We break from the norm by dedicating an episode of TWERPcast to All Hallow's
Eve. We discuss the origins of the holiday and how it evolved into what is
celebrated today. We also reminisce over Halloween's Past and discuss how the
holiday has impacted television and film. So collect your treat and don't pull
any tricks at www.twerponline.net/twerpcast

TimeWell Electronic Recording Productions has always been dedicated to bringing
fan-produced material to the fans. And while we may be running behind on
production of our audio presentations, we are always open to new avenues of
entertainment production. To that end, we are pleased to announce the debut of
a new section of Star Trek: Eras... fan fiction! This area is dedicated to
printing fan-produced short stories set within the Star Trek Universe.
Our first entry is by Richard Martin, entitled "Welcome to Romulus," a story set
in the 26nd century. A Romulan student is confronted with a choice between duty
to state and duty to family.

TWERPcast is back this week with a discussion on the history of Hasbro's GI Joe,
covering everything from the action figures through a review of the new movie,
GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Find out what Jim, Doug and Ken thought of
Hollywood's newest toy adaptation. Yo Joe! Tune in to JoeCast at

Hello,
I wanted to take a moment to extend apologies on behalf of the TWERP production
staff for the extended delays you have noticed. At least, we hope you've
noticed, because that means you care. :)
As you all know, sometimes real life can jump up like a pit bull and bite you
right in the butt. We've been experiencing a lot of real life lately and its
put us significantly behind on everything. But I wanted to reassure our
listeners (both of you) that we haven't thrown in the towel, given up the ghost,
or any of the other colloquialisms that would represent us giving up.
Doug and I (and possibly Kenn) are planning on doing a TWERPcast in early August
for the release of the new G.I. Joe movie. Matt and I are laboring through our
4th installment of Star Trek: Eras, hopefully to be released by the end of the
year (fingers crossed). Episode 5 has been recorded and is ready for the
editing room as well. Our new editor for Geist has begun work on Episode 2 of
that series, and we just received Mr. Taylor's script for episode 2 of IMWWAN 4
a couple of weeks ago. It is my hope to start recording on it before the end of
August.
So, yes Virginia, there is still a TWERP. We thank you for your patience and
ask you to extend it a little longer as we finish putting out the flames and get
back to the things that matter most... writing, recoding, sound editing and
composing. :)
As we begin our third year of TWERPcast goodness, the guys focus on the career
of yet another writer/producer/director extraordinaire, Star Trek's leader J.J.
Abrams. But don't think that this is just TrekCast 2009, Part 2. More like 1.5
or 1 1/4. Join us for our newest episode, AbramsCast at

You rat! You gave me a bleedin' heart attack!
The Sarah Connor Chronicles has only just started airing in Australia and
they've cancelled it? That'll put a dampner on the release!
Kirok of L'Stok
Not really. We just thought we'd give you a good scare. Instead, Jim and Doug
have sat down to discuss the Terminator franchise, including the newest edition
to the series in the form of Terminator Salvation. They also lament (Jim) and
relish (Doug) the cancellation of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. So
tune in before Judgment Day comes and enjoy TWERPcast episode 27, TermiCast at

What are the chances that the guys at TWERP would take the opportunity to review
the new Star Trek film? If you know us at all, you'd say 100%! We talk about
our likes and dislikes, fears and expectations, why we embrace the unknown and
where only fools fear to tread. Oh, and we talk a little about the new movie as
well. Be forewarned.... this thing is filled to bursting with tons of spoilery
goodness! Join us at www.twerponline.net/twerpcast for TWERPcast Episode 26,
TrekCast 2009.
Its been a while since we took a look at a book series, so this episode is
dedicated to Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle series and its newest
release, Brisingr. Join us at www.twerponline.net/twerpcast for our 25th
episode, EragonCast.
A lot of good camp. I'm proud to be a part of it. One drawback was the program
is a bit too long for 1 CD so I could not get all of it.

