I'm heading out of town for a week, returning late on the 23rd, so won't be
around to monitor developments vis-a-vis the jam on Wednesday, June 24. Not sure
what my e-mail access will be while I'm gone, so I'm hoping Danny White will
monitor things here and pass along any new developments to the group and to the
Armando's publicity maven, Eloise Cotton.
In the meantime, here's how it looks now:
Headliners, alphabetically and not necessarily in order of appearance:
Mark Fenichel with friends Jon Lawton, guitarist-singer-songwriter (Little Jonny
& The Giants, Tip Of The Top), and special guest Doug Burns ...
Larry Marks, the Mount Shasta harmonica harp master, probably with friend and
guitarist Greg Williams.
Danny White himself with the Hot House Band. Danny got shorted on playing time
the last few times out and it's time this stalwart of the Very Bad Boys and
co-sponsor of our gathering gets his own set in the spotlight.
Winslow Yerxa with special guests violinist Tuula Cotter, who is both an
experienced folk fiddler and a member of the first violin section of the
Sacramento Symphony, and guitarist Colin Cotter (Tuula's son), who plays guitar
and fiddle in the band A Thousand Years at Sea.
If past sessions are any example (last time out we had a surprise appearance by
Oakland blues legend Birdlegg), we'll have some pleasant surprises, too.
We'll be offering the usual jam signups starting at 6:30 p.m., a chance to shine
with the Hot House Band, or with your own accompanists. The music will start at
7 with a short set by my own band Awed Ducks.
Danny will provide the usual back-line array of boutique harp and guitar amps
from his Good Stuff Guitar Shop to augment the great house sound system.
Armando's is at 707 Marina Vista, Martinez, CA. Each of the gatherings has been
better than the last and it looks like this one will be no different. Help make
it happen by being there!
