For the first time, the legendary rock band AUKTYON is coming to Los
Angeles! Here is the official press release:

July 30, 2001

For the fifth year in a row, Auktyon will tour in the United States. The
legendary band from St.Petersburg, Russia will kick off 11-concert
8-city tour with a show in New York on September 11, 2001.  Concerts
will also take place in Washington D.C., Helena, Missoula, Bozeman, Los
Angeles, San Francisco, and Boston.

The tour will feature recently composed songs, which will be performed
in the US for the first time, along with the old classics.  Currently,
producers are considering a possibility of Alexei Hvostenko (XBOCT), the
collaborator on such albums as ⌠Mountaintop Dweller■ and ⌠Teapot of
Wine■, to join Auktyon in Boston and New York concerts.

After a spectacular performance last year at the NXNW Festival in
Portland, Oregon, Auktyon has received excellent reviews in the local
press, as well as tour and recording proposals.  The 4 concerts in
Montana will be the first time Auktyon has worked with an American
producer.

This tour will differ from the last one mainly because of the newly
composed songs.  This summer, entire band held multiple sessions on
different stages, as they worked on the new material.  The rehearsals
are taking place even now, as the musicians get ready for the three-week
tour in the US.

2001 год, сентябрь. США. Гастроли Аукцыона.  Легендарная группа из
Питера откроет турне концертом в Нью Йорке 11-го сентября .  Ещё 10
концертов пройдут в Вашингтоне, Монтане, Лос Анджелесе, Сан Франциско и
Бостоне.

На концертах, на ряду со старыми хитами, будет представлен новый
материал, ранее в США не исполнявшийся.  Сейчас продюсеры ведут
переговоры с Алексем Хвостенко (ХВОСТ), участвовавшим в записи альбомов
⌠Жилец Вершин■ и ⌠Чайник Вина■, о возможности выступления с Аукцыоном в
Бостоне и Нью Йорке.

После феерического выступления на фестивале NXNW-2000 и прекрасных
отзывов в прессе, Аукцыон получил предложение от американской компании
на гастроли по стране.  Стоит отметить, что 4 концерта в Монтане √ это
первый опыт контракта группы с американскими продюсерами.

Cамым главным отличием от прошлых гастролей в США, без сомнения, будут
новые песни. В течении всего лета, группа репетирует новый концертный
материал.

Currently, we're working on logistics of the Auktyon's U.S. Tour,
particularly of its L.A. leg. And guess what, we need your help. We
are trying to cut costs and optimize their accomdations and
transportation. We need to provide both for 10 people.
The band comes to L.A. on Friday, Septemer 21. The same night they
give their only show. The next day, September 22, later afternoon,
they are going to drive to San Francisco, where they are going to have
a concert on Sunday, Sept. 23.

If anybody in greater L.A. wants to accomodate some band members
and/or drive them around L.A. and/or to San Francisco, let me know...
Aside from having fun hanging out with those great guys, you won't
need a ticket to the L.A. concert - it's on us.

L.A. AUKTYON concert is CANCELED!

Due to the tragic events on the East Coast, and subsequent air traffic
disruptions, AUKTYON had to CANCEL its only concert in Los Angeles,
which was supposed to take place on September 21, 2001. AUKTYON sends
their condolences to anyone affected by the tragedy and wants to express
their support and solidarity by coming to the U.S. and performing.
However, the band spent two and a half days at Amsterdam airport, where
their trip to New York was interrupted on September 11.  They are
currently back in St. Petersburg, and will attempt to come back and
perform remaining shows on the East Coast. To all AUKTYON fans in Los
Angeles and other West Coast cities, the band wants to thank you for all
your support and will come with a new Tour as soon as such an
opportunity emerges.

If you purchased tickets online, you will be automatically refunded. If
you bought tickets offline (at stores), you will be able to return the
tickets for a complete refund at the store they were purchased.  Sorry
for any inconvenience it may cause.

That was a blast! The legendary Russian rock band Aquarium rocked
at the Dragonfly club in Hollywood on June 16, 2002. The
concert was a great success and has exceeded all expectations. The
band has named the L.A. concert its best show of the Summer'02 U.S.
Tour √ no kidding! It was even more special for Aquarium to perform in
Los Angeles for the first time. Personally, I remember
a) BG's crawling on the stage
b) Wiped-out people hugging and dancing with a column at the club
c) The club's security guard (a big black guy with a flashlight who
*tried* keeping the crowd at bay) shouting to me "Man, that was a killer"
after the Mamonov's "Shuba Duba Blues" cover. A killer that was.

