The next San Jose Wind Symphony concert (Saturday, February 16, 2002;
http://www.sjws.org/index2.htm) will include a contrabass
sarrusophone :-) We're playing a variety of pieces ("A Musical World
Tour" - see the website for the full program). The piece "Yiddish
Dances" has no contrabass clarinet part, but does call for
contrabassoon: this is where I'm filling in on sarrusophone. Ran it
in rehearsal on Tuesday, and the conductor thought it sounded fine.
Even the bassoonists liked it ;-) No real solos, but a few fairly
exposed parts, and it isn't hard to be heard on a sarrusophone... ;-)
