Re: [SeaHunt] list birthday

Got a computer w/internet access in '97... Coming across the list and
reading posts from all you fine people over the years has been
wonderful... Hmmm... So lately I've been playing my iPod on
shuffle... 14,000 songs... Every so often some Softies, Heavenly or
Beat Happening (or any related band/side project of the 3) gem will
pop up and make me smile. It's a cross between finding an old
photograph and getting a random phonecall or email from an old
friend... Especially enjoyable when it's some MP3 I burned from a
vinyl 45 ("Not a Care In the World") or nicked from napster (the solo
Amelia single) years ago...
Caught Rose live when she swung thru NYC in April. Her voice was in
fine form and the new songs were lovely... The high point for me,
predictably, was when she dusted off the title track from 'It's Love'
and I got a bit misty-eyed... Didn't recognize Sarah from My Favorite
when she joined in for harmonies...
The new album is a nice addition to Rose's catalogue, though I'll
need to revisit it a bit more to really let it sink in.
Very glad the list is still going. You all rock, in that
special "twee as fuck" sorta way ;-)

hmm i finished high school in 95 and you could definitely access the
internet with netscape with text AND images and that was in australia
where things are normally about 3 years behind, but perhaps it was
educational institutions only at that stage or something. good
memory on the list birthday though the old yoyo list was started
around now in 1996, my god that makes me feel old. it is nice to
know that we're all still on the list even if nobody writes
anything :)

a couple of weeks ago i picked up a copy of the BH/vaselines cassette
which i was pretty excited about (for 50 cents no less!!), pity i
don't have a tape player to actually play it though :( i think my
favourite bit was on the inside cover where it says recorded in
london, england by streator johnson!! way to go streator!!
providing us with live beat happening and vaselines!!

Eeep. According to my library school text web browsers didn't become
available to the public til 1996, so the Beat Happening fans are
right on top of things.
I'll be in Philly seeing Rose play with Andrea of My Favorite on
Friday. Any East Coasters going? Or to the 2006 Indiepop Dance Party?
I haven't seen Calvin around. I know Sarah Utter was showing some new
paintings at Arts Walk tonight and I assume it was at the K temple
although I didn't make it over there.
Library school is awesome.
XOXO

Can you believe the list (starting with the one Scot ran) is almost
ten years old?

it's definitely nice to have people talking. i haven't been on the
computer since February so it was nice to come back and see that
y'all are talking again. maybe we can all convince scot to come back
to the states for a list ten year anniversary party. and maybe you,
my dear mittens, could be troubled to make the trip to olympia as
well. i've missed all of you. hi streator, courtney, michael(i've
been seeing your name a lot lately), mittens. i think it's rad that
after ten years, we still have mostly the same core. i came in after
about two years though so i'm not a complete og. i'm starting to blab
so i'll stop since i don't really have anything interesting to say.
what are opinions about rose's new record? take care.

Wow, I must admit I haven't checked in on this list in years, literally. And it's so nice to see so many of the old names still here! One of the best things...
