well slap me silly for waiting so long to get this platter! Round up
your honey, light the fireplace, open a bottle of your finest and
cuddle-up to this warm puppy. intimate, warm, sensual soul awaits.
even when he gets funky, Mr. Hunter is a laid-back mella-fella. think
darrell nulisch when he gets in a soulfull mood.
if sam cooke could have fronted james brown's fabulous flames (circa
1965, it would've sounded like this cd- not the other way around. the
double sax attack is so warm it's cool, the guitar is tasty, rhythm
section tight and guest musicians pitch in yet manage to stay out of
the way. the recording is as expansive as it is intimate,. very well
done.
i read the revue in the blues rags and the post-dispatch months ago,
and did nothing. shame, shame, shame!!
please don't tell me he was in town this year.
tomorrow night(fri) marks the annual holiday date for brave combo.
last years hoot was a jewish-gypsy hora chant on "people are strange"
by the doors. too fun!
for a more traditional holiday slant, try genuine houserockin'
christmas from alligator records.
