The Half-Dozen you need:

This week:  Hello, and happy new year to all the Storming the Base customers
out there in musicland!! 2009 kicks off with a selection of releases that are
truly impressive...a few of them are in our non-stop rotation already here at
the HQ, and we cannot wait to share them with you! Check out first the excellent
new Celldweller release, the first one with all new material in a little while,
and certainly one of the coolest releases to come out in a while. Celldweller is
more famous for his head-crunching dancefloor smashing industrial rock, but
here we have several instrumental/soundtrack pieces, all of which deserve your
attention. As if that wasn't enough, we are set to bring you the brand new
album from Project Pitchfork, Dream Tiresias!! This import-only album comes in a
slick digipak and is worth the import price as one of the best Pitchfork albums
in memory! Our friends at The End records are busy as usual discovering great
new music for
us all. The latest in awesome finds is Dirty Little Rabbits who release their
first EP this month. Call it metal, call it rock, call it experimental,
alternative, electronic. It's really, really great; go to Myspace, have a
listen, and come back here to order! Mindless Self Indulgence gives us a new
single from their last album If. This features probably the two best songs from
that album, Evening Wear and Mark David Chapman, as well as a brand new song and
a video. Essential for fans! But there's more in the Storming the Base bunker!
Attrition releases a new album, and we also have an exclusive and limited
new self-release from the master of comedic Goth, Voltaire. Larva, a new EBM
band on Advoxya, has a new album. Out of Line gives us a new album from
Kirlian Camera and also finally delivers the long lost And One covers
album, Bobypop 1.5 which features covers of “Blue Monday”, “Big In
Japan” and “The Sun Always Shines On TV"!!!
Tympanik delivers a new 2CD compilation in their Emerging Organisms
series. New Japanese electronic-industrial label Deathwatch Asia drops
an awesome compilation that's worth checking out (comes in a triple
digi-pak!!).   Read on...

MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE "EVENING WEAR / MARK DAVID CHAPMAN"
Mindless Self Indulgence will release the split single, "Evening Wear / Mark
David Chapman" on Jan 19th (UK) and 20th (N. America). Their previous singles,
"Never Wanted To Dance" and "Pay For It" have both debuted #1 on the Billboard
Hot Singles Sales Chart. This new single will include a video of the song, "Mark
David Chapman" and the previously unreleased song, "Written In Cold Blood". Here
are some brief descriptions of the audio content of the upcoming single by Mr.
Urine, himself: Released on The End and available January 20th, 2009.
1) Evening Wear
Fashion is an expression of who you are. But it can  also be a uniform that
traps you in a skin that isn't really you.
2) Written In Cold Blood (previously unreleased)
Writing a song is like writing a blank check.. what ever  subject someone
writes about the audience  will always think it is 100 percent
autobiographical.... So be careful what u write because some checks you can't
cash
3) Mark David Chapman
If John Lennon is the god of music then it stands to reason that Mark David
Chapman is the devil .. right now all music is stagnate and horrible and
overpopulated with crap that never fails bad enough to go away... so I think it
is time to pull out the big guns and have the devil eradicate the earth of all
these cookie cutter, bullshit acts.

***** HOT PRE-ORDERS!!

ATTRITION "KILL THE BUDDHA!"
Sultry rhythms, driving electronics, operatic female vocals and grave male
vocals combine in the intense dance macabre that is an Attrition live show. Kill
The Buddha! captures the band on their 25th Anniversary tour, performing songs
split equally between their most recent studio release, Dante's Kitchen, and
hits that span Attrition's solid career. Main man, songwriter, electronic player
and vocalist Martin Bowes is joined by American vocalist Laurie Reade,
complemented by keyboard/synth players including Ned Kirby of Stromkern.
Recorded on Attrition’s extensive anniversary tour of Europe, America and
Mexico over 2006 – 2007. Compiled and mastered by Martin from direct-to-stereo
recordings from the mixing board, Kill The Buddha! is a live momento as well as
a documentation of a brilliant electronic band in their prime. Released on
Projekt and available January 27th, 2009.

VOLTAIRE "TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA"
Gypsy punk, dark cabaret, sea shanties and Steampunk collide on the new CD by
the original Gothic renaissance man and his skeletal orchestra of gypsy pirates.
After 10 years of releasing CDs through Projekt Records, Voltaire embarks on his
first self-released studio album. And what a journey it is! Somewhere between
concept record and full-blown musical, To The Bottom of the Sea tells the tale
of a gypsy tinker and his tumultuous journey from his homeland in the mountains
of Vorutania, to a watery grave at the ocean depths. Back are Voltaire's
signature gypsy violins and celtic rhythms (provided by long-time mates Kitzis,
Goeke and Sorino). But new to the line-up is an accordion player, Franz Nicolay
(World Inferno Friendship Society, The Hold Steady, Guignol) that catapults each
track clean into the realm of gypsy punk (and piratey sea shanties on the second
half of the disc). Also guesting on this CD is a cadre of all-stars from the
gypsy punk scene
including Johnny Kalsi (Firewater, The Dhol Foundation) on percussion, Ruet
Regev (Firewater) on trombone, and Luminescent Orchestrii string players Sarah
Alden and Rima Fand. The result is a turn-of-the-century romp sure to delight
pirates, Steampunks and gypsies. Now shipping.

