Saturday and future services   Message List

I’d like to add my thanks to everyone who took part in the service on Saturday. I know I tend to be over-critical [particularly of my own performance] but all the feedback I received was brilliant, and people can’t wait for the next one, so I’ll leave it there! Particular thanks to Iain for stepping in as Conductor on the day, Fr’s Mark & Simon and also Paul, our only server. We raised £125 for the upkeep of the church, so I think if we are ever asked to sing there again [I hope] we’ll be made very welcome.  J

Services confirmed for later this year are:

The 3rd Founders Day Annual Requiem at Barnard Castle on 22nd July. We only need the Schola for this as it’s the Gregorian Chant Requiem.

The 2nd Pan-Orthodox Divine liturgy, which we think will be in Leeds sometime in October. We could do with a handful of extra singers for this – not sure how many yet as we plan to ‘recruit’ some of the choir from the Serbian Church in Bradford. [They haven’t been told this yet. It’s an objective I’ve set myself for the summer and I plan to enlist  - at least – Costas & Fr David C’s help!]

4th November – Holy Souls Church, Scunthorpe. The final major choral service as part of our 10th Anniversary Year. We’re still planning to sing Duārte Lobo’s Requiem ą 8 so we need a healthy BALANCED group for this. If you want to sing, please keep the date free in your diaries and let us know BY THE END OF JULY so we don’t end up overloading one particular part. The reason for asking now is it gives us time to plug any gaps that need filling. Even if you know you can’t sing yourself, please let us know if you know anyone else who is free that day.

Finally, we return to St Mary’s, Bishophill, York for our 6th Carol Service in December. [date to be confirmed]

If there are any additional services we get asked to do at short notice – like Brinkburn last year – we’ll let you know!

For the non-singers on this list, please spread the word, and again, if you know of singers who would like to join us, either for any of the above services or at some stage in the future, please let us know!

Mike
