I'm taking the opportunity of plugging a non-Rudgate event here. The Ebor Singers are one of the finest choirs in the Region and are singing the Victoria Requiem for 6 voices this coming Thursday, see details below, lifted from their web-site!
Those of us who have sung this Requiem on the two occasions we have performed it liturgically, will know how good it is. If you're in the York area, or can get to York this Thursday evening, come and hear one of the best pieces of polyphony sung by a superb choir in a marvellous venue.

The Requiem was written on the death of the Spanish Empress Maria in 1603. Not only is it seen as Victoria’s finest work, but it is also acknowledged as one of the last masterpieces of the Renaissance. In this programme the Requiem is set alongside motets by Victoria and other Spanish composers. Join us for a rare opportunity to hear this music in the context of the beautiful medieval church of All Saints, North Street.
