.blackbookaffair.net
kisses, me
Hi-
Was wondering if I can put in a request for a few songs - understand if
you can't do all, but here's just three in order of preference:
-God Loves Everyone
-Imaginary Friends
-Foolproof
Big thanks and look forward to seeing you there!
Tonight there is a concert on Roger's TV across Canada:
_http://www.rogerstehttp://wwhttp://www.http://www&<WBR>&sid=sid=<&mid=m_
(http://www.rogerstelevision.com/option.asp?lid=81&rid=4&sid=25236&mid=1)
And streaming online also. I am in an area that doesn't have Roger's
and it won't be showing on TV. I really want to see the Feist
performance and will stick around at home just to watch it streaming
online. However, I would love to have a HD recording of this. I am
not sure if this post will make it on the list before the show (since
it is my first post and moderated) but if someone could record it and
post it up on Dime a dozen that would be great.
Concert starts at 7:30 and runs till 10:30. I am only interested in
the Feist performance part (which I imagine will be 3 songs max) but
would also d/l the whole thing if someone decided to u/l that.

Any of you fellow UK Ron fans want to join me in asking Ron's management to
strongly consider approaching ITV's 'South Bank Show' (presenter Melvyn Bragg)
to do a programme on him? The ongoing documentary would perhaps be very useful
here.
I've had this idea for many months, since last year, but have been advised by
the powers-that-be not to do anything on my own, to leave it to the pros. Fair
enough, although I don't see what's wrong in a simple phone-call or even a
letter to the tv people, from the point of view of a Ron fan. Or even mentioning
it in passing, if I happen to come across Lord Bragg in the street...!
Cheers, Chris.

Thanks, Ian, for reminding me what to do, as the 2006 dvd is in 'flac' format,

Is your problem Chris the file format (i..e, are they "flac" or "shn" files,
which need to be converted to "wav" or "mp3" for your to play, or are they
actually "zip" files that need to be "unzipped"?).
If it is the former, then you could download (usually for free, or free

Download.com. This type of software usually allows you to "drag and drop" "flac"
or "shn" files into a menu that converts them to "wav", "mp3", etc., and then
your away to races.
I have the Australia Basement show as well (superb!!), plus a few misc. Ron

around 2005, and then converted to DVD, so the quality is not as good as it
could be).

ps. just caught Ron's Massey Hall (Toronto) and Centrepoint (Ottawa) shows and
either would have made a brilliant DVD. Let's hope for an official DVD show from
Ron one of these years. It sure would be nice if that seemingly never ending
(multi-year) documentary about Ron eventually get's finished too, as I am sure
it will be superb. I know the cameras were rolling for that at last year's
Massey Hall show, so hopefully that footage will come to light for all of us to

by now i'm assuming that most from this list are also on the forum at
ronsexsmith.com; however just in case...here are a few moments from
last night's show.
last night's concert at Nepean Centrepointe was amazing. Ron and band
performed beautifully. this time around i particularly noticed the
blending of voices: Ron's with Tim's during Gold in them Hills, a
song that gets more interesting to me each time I hear it performed
live. The songs from Time Being were wonderful to hear again live
too. Hands of Time was particularly moving to me this time around.
For All in Good Time, I think many of us wanted to burst into song
during the chorus. I know I was singing softly to myself. Ron's
rendition of Snow Angel, this time on piano was excellent.
during his solo set, Ron played Blade of Grass, the song I asked for,
which was so kind of him. he mentioned that it was tricky to play and
he played it beautifully. I really love that song and to me it and
many of the songs from Rarities are some of Ron's finest.
Ron looked gorgeous in his frilly strawberry shirt and burgundy (I
think it was burgundy) jacket, looked velvety from the third row. At
Massey Hall, his resplendent white suit was the perfect attire. Here
the strawberry shirt was ideal. For both concerts he played a few
songs on a new guitar.
a girl in my row screamed and it was really great to hear her and the
admiration everyone here has for Ron and his music. there were some
guys behind me who were obviously fairly new to his music and were
commenting on the fact that they hadn't heard some of the songs
before, and enjoyed them.
Don had a hat he'd purchased here in Ottawa, one of those cool
old-fashioned men's hats, not a fedora I don't think, but something similar.
I should also say that the opening band, Kevin Hearn (from Bare Naked
Ladies) and Thin Buckle, were really great. They had fun, were very
zany and mellow.
Here's a photo my husband took while Ron and Don were performing God
Loves Everyone:
http://www.charlesearl.com/index.php?id=373
and from Massey Hall, a picture from further away:
http://www.charlesearl.com/index.php?id=372
I enjoyed both performances and it was such a treat to get to hear
and see Ron and the guys in the more formal setting of Massey Hall
and the suburban setting of Centrepointe Theatre. I was humming the
songs as I rode home on the bus last night!

Barg? (cant remember or figure out what this one was)
Ship of Fools

If you've ever snuck in to a sound check and felt like you were privy to your
own little private show that's how last nights performance at the Hamilton's
Westdale Theatre was. The show had the clear feel that it was simply the warm up
for the big event at Massey Hall tonight but that was fine with us. In a cabaret
type of setting we just sat back in the comfy chairs and soaked it all up.
Although the set list I think was quite weighted towards Time Being, it overall
seemed to have a different / diverse fee l from other recent Ron shows.
As we only arrived at 9pm we didn't expect to see the 'warm up' act so were
pleasantly surprised to get to see Kevin Hearn, keyboardist from the Barenaked
Ladies, with his own band.
We unfortunately can't make tonight's show, but for those who are going, have
a great time.

Hi Dan, as Carolyn purloined Ron's (quite cryptic) copy of the setlist after the
show, it went something like this:
Secret Heart
Hands of Time
Strawberry Blonde
Thirsty Love
Lemonade Stand
Barg? (cant remember or figure out what this one was)
Ship of Fools
So Young
Jazz at the Bookstore
How on Earth
Fallen
Gold in them Hills
Dusty Things
-------------------
Up the Road
Feel for You
Happiness
Never Give Up
All in Good Time
Foolproof
Hope this helps
Gary

HI Gary
I really enjoyed last night's set as well and am trying to remember the title
of one of the songs he played in his short solo set. Do you recall which tunes
he played?

If you've ever snuck in to a sound check and felt like you were privy to your
own little private show that's how last nights performance at the Hamilton's
Westdale Theatre was. The show had the clear feel that it was simply the warm up
for the big event at Massey Hall tonight but that was fine with us. In a cabaret
type of setting we just sat back in the comfy chairs and soaked it all up.
Although the set list I think was quite weighted towards Time Being, it overall
seemed to have a different / diverse fee l from other recent Ron shows.

Subject: [Ron Sexsmith] Tickets for Massey Hall available
If anyone is still looking for tickets to the Massey Hall show I have a pair
of front row orchestra tickets that I cannot use.
I purchased these back in the fall when they first went onsale and now I
will be away on vacation (New Orleans Jazz Fest) when the show happens.
I'm looking for face value (ticket price plus the service charges).
Please let me know if you are interested. I am in the Guelph-Hamilton area
but can arrange to meet in Toronto or send the tickets using expresspost is
you are not in this area.
Thanks,
Jeff
