The 4th Asmorod CD is a fascinating, introspective, deep ambient work that
distinguishes itself from the mass of uniform dark ambient releases. Niiko (now
the only member of Asmorod) used the word Hysope (French word for "Hyssop") as a
symbol of spiritual purification. In ancient times, Hyssop was used for the
cleansing of lepers (Leprosy may represent sin... but lepers were not
necessarily sinful) and used for cleaning sacred places. It is alluded to in the
Scriptures: 'Purge me with Hyssop, and I shall be clean' (Purify me from my
sins, and i will be clean; wash me, and i will be whiter than snow. Psalms

(Bardoseneticcube) and a laptop, dealing with theory of Russian scientist
Vladimir Vernadsky about collective consciousness, emerging from the interaction

reaching maximum concentration, comes as the one long track, designed for your
mind challenge. Potsukailo uses a kind of feedback circuit, adding the elements

BLINDHÆD - 'Whether That Will Make People Want To Become Archaeologists, We'll
Have To See' 12"

The first release on this Belgian label is a single-sided , 20-minute 12" from
Blindhæd. Abstract, musique concrete and experimental sounds, citing their
influences as Lull, Asmus Tietchens, Phill Niblock etc. "The slight metallic
rumble, the same subaquatic sound processing, the debris of contact microphone
rumble. It seems to be dealing less with field recordings, and more with the
electronic layering of various concrete actions and sounds, which shift along
each other in quite an intelligent way. One can sense that there is quite some
time and effort in this piece, since it flows subtle and moves into various

"The Eighth Pillar" was the first full length release by UK Power Electronics
outfit Con-Dom back in 1991 (SFCR). The CD is inspired by the life, writings and
example of British author T.E. Lawrence - an enigmatic outsider who lived a
tortured odyssey of physical and spiritual extremes in search of his own
personal faith. The name of the CD derives from his book called "The Seven
Pillars of Wisdom." The powerful sounds and strong vocals give a good impression
on how torturing the life of Lawrence must have been. Con-Dom explores every
kind of social tension with an acidic, violent and uncompromising attitude.
Those who missed the LP version must see this record as a milestone or just a
simple must! Contains the same booklet artwork from the original release.

LAMA SONAM DORJE & ANTON BATAGOV - 'Daily Practice' CD (Tummo Productions) -
£10 / £11 / £12



This album is an unique collaboration between a composer Anton Batagov and Lama
Sonam Dorje, the first Russian Buddhist practitioner who spent 7 years in
Himalayas in a strict solitary retreat. After the retreat he received permission
and blessing for teaching Dharma in Russia. Lama Sonam Dorje chose eight
canonical texts and recorded all of them, along with a dzogchen meditation on a
sound 'A,' in the studio. Batagov then composed an instrumental accompaniment,
along with two textless instrumental pieces: an introduction, and music for
daily meditation. In these compositions he used the rhythmic structure of
traditional Tibetan prosody. These rhythmic patterns are usually heard in
Tibetan prayers.





LAURENT PERRIER - 'As Far As' CD (Sound On Probation) - £10.50 / £11.50 /

Created for Alban Richard’s choreographic show of the same name, “As Far
As” is a sound structure built on classical music samples, off beat loops,
collages, quotations. The album starts with a long, minimal, repetitive track,
reminding one of some of Charlemagne Palestine’s work. Emotion prevails on
abstraction, a long heady, cinematic development, a play on volumes and
contrasts like hesitating between total anguish and peaceful contemplation. The
musical form thus created is the prelude to an almost apocalyptic noise swoop
which, in an oddly beautiful manner, finally transforms itself into a collage of
orchestrated violins, illusion of infinity meeting a most abrupt end. Digipak.