You can read a review about the concert and an exclusive interview
with Boris Grebenshikov in July issue of the Afisha magazine. In addition
to that, the most eloquent fans of the band have already posted their

Много сказать не могу, да и незачем много говорить, по-моему, о концертах Аквариума.   Надо там быть.  Описать это совершенно невозможно, так как на концерте Аквариума ты по-настоящему погружаешься в какую-то волшебную реку с живительной водой для души, которой нам так большинство времени не хватает в каждодневной жизни.

Концерт в Лос Анжелесе 8 декабря для меня был первым выступлением, на котором я их увидел живьём.  Он состоялся в небольшом, но популярном у американцев голливудском клубе Dragon Fly, билеты стояли столько же, сколько на Бека за три недели до этого, и все билеты на выступление проданы без проблем, несмотря на то, что Аквариум играли в этом же клубе для этой же публики полгода назад.  Вообще-то люди, которые были и на прошлом выступлении группы, сказали мне в тот раз было "очень классно", а в этот раз ещё лучше.  У меня и моих друзей осталось грандиозное впечатление от концерта, музыканов, песен и того как держит себя БГ.  Никакого эгоизма и самовозвышения со стороны музыкантов (как и в прошлый раз, вышли сыграть на бис и отыграли не одну-две песни, а целое законченное отделение). Сам будучи музыкантом, я не только был приятно удивлён, а буквально счастлив за то, насколько высоким стал музыкальный уровень Аквариума, включая и БГ, который владеет и гитарой, и голосом не хуже, а ЛУЧШЕ большинства американских и английских звёзд, на концертах которых мне привелось здесь (в США) побывать за последние несколько лет.

Было очень приятно видеть, что наши российские музыканты не просто занимаются самовыражением в форме музыки, а совершенно обдуманно и ответственно подходят к вопросу качества того, что они делают, а также к поддержанию высокого уровня искусства России.  Кроме того, музыканты Аквариума играют блюз, регги и гавайскую музыку лучше, чем многие музыканты из тех мест, где эти стили считаются коренными.   Аквариум не просто, например, играют блюз так, как его следует играть, а они пошли дальше: после того, как научились его играть, они теперь РАЗВИВАЮТ блюз так, как они считают он должен быть сыгран.  В общем, всё очень слаженно и весело. 
Атмосфера была очень хорошая и мирная.  Борис выглядит теперь, как настоящий русский богатырь :)  А на анкоре, то есть во "втором", "незапланированном" отделении с Аквариумом сыграл несколько песен (всё отделение) Александр Ляпин.  Это был тот сюрприз, о котором некоторые зрители каким-то образом уже прослышали, но никто не знал, что будет за сюрприз. 
Когда Александр вышел, многие зрители спрашивали друг и друга: "А кто это? Русский? Американец?"   Александр не играл, а творил что-то совершенно необычное; с первых же немногих нот стало ясно, что это не просто музыкант, играющий на гитаре, а человек, живущий гитарой, музыкой, понимающий и тонко чувствующий то, что вокруг него происходит (и музыкально, и поэтически), и умеющий в полном совершенстве владеть своим инструментом. То, что Александр с видимым удовольствием выделывал на сцене, вызвало авации после каждой песни, а во время его игры некоторые стояли с раскрытыми ртами.  Здесь давно уже такого не слышали.

Может быть, описания этого концерта никто и не прислал, потому что трудно вообще что-либо было сказать после выступления о самом выступлении. Мои друзья и знакомые, включая профессиональных классических музыкантов из Los Angeles Philharmony (главный симфонический оркестр Лос Анжелеса), на вопрос друг друга "ну как, понравилось?" отвечали коротко: "да, это просто офигеть", и затем или спокойно расходились, или стояли и разговаривали о чём-то ещё.  У всех было приятное состояние лёгкого шока, просветления, при котором не хочется говорить, а хочется просто в нём спокойно побыть, пока оно есть.

Thinking back of AUKTYON concert (09-13-03 @ Dragtonfly).

1. It was.... schizophrenic orgasm. 'Nuff said. I've always said that,
while some other legendary groups may get your heart and mind, AUKTYON
goes directly to your nuts (sorry ladies). It's pure physiology, not
psychology.
The band totally enjoyed the LA concert, they think the local crowd is
as insane as they are.
