The Half-Dozen you need:

This week:  Hello folks! We have a wild one for you this week, so hold onto
your horses!! The first release is on Artoffact Records and is the CD version
(including THREE bonus tracks!!) of the third Alice in Videoland album, She's A
Machine. Yes, it's amazing! This limited edition version comes with two
exclusive Alice in Videoland buttons, a free remix download, and the Artoffact
Records Volume 1 CD!! This version of the CD will not be released digitally, so
get it here before the limited runs out! Next up is a real suprise from Some
Bizzare Records. Although this came out in the summer, it's not too late to pick
up a copy of the new Lucid Sketchmaster and be blown away by a combination
of beats, rap, hip hop, noise, and industrial that blends together for one of
the coolest new sounds we've heard in ages! The CD is a bit on the pricy side
but worth every penny! Don't miss out! COP International continues their streak
of brutal EBM
releases with C-Lekktor, a new find from Mexico that is sure to bring the
dancefloor maniac out in you! We also added four new releases from Hands
Productions in anticipation of the Hands Festival in Toronto later this year.
Now you can pre-order titles from MS Gentur, Orphx, Mono No Aware, and
Geistform! Trisol is also pumping out gothic and EBM releases, and they won't
stop in the new year! January sees the release of the new Punto Omega, Pilori,
and Ostara CDs! Two new compilations are arriving shortly from Germany: the
soundtrack to Vampire Diary features the likes of Blutengel, Fields of
Nephilim, Sara Noxx, and more! And the second volume of Storfrequenz comes out
soon featuring more EBM-noise-based artists such as Modulate, SAM, Moctan, Last
Days Of SEX, and more!! Like I said, it's a huge week in music...enjoy the
goods!! Read on...

*****THIS WEEK'S MUST-HAVE RELEASE !

ALICE IN VIDEOLAND "SHE'S A MACHINE - LIMITED (BONUS TRACKS)"
EXCLUSIVE BUTTONS, A FREE TRACK DOWNLOAD, 3 BONUS TRACKS, AND MORE!!
One of Sweden’s absolutely finest bands when it comes to hard electronic pop
are finally back again with the brand new album She’s a Machine. This time
with a harder sound, developed around synthetic and organic instruments, less
guitars, more edge, more beat and better than ever!! Alice In Videoland once
again prove that their unique combination of crossover punk-rock-electronica,
saturated with fine melodic harmonies and pop choruses stands tall, without any
competition. The attitude and bombast in Toril’s lead vocals is one of a kind,
and this album will surely bring down the house wherever, whenever played.
The album opens with blasting bass on the title track She’s a Machine, and
Toril let’s you know right away what the score is as she chants “you
wouldn’t want to wait up for her…” And she’s right! The energy is
relentless as the album progresses through instant hits MF, the new single Numb,
and the playful Who’s That Boy. Toril gets down and dirty on Weird Desire, and
the album ends with three bonus tracks not available on the digital version:

PUNTO OMEGA "NOCHE OSCURA DEL ALMA"
The Argentinian electro-heroes PUNTO OMEGA celebrate the dark night of the soul.
In tormentingly fatalistic songs, delivered in aggressive Spanish, they follow
the path of those upon the eternal search for truth and freedom. This path is
lined with crises, conflict, humiliation and manipulation. ‘Noche Oscura del
Alma’ (The Dark Night of the Soul) is the moment of the absolute nadir, from
which one emerges strengthened. Only afterwards is one able to find his or her
true identity. The music of the exotic dark-electro duo is stamped through with
this existentialism and deliberately confronts the gentle listener with a
merciless strength: lashing, razor-sharp beats raining down, industrial-inspired
noise, catchy keyboard passages and the demonic vocals create an unforgettable
mixture which no fan of the genre will be able to resist. PUNTO OMEGA move
between HOCICO und WUMPSCUT and the epic atmospherics of VNV NATION but yet
offer more: a whole range of
dancefloor-compatible hits and occasional hints of martial bombast and sinister
atmospherics. Even neo-classical elements and acoustic guitars can be heard.
With their album ‘Noche Oscura del Alma’ the new Latin American forerunners
of hard electronic anthems set forth their dark philosophy, in which each true
seeker may recognise themselves. Stirring electronics, every once in a while
stamped with a dreadful coldness, but at the same time passionately and
seductively monumental. A long yearned-for inferno, after which the rebirth will
unquestionably follow. Released on Trisol and available January 25th, 2009.

OSTARA "THE ONLY SOLACE"
The callers in the storm are back. After two excursions into the field of
alternative guitar rock, the British-Australian formation around Richard Levy
has remembered its true strengths and with 'The Only Solace' has produced a
breath takingly beautiful neofolk album which catapults OSTARA right back to the
spearhead of the genre. Fatalistic lyrics full of abysmal thoughts, executed
with sensitive vocals, carried by captivating melodies and crystal clear
acoustic guitar accords. Far removed from cheap effect and unreflected symbolic
games, OSTARA creates a magical animist world under the spell of a tragic past
and faced with an uncertain future. In their mystical world view they penetrate
time and open the view for unforeseen connectivities. In this context many
lyrics are revealed as traps, and mundane experiences take a cruel twist. Levy's
lyrics surround the listener with comforting atmospheres and metaphors, a
quality that is unique in the area of
neofolk, just to awake the listener in an ungentle manner from sleep to reason.
Our buildings are already ruins. When the rustle of the masses turns into noise,
the cry of the individual appears like a tentative murmur in the wind. Hardly
any other band understands how to express the silent tragic and heroic of the
awakened individual so powerfully. And OSTARA deserves to be listened to.
Released on Trisol and available January 25th, 2009.

PILORI "UNTIL THE DAY DAWN"
PILORI are back! Many years ago, the charismatic band from Seligenstadt, Germany
established themselves across genres with their unique ethereal style of folk
and cast a spell over gothic, neo-classical and neofolk audiences alike. With
‘Until The Day Dawn’, PILORI present the high point of their career so far.
A complex work, steeped in dense atmospheres, catchy melodies, ritualistic
rhythms and above all the beautiful female vocals which have always placed the
band in a league of their own. On ‘Until The Day Dawn’, the acoustic
elements are balanced out with some emphasis on electronic sounds and indeed
poppy passages without ever being untrue to their own style. An ascent into the
spheres of dreams, deliberately clouded by the frequencies of a world in
decline. Ethereal, sacral romanticism meets dark nihilism. With elegiac viola
melodies and sorrowful male vocals, one is reminded of the glory years of
CURRENT 93. With clear-as-glass ethereal
vocals, singer Marion reminds one of the bygone era of heavenly voices. But
PILORI create their own world from nature mysticism and a sceptical questioning
of the world around them. With ‘Until The Day Dawn’, PILORI present the sum
total of their career, performed with multilingual lyrics in German, English,
French and Hebrew and with melancholy guitar chords, lamentful strings,
well-dispensed percussion and seductive keyboard melodies. From melancholy
neofolk (‘The Icononclast’) to neo-classical (‘Fallen Angels Chois’),
ritual music (‘Last Wolf’s Howling’) up to 1980s new wave music
(‘Love’s Labour Lost’) innumerable influences can be found here. ‘Until
The Day Dawn’ finally proves PILORI’s unique status in the German
alternative music scene. Released on Trisol and available January 25th, 2009.