Did you catch the series finale of Battlestar Galactica? We did! Jim and Doug
discuss the history of the cult television series while reviewing the conclusion
of this part of the story. While we're at it, we cover everything from the
advantages of serial storytelling to religion in science fiction. And would it
really be a TWERPcast without a few cheap shots at a certain canceled TV show
that was on SciFi Channel last year. And, oh yeah, we pose some advanced
theories on how the new show Caprica is going to fair while we're at it. Can

Last week, Doug and I did our annual TWERPcast dedicated to the
Academy Awards with OscarCast 2009 at www.twerponline.net/twerpcast
As per tradition, we made our Oscar picks and we managed a tie with
5 out of 7 correct (we both missed on Best Supporting Actress and
split the difference on the two categories we disagreed in -- I got
Sean Penn right, but Doug was on the money with it being Kate
Winslet's turn to win). Now that the show is over, though, I feel
the need to comment on the the best and worst moments the production
had to offer.
Best Moments:
The Opening Number - The Oscars returned to Billy Crystal glory as
Hugh Jackman opened the show with a musical tribute to the Best
Picture nominees, as well as the one that SHOULD have. Especially
funny was the tribute to "The Reader" in which he talks about having
wanted to see it, but just couldn't find the time. Jackman managed
to bring a comedic spice to the presentation and all that was
missing was saying goodbye using a toothbrush as a microphone.
Heath Ledger winning Best Supporting Actor - This was a foregone
conclusion for everyone, but the crowd in the Kodak Theatre were
still taken to tears as Ledger's father, mother and sister accepted
his Oscar. Everyone with a half-a-heart was moved by a father's
pride, a mother's sorrow and a sister's spirit.
Worst Moments:
Could We Have One More Dress Rehearsal? - The evening with filled
with minor mistakes that became seriously noticeable the longer they
lasted. It started with a curtain that didn't open on cue and a
voice cutting into the broadcast yelling to get it open. The
evening seemed filled with production errors that seemed amateurish
and more fitting for a high school play than the premiere awards
ceremony.
Disrespectful "In Memoriam" - One of the traditions of the Academy
Awards Ceremony is the honoring of those who have passed away during
the proceeding year. This year, though, the directors decided to
appease the ADD-inflicted masses by having Queen Latifah sing "I'll
Be Seeing You" while the presentation flashed on several screens
behind her. The problem? The director's decided that it was far
better to feature Latifah singing and giving the audience motion
sickness with unnecessary panning rather than show the artists
honored. As such, several honorees were unrecognizable and
unreadable, completely dishonoring the people they were supposed to
be honoring.
Cutting Out The Wrong Sequences - In the Academy's constant attempt
to cut broadcast time, they decided that they didn't need to show
clips from the nominated actor's performances and give Best Original
Song nominees individual performances, instead favoring longwinded
praise-fests and a "musical melody" combining all three songs into
one ill-fated performance. Instead, they chose to keep such entrees
as "Romance in 2008," "Action in 2008" (etc.) and a tribute to the
return of musicals (because "MaMa Mia" was SUCH a success). You
want to cut things? How about removing the fluff and leave in the
things that feature the nominees. Or better yet, just accept the
fact that the show is 4+ hours and plan accordingly. After all, the
NFL doesn't worry if the Super Bowl goes into overtime.
Let's Use Some Common Sense In Planning The Order Of Awards - For
the first time in years, the Academy put the awards in some
semblance of order by taking the process of making a movie from the
beginning stages of preproduction through applying music to the film
(often the last stage in postproduction) and giving out the awards
according to this process. It seemed to work well until the very
end, where they decided to give out the awards for Best Director,
Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Picture .... in that order. In
years past, Best Director is always the second-to-last award because
most of the time it is the same film as the Best Picture winner.
This year was no different and viewers learned that "Slumdog
Millionaire" won Best Picture a full half hour before it was
announced. This was very poor follow-through for an otherwise
beautiful concept.
It's Oscar time again, and the guys have put together their
second-annual Academy Awards special, focusing on the best picture,
director, actor, actress, supporting actor, supporting actress and
animated film categories. They also talk about the biggest robbery in
Hollywood and the best and worst films of the year. Join us for

there's action to be had, Derrick Geist is there to help.

