KATZENJAMMER KABARETT "GRAND GUIGNOL & VARIETES"
RECOMMENDED BY STORMING THE BASE!!
Katzenjammer Kabarett, a young French four-piece, returns with their second
release - Grand-Guignol & Variétés- and a firmer pop approach mixing
incredible stories and catchy melodic hooks. Be it deathrock, electro, punk or
dark-cabaret, they are here to charm you, seduce you, and leave you merrily
twitching to their infectious songs. About the musical style, perhaps the best
is to guess it for yourself! Mary Komplikated's sultry vocals ride atop their
Dadaesque, Avant-Garde blend of sounds: the din created by Herr Katz, Klischee
and Mr. Guillotine. On this follow-up to their 2006 debut (reissued on Projekt),
Katzenjammer Kabarett (this French band with a German name and English lyrics)
shows their sensibility for the diletante and frivolous aesthetic of several
past movements. Their compositions revel in varied and various collages,
utilizing electronic, pop, deathrock, and classical-music sounds as well as
traditional cabaret songs to generate the
peculiar atmosphere one probably found in old fashioned Lieder (the German art
songs from the Nineteenth-century). A considerable part of their work comes from
second-hand elements borrowed from several preceding movements and styles, but
whose signs had been systematically altered and distorted. Thus, the music
composed by Klischee, supported by H.K..'s lyrics and Mr. Guillotine's necessary
pragmatism, creates an alchemy with the carefree Miss Mary K's voice and
theatrical singing which embodies all the magic, the cynism and the absurdity of

UNHEILIG "PUPPENSPIEL LIVE - VORHANG AUF! - DVD"
Their perfect concoction of electronic and rock has enthralled thousands of
European fans since 1999. The single “Sage Ja!” was released on Bloodline
Records in 1999, shot straight into the German DAC charts and became a club
smash. Unheilig have released since a number of highly successful albums
(Phosphor - deleted, Frohes Fest, Das 2. Gebot, Zelluloid, Moderne Zeiten,
Puppenspiel) and a first DVD (Kopfkino) in 2005. Demand for a new DVD and
live-album was huge, seen the incredible chart-success of their latest album
'Puppenspiel' in their homecountry Germany, where the album charted at Number 13
in it's first week of release! 'Vorhang auf' was recorded and filmed in Berlin
during their recent Puppenspieler Tour and the DVD entered the official German
charts at Number 3 in it's first week of release! Released on Four Rock and

KATZENJAMMER KABARETT "DEBUT"
A reissue of their 2006 debut. Referring to themselves as “Deathrock
Cabaret,” they might be more correctly classified as post-punk cabaret, for
their influences can be found in styles from deathrock, baroque, new-wave,
electronic to classical. This Parisian act is fronted by the charming, seductive
Mary Komplikated. Katzenjammer Kabarett is a young and promising band from
Paris, consisting of Mary Komplikated, Herr Katz, Klischee and Mr Guillotine.
Indeed, the idea of the cabaret as they conceive it, must be linked to the
conception the founders of the Cabaret Voltaire, or of other European artistic
avant-garde cabarets of the 1910s-1920s. Their compositions, by the means of
varied and various collages, are an attempt to reveal the peculiar atmosphere
one could have found in early avant-garde circles. To sum up, a considerable
part of their work comes from second-hand elements, borrowed from preceding
movements and styles, but whose signs have been

The mind is a mystery of thoughts and fluidly shifting collected memories. There
are many thoughts which form complete stories, while others are mere threads
with no beginning or ending. The flow of ideas is energetic, pulsating and often
in dramatic contrast. In the same manner, Stream of Thought escorts us with
cinematic precision through the mind’s uncountable destinations. Organic
electronic and new ambient sonic boundaries effortlessly dissolve on Stream of
Thought. With the combined experience of these two veteran electronic composers,
this collaboration flows with an agility of emotion and intellect in fluid
interplay; minimalist-inspired melodic tapestries, pulsing trance passages, deep
drone drifts, and surreal soundscapes morph into cloud-like forms: a constant
state of sonic evolution. The results stand apart from the extended immersive
long-form tracks of Steve’s recent releases. While Stream of Thought is
presented as a continuous flow
of 19 interconnected pieces, the metaphor of sitting on a stream’s edge under
full engagement with the present moment is the appropriate context to experience
the fluid ebb and mercurial flow of this living, streaming soundworld. A

MANTUS "REQUIEM "
“Totgeglaubte leben länger!” The years of uncertainty and silence are over.
This could well be the surprise of the year! ‘Requiem’: the new album from
MANTUS. A requiem mass? An obituary? No! For in the silent darkness a light
shines on the horizon. True to the German motto that those presumed to be dead
live longer, ‘Requiem’ really is a new album from MANTUS. A resurrection of
the dead. Nobody knows what happened in the previous years. A creative pause?
Dissolution and reinvention? The ‘obituary’ becomes a glance into the
future: to a new beginning; a rebirth. Martin Schindler and Thalia rise to their
high form of old and easily surpass the high standard of their most recent
releases. In the tradition of German gothic music, almost forgotten in these
times of visual kei, EBM and future pop, they create a dark-romantic gem.
Metallic guitar riffs meet classical arrangements, full strings and piano
chords. Electronic drum sounds mix with
expressive melodies and sacral hymns, joined together with elegiac symphonies,
over which the fascinating interaction of male and female vocals twinkles like a
light shining in the darkness. The accustomed lyrical depth, beyond superficial
clichés, comes across as perfect dark poetry in its purest form. A must-have
not only for MANTUS fans, who surely never counted upon this release. Also those
who like LACRIMOSA and WITT won’t be able to pass up on ‘Requiem’ from
