[Sarrusophone] Sarrusophone sound font?

Dear members,

I am wondering if the sarrusophone sound would be available as a sound font
(i.e. a digital sound sample set for Sound Blaster / EMU synthesizers or
for any other synthesizer).

If not, I could possibly spend some time in generating one (and put it to
public domain). For that, I would need sounds recorded in CD quality of
each of the pitches available for an instrument - mostly I'm interested in
the cb. sarrusophone (in Eb or whatever, as available, rather with the
narrow bore and double reed). So assistance of someone possessing this
instrument, being capable of playing it, and having the possibility to
record it in studio quality would be required.

For each pitch, I would need a sample of some 3-4 seconds of the sound
including the attacks and decays, some pause between each pitch, with no
vibrato, recorded with a good (mono) microphone. The instrument should be
tuned as to 440 Hz A. The recordings should be made in a silent and
non-echoing room with a DAT recorder or similar, or at least with a MD
recorder (although an MD may somewhat degrade the sound quality) to get the
best possible result. The result should be transferred to a computer and
modified to a standard uncompressed MONO .WAV file (16 bits, 44.1 KHz).
Depending on the size of the file, I could possibly download it via the
internet (the file size can be some 10 to 40 MB, i.e. 2-8 minutes of
monophonic sound, but if it is much more than 10 MB, it would be a better
solution to burn it to a CDR and snail mail it to me).

If anyone is interested, and this has not already been made by someone,
please comment. A sound font would allow the playback of the sarrusophone
sound in any computer system having a sound font compatible sound card, and
it should also be possible to modify the sound font to use it with other
synthesizers as well.

Sincerely,

Jopi Harri
