Re: Nosing Around

Jim & I have figured out we live within an easy drive of each other.

We're doing a bit better for double reeds in my County - each
Elementary School in the city (I think there are seven) seem to each
have 3-4 doubles reeds). My son looks like his school's only
Bassoonist for this year.

So far no Sarrusophone discoveries yet - though I have unearth a Bass
Sax which the owner has promised to me - they're just deciding
timing. I don't want to get too excited until it happens.

He thinks there is a file cabinet of Sax Quintets and Swing/Big Band
stuff as well, which he told me I would get!

But still no interesting double reeds.... I'll keep digging as old
newpaper photos of several local groups seem to show either
Sarrusophone, Rothphone or Reed Bass in the background - not enough
detail from the old half-tones on microfiche to tell exactly what!

Anyone else onto anoything at the moment?

regards,

Steve
