Wow, I must admit I haven't checked in on this list in years,
literally. And it's so nice to see so many of the old names still
here! One of the best things about music is that unites people and
makes communities. This list is such a beautiful example of that.
Happy birthday, SeaHunt!

Hey, the other night I got a wild hair to try to find mp3s of that

You probably mean the "Indie-List Digest," which Eric Sinclair and
Anne Zender ran. Pretty much the first listserv I ever heard of
dedicated to this kind of music. The archives used to be at
www.bloofga.org, but seem to be gone - try web.archive.org and type in
the URL there.

Got a computer w/internet access in '97... Coming across the list and
reading posts from all you fine people over the years has been
wonderful... Hmmm... So lately I've been playing my iPod on
shuffle... 14,000 songs... Every so often some Softies, Heavenly or
Beat Happening (or any related band/side project of the 3) gem will
pop up and make me smile. It's a cross between finding an old
photograph and getting a random phonecall or email from an old
friend... Especially enjoyable when it's some MP3 I burned from a
vinyl 45 ("Not a Care In the World") or nicked from napster (the solo
Amelia single) years ago...
Caught Rose live when she swung thru NYC in April. Her voice was in
fine form and the new songs were lovely... The high point for me,
predictably, was when she dusted off the title track from 'It's Love'
and I got a bit misty-eyed... Didn't recognize Sarah from My Favorite
when she joined in for harmonies...
The new album is a nice addition to Rose's catalogue, though I'll
need to revisit it a bit more to really let it sink in.
Very glad the list is still going. You all rock, in that
special "twee as fuck" sorta way ;-)

well if it takes boats to get us talking that's fine although i don't know about them taking over the list dead though it may be. so things to talk about huh? how about calvin making it to australia twice in one year! although i'm not too sure when he was here last but i don't think it was more than 12 months ago and he'll be back again in november. i really should look at youtube more i haven't seen any of the beat happening stuff on there. this is probably an obvious question but can you save stuff from there to your hard drive? it would be nice to put on some beat happening footage on mix dvds. hope the few people still on here are well!!!
Hope all is well. I'm still in the group, although has there been NOTHING happening worth discussing recently? How about K moving out of the old Dub Narcotic Studio and officially fully into to K Temple? Sad but true.

I like fishing, and I have ridden on a boat with an outrigger off the coast of
Abidjan, Ivory Coast--but I can't answer your question.
Anybody still on this list that has been watching the great Calvin and BH
footage on YouTube?

Loved the article. Printed it and read it in its entirity on the train ride
home last night. Bittersweet reading, as it made me both thrilled to read about
so many bands I used to listen to daily, and also nostalgic for the nineties
indie music scene.
Funny that the BH recommendations included neither Dreamy nor '83-'85.
At work, must return to the office chaos.

that was too long for me to read but it looked surprising informative for
newcomers to twee.

Hey,
a bit quiet here the last few days...
Nevertheless, I was able to see Calvin Johnson live in Cologne
yesterday. It was a cool and very impressing solo show! He played some
songs and told some stories for approx. one hour.
Although he had a distance of 0,5 - 2 metres to the microphone most of
the time his voice was always clearly. The audience (approx. 50
people) shouted for a encore after the set, but sadly Calvin did not
come on stage once more.
I made some pictures and uploaded two of them into the file section of
this group. Please enjoy.
Were any other people of this list able to see Calvin (or will see
him) during his Europe tour?
Best wishes,
Marco
