Hello everyone! I just joined this group in a (probably vain) quest
to find an instrument. I'm a bassoonist in a community band that
plays outdoor concerts during the summer. Since a bassoon is
virtually inaudible in that setting, I'm hoping to find a baritone
sarrusophone or rothphone somewhere. Any help you could provide
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In viewing the picture in this advertisement, I may have found the answer to my problem of finding a workable playing position for my EEb Conn. The picture...

I use a bari sax strap, using only the lower ring, and hold the horn somewhat to the right (like a sax). I find it most comfortable to play standing up. Grant...

Grant, I tried that but it's really top heavy. I'll do some ecperimenting when I get it in decent playing condition. Jack...

I too have this same problem. The Conn is extremely awkward to hold. The best solution I have yet found is to use one of those little stands that some...

Bret, Unlike a sax crook, which is either at about ninety degrees or less to the instrument, my Conn bocal angles down, which lead me to originally believe...

My bocal actually doesn't have that much of a downward slope in it, only a few degrees or so. My serial number is #147, which would appear to be a military...

Bret, My serial number is 105, preceded with a "V". and there is no indication of a Quartermaster's stamp on either the instrument or the case. The instrument...

It wouldn't be a surprise if there were (even standard) different bocal angles. Perhaps a concert and a marching variation. Would be neat if we could find if...

I've used a leak light on a sax, but a contra sarrusophone presents some unique problems due to the multiple bends. I have been considering using a "rope...