LARVA "VOCE DEL LABERINTO"
Final release of Advoxya in 2008 – the album „Voces Del Laberinto" from
Spanish band LARVA. Band exists from 1998 and already has several albums,
released by its own force or within the short-live deals with other labels. The
cold adjusted sound directs associations with the visual row of the classical
horror movies, fast enough and supplied with slow, forcing the gloomy atmosphere
sonic sculptures, album should be listened due one breathe. It carries along the
listener into the world of fear and endlessness, reflecting the common panic of
the surrounding world. Must-have category for all fans of traditional electronic
body music. Released on Advoxya.

KIRLIAN CAMERA "SHADOW MISSION HELD V"
Kirlian Camera are out on a mission! On their new 11-track special-price album
“Shadow Mission HELD V”, Italian cult-group Kirlian Camera embarks on an
extraordinary sonic journey that will pave the way for “Odyssey Europa”, a
comprehensive retrospective set due for release later this year. Centrepiece of
the new mini album is a modern and seriously club-compatible re-invention of the
group’s classic hit “Heldenplatz” plus an array of new songs that can
easily stand in line with some of Kirlian Camera’s biggest classics. On tracks
like “E.D.O.”, the band mingles memorable melodies with powerful electronics
and an irrepressible lust for sonic experimentation, all carried by the
impressive vocal presence of Elena Alice Fossi. The songs are about space
exploration and going beyond the surface of what we believe to know and,
reflected in a musical approach that works on a multitude of different levels.
Elena and Angelo Bergamini have
created a dense net of electronic sounds that will pull you into their unique
atmosphere but that will work on a dance floor just as well, while still
retaining the spirit and feeling of the classic Kirlian-Camera-hits. The shadow
mission is rounded off by some previously unreleased mixes and rarities.
“Shadow Mission HELD V” will be released on Compact Disc in a deluxe
Digipak, limited to 1000 copies and as a luxurious picture vinyl with an altered
track listing, strictly limited to 500 copies. There are very few music acts in
the Electro scene that would pass as being truly unique… but Kirlian Camera
are certainly one of them. Released on Out of Line and available January 26th,
2009.

AND ONE "BODYPOP 1½"
Steve Naghavi couldn’t help but noticing that large parts of today’s club
crowds had no more knowledge of the ground breaking Synth Pop Hits of the
Eighties – which awakened a missionary instinct in And One’s restless front
man. Thus, the guys thoroughly naghavigated an illustrious collection of genre
classics, from “Blue Monday” and “Big In Japan” to “The Sun Always
Shines On TV.” A big tour through Germany’s biggest concert halls followed
and now we can reap the fruits of this labour on CD, as well: “Bodypop 1 ½”
features nine of the biggest classics of electronic Pop music in And One’s
patented SuperDuperCoverLoverSound, with a whole lot of live flavour mingled in.
But, don’t fret, the guys were also generous with material of their own and
have included the new songs “Und Wenn”, “Paddy Is My DJ” and “Love Is
A Drug Abuser” plus old and previously unreleased versions of “Love You To
The End” (the song is
now about Depeche Mode!) and “So klingt Liebe” (a six minute long version
sporting a totally different mood!) “Bodypop 1 ½” – music education
turned into a silver disc! Come join us in Naghavi-land – because life I.S.T.
too short for bad music! Released on Out of Line and available January 30th,
2009.

VARIOUS "DARKER WATERS: DEEPER INTO THE JAPANESE UNDERGROUND"
Volume 2 of the innovative J-scene compilation: the best-selling DARK WATERS!
'DARKER WATERS - Deeper Into The Japanese Underground' takes the best-selling
DARK WATERS concept to new heights...or should that be '(previously unplumbed)
depths'? Casting the net wider than before, DWA has sought out a diversity of

alternative rock style of Tokyo's GADGET 'Lost Avalon' to the experimental
electronica of Kobe's SUNAO INAMI 'Farm Machines And Implements'. And of course
DARKER WATERS is also awash with brand new material from Deathwatch Asia artists
like DESPAIR, SINS OF THE FLESH and sawDUST IN ME, other artists familiar to
European audiences from
touring like BAAL, THE ROYAL DEAD and GOTHIKA (ex-EUTHANASIE)...and the debut
recordings from new acts like LILLIES AND REMAINS and THE NEUTRON EGO TAPE!
