Sun. Nov. 5 Roots and Rest, chanting Nov. 12, 17, 18, voiceshops N   Message List

Hi Folks-
How I love seeing how are roots are intertwined, our connections
though each has its own path. I hope you're feeling well and
nourished at this time.
Following, please find some chanting dates for us- more info at
ginasala.com -calendar page.
Also following are some chances to open more deeply into voice and
embodiment and heart through some "playshops" (we learn best, just
like animals, when we approach with ease of "play and exploration" -
tension free). And a video and poem at the end which really touch my
heart, something to cozy up with on a wet day. I hope you don't mind
a bit longer email today.

I've been spending time with my beautiful teachers, the trees, in
several forests – masters of grounding and rooting. How I love to
lean into them, breathe with them. My great quiet, generous gurus.
They make it easy to be still, rest in delicious silence, even in
the symphony of rain. Here now it feels a time to move inward, and to
connect with the moist earth energy which balances and stabilizes
below the wind and rain. A time to release what it is time to release
like beautiful leaves, and to harvest and appreciate together in song
as so many cultures do at this time.

Tomorrow I've modified the voice workshop in keeping with this
season- It will be a bit shorter, like our days, and the focus will
be on sinking into the voice, rooting through the bones and body,
finding the wisdom and pleasure in silence and song, and allowing our
voices to respond to and express even shadowy areas "below the
ground". Energy flows easily and we are revitalized when we release
whatever sounds are ready to be released. I'll still offer voice warm-
ups and vocal techniques - which can support your voice long after
you leave. Still, this Sunday's playshop will be a sort of
“restorative” voice class to leave us feeling refreshed, nourished
and connected to the deep earth and roots within. All are welcome.
Please let me know by Saturday night if you plan to attend by calling
(206) 412-3745 or emailing ginasala@.... You can also call Sunday
at (206)412-3745 if you get this message late. Special arrangements
can always be made so no one turned away.

And finally, my Gramcracker (Grandma) used to sing me this poem. I
hear her tender voice- I thought I'd share it with you! - Gina

TREES

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree

A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray,

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair

Upon whose blossom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems were made by fools like me
But only God can make a tree.

By Joyce Kilmer

Peace and Gratitude in the One
Gina