The boys of TWERPcast have joined forces once again to review the
career of a comic book legend and his half-baked attempt at directing.
But wait, didn't The Spirit come out in December? Yeah, but we had
better things to work on, like separating fly poo from pepper with
boxing gloves on and teaching mice the difference between cheddar and
American cheese without using the sense of smell. If you think that's
harsh, buckle up because they unload with both barrels on Frank Miller

In other news, TWERPs is looking for additional voice talent for
upcoming episodes for both Star Trek: Eras and Derrick Geist. Are you
able to speak with a Spanish accent? Then we're interested in hearing
from you. Visit our casting call page at

deadline is January 31, 2009.
Stay tuned for more release information soon.
Majel Barrett Roddenberry, the widow of Star Trek creator Gene
Roddenberry and the only actor to have a role in all incarnations of
the franchise, has died, the Associated Press reported. She was 76.
Roddenberry died Dec. 18 of leukemia at her home in Bel-Air, Calif.,
her representative told the AP.
At Roddenberry's side were family friends and her only son, Eugene
"Rod" Roddenberry Jr. Gene Roddenberry died in 1991.
Her romance with Roddenberry earned her the title "The First Lady of
Star Trek." A fixture in the Trek franchise, her roles included Nurse
Christine Chapel in the original series, Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek:
The Next Generation and the voice of the USS Enterprise computer in
almost every spinoff of the 1966 cult series. She recently reprised
the voice role in the upcoming Star Trek reboot film directed by J.J.
Abrams.
----------------------------------------------------
TimeWell Electronic Recording Productions would like to extend our
condolences to the Roddenberry family in their time of mourning.
I would also like to point out, because Jim is too modest and retiring
(and now owes me five-bucks) that without his willing cooperation, The
Twelve Trek Days of Christmas could very well have been without a home
for 2008. He has not only graciously offered to host our website in
perpetuity (oh, didn't I mention that bit?) but is giving up a
considerable amount of his free time to set up and administer the site.
The House of L'Stok acknowledges it's debt to you sir!

Greetings and Salutations from TWERPs,
Every once and a while, I try to work out what progress we've made
and where we will be going from here. On October 22, we were able
to release the third act of our third episode, "Yours, Mines and
Ours" after an extremely long delay. Those of us on the production
end of things apologize for the long wait and appreciate your
patience in sticking with us. While the delays were caused by
several back-to-back difficulties in our real-world lives, we are
hoping and praying to be past it and ready to charge ahead.
When we first started TWERP, we had an unrealistic vision of
producing new episodes every other month (at the very least). This
vision was caused by a mixture of not being fully aware of what the
project entailed and using groups that had a far larger personnel
base as an example. We were inexperienced, though dedicated to
producing quality entertainment.
Now, two years later, we have been re-examining our "business model"
and have realized that some of our expectations were extremely
high. We realized that we had a choice to make: produce average
programming quickly or produce high-quality programming over a
longer period of time. We have chosen that maintaining the quality
he have established so far is more important that getting an episode
out every other month, as has been shown by our frequency in the
past. After all, we believe that quality is better than quantity.
In other words, you shouldn't see much of a change in our
productions, but the expectations we put on ourselves will be more
realistic.
Our current hope is to complete the fourth episode of Star Trek:
Eras – "Tough Decisions" – and the first episode of our new series,
Derrick Geist, by the end of the year. Shortly thereafter, we will
finally complete the first episode of IMWAN4 – "What's Happening?"
In spite of what has been stated above, we're pushing on these shows
due to commitments we made and feel obligated to keep as soon as
possible. Our new model will then kick into effect for 2009,
putting out 2–4 episodes per year on each of our shows, making sure
we give our listeners the best possible quality available.
As always, we are open to expanding our cadre of staff and have tons
of ideas we would love to work on. We are only limited by what a
handful of people can accomplish in their spare time. Therefore, if
you are interested in contributing to TWERPs, be it as a voice
actor, sound editor or writer, we encourage you to visit our Casting
Call department at http://www.twerponline.net/help and drop us a
line.
If you have any questions or feedback, it is always welcome. Feel
free to drop me a private e-mail at jim@...
Thanks,
Jim Caswell

After an incredibly long delay due to personal issues, we are
extremely happy to announce that Act 3 of Star Trek: Eras' third
episode, "Yours, Mines and Ours" is online and available for listening.
The conclusion of this episode picks up with the crew of USS Aurora
investigating the mysterious minefield across the Romulan Neutral Zone.
Because of the delay, we would highly recommend that our listeners
reacquaint themselves with the show by listening to the first two
acts, hearing to the episode in its entirety.
Again, thanks for hanging in there with us and we hope you enjoy the
show.

us. Sorry for any inconvenience.

episode. We were trying a new recording devise and found it wasn't as
good after the fact. We'll be back up to our normal level of sub-par
broadcasting next episode. ;-) Sorry for any inconvenience.)
