Dear Yahoo! Groups Members,

Due to a recent outbreak of computer viruses being transmitted via
email messages, Yahoo! Groups is experiencing delays in delivering

of viruses, Yahoo! Groups has had to temporarily reject some

Based on an advisory posted by a leading anti-virus company, Groups
will temporarily reject messages with the following subject lines:

Error If you have attempted to post a message to Yahoo! Groups and
have received a rejection notice with a link to this page, your
computer may have been infected. If you are confident that your
computer is not infected but your message was rejected, please try
posting a new message with a subject line which is different than
those listed above.

We can assure you that this is only a temporary measure and hope to

I'm a huge fan of Blind Melon, I love all their albums all the way
through. I think they are horribly underrated...and Shannon was
brilliant. It's just to bad his life had to end too soon, I think
the band could have gone far. I remember when I found out he
died...It was so sad and Blind Melon was one of the only bands I
listened to for a long time after that. The club discription was
even sad to read, I almost cried.

LOL...This sounds like some sort of trap! Nice, sweet bait in an ungly
mysterious box. How about if I just listen to No Rain while staring at a Pepsi
can? Is it a similar effect?

Latest from the Odyssey:

"The Way I See It...part 3

If you didn't jump on the Global Warming train, maybe you'll be more inclined to
the new epidemic: Global Dimming, soot in the snow making less sun able to shine
through. Billions of pieces of ice falling from heaven would make it a little
dimmer, but I think that is expected. These so-called threats to our
civilization are more like fads than actual concerns. Oh, I believe in Global
Dimming alright, but I don't believe for a second that we're loosing light.
People's minds are dimming. This epidemic itself is proof of that. Nature has
its own religion.

Nature has its own religion. Gospel from the land. Going deep into the
wilderness has some definite impact on the mind. It reprograms who you are and
what you are supposed to be. But I always feel this deep saddness when I first
walk out and catch site of what we call civil. It's enough to make me fake an
oil leak.

It's enough to make me fake an oil leak. I hate this time of year. All these
hateful pagans running around buying up everything their greedy contemporaries
desire. You can prove the fact that God hates X-Mas as much as I do just by
watching how these people drive and treat one another. Two women got into a fist
fight in the toy section of WalMart last year over a Tonka truck. Where's the
love?!

Where's the love?! I told you help was needed. You said you'd
call. But weeks have now passed. I don't know if I'm sinking or the water has
gotten deeper, but I could use a hand anchored on the shore. Nevermind throwing
that [insert curse of your choice here]life ring. Jump in and grab on. No, I
know, you are too busy building your hierarchy. "We got to the top by putting
you first." Humans are so arrogant.

Humnas are so arrogant. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the
earth..." -Genesis 1:1. The human race seems to think that before that moment
there was only God and nothingness since the eternal beginning. Arrogance! That
beginning is talking about OUR beginning. It doesn't say what he created before
that. We don't need to know. You think if God has been around for eternity this
is all He made? Come on! God made Adam and Eve in a giant petri dish. Next to
that dish sits another one where he made Jack and Diane. Next to that He made
John and Yoko and so on. Once He had created a universe around each couple, He
tossed in a damning agent to give them a single test. In our case it was a tree
painted in desire by a serpent. We failed the test. Meanwhile, John and Yoko
stayed away from the tree and they have been living in peace and perfection with
millions of children for thousands of years, maybe aeons. John and Yoko always
did like being naked. Jack and his Bobby Brooked Queen may have slipped up like
we did. At least that's the way I see it.

I so agree with you bolan747! It's awesome to hear
Shannon's voice pop up 'out of the blue'. I generally,
unconciously, block out commercials. I hear Shannon's
voice and the commercial is suddenly there, in front
of me, in full clarity. I'm happy to hear Blind Melon
songs being played anywhere. I don't hear them on the
radio, nor the music video channels, only my own cds
and now one commercial. God bless Pepsi (who also
sponsored Spank The Monkey, Tantric, and Default at
Bayfest in Mobile, AL a few months back.
www.spankweb.com)for this new, awesome video, as well
as who all made the agreements to let the song be
used!!
Happy holidays to all!!

sure it's saddening, but when you take lsd you have
lost touch with most all of reality. He had just got
out of rehab and had been clean for around 3 months. So
when you take it after being clean for a while your
going to trip even harder. He said,it's woodstock it
was a one time thing.Which most people at that point
finally were believing.I'm surprised he did as well as
he did.I thought it was a great show...

So, um, does this list then condone drug use? And if
so, how do you stop the whole death thing?

What's wrong with good grammar? The message board I
frequent ( http://spinnoff.com/bb ) loves the stuff.

Well, for instance, let's say I was talking about my belt for some reason. I

That's 1) making fun of him, and thus funny 2) nice, because he's not nearly

I don't think Shannon would say drugs weren't cool or fun. If he did then he
would be a hypocrite. If Shannon had been stabbed to death, I wouldn't stop
using sharp knives to cut my tomatoes. Just because some guy doesn't pull his
ripcord in time doesn't mean I should stop jumping out of airplanes. Of course
Shannon hated being a drug addict. No one wakes up and says, "Hey! I want to
get hooked on drugs!" But hating being an addict and hating drugs are two
different things. The world is a vampire hanging from a burning bush with a
milkstasche on his bottom lip saying, "Got milk?" I have no dice. Roll 'em
high. Blay Delovi. Ma Ma Ka Ne No A Wah Ay Ah.

Amen! How can everyone here condone drug use and then in the same email talk
about how much you miss Shannon. Hey there, news flash, we lost Shannon because
he did drugs. Lots of them. My friend Shannon was the life of the party. But let
me give you a word of advice, Shannon wanted to quit drugs. Shannon hated being
a drug addict and wanted to quit everyday. Do you think that Shannon wanted to
die? To be cool? Or maybe just to live, make music, and watch his kid grow. If
Shannon could have quit drugs he would have. And if Shannon could speak to us
from the grave he would tell you that drugs aren't cool or fun.

Love you all,
Nikki

   Nikki,
  I don't condone drug use at all.Pot,shrooms,and lsd I
put into a different catagory.Because you can't die
from them. Can you have problems later on in life? Yes.
I know personally for a fact,myself I'm slower in
thing's I do,math,tests,etc...It has to be from drugs.
I'm 33 when I was a kid you walked into my backyard
there was tons of pot plants. I grew up around it and
thought everyone did it,until I mentioned it at school
where my mother was a teacher. She was so pissed when
I got home, but how is a kid suppossed to know it's
wrong when your parent's smoke pot,do
barbituates,shrooms,peyote,cocaine,lsd,X?I had no clue
I didn't see anything bad in it,since nothing bad ever
happened around me. So I went the same course trying
anything I could. The worst thing's I've seen are
around alcohol
and cigarettes are the worst drugs their are.My
opinion of course. They cause more deaths than all
drugs combined. I totally Agree with you Shannon
wanted to stop drugs to raise his baby girl. And live a
nice life with his girlfriend and child/children.But I
Disagree with you that most melons are against
drugs.Go to Blindmelon.com and read their message
board.Every week
and weekend they talk about drugs and getting
wasted. Then even go to his vigil and do that with
Shannon's family there. That's an insult to the whole
Hoon family.I don't know how Shannon's mother deals
with that part at all. I'm going to the vigil next
year and will do no drugs or drink.I want to pay my
respects
to him and his family.People say, oh that's what
Shannon would want.I don't think so. Have you been to
a vigil?
For me personally I've had people ask me what this
drug does or that drug? And I'll tell them but it's up
to them whether they make the choice to do drugs.
For me personally I do drugs to not feel anything, the
stupidist reason too.But in the last year+.I've lost
my job(UPS Driver),filed for bankruptcy,and my life
sucks
right now,I can't even get a job a Taco Bell,there not
hiring.So yes I feel like I've failed, 8+year's at
that job and I get laid off. But you go to the
blindmelon board and there are people who have posted
that I was FIRED!!! NOT!!! They don't have a fucking
clue of what happened, they live across the US.I told
someone I was pulled off route and drug tested, because
my eyes are always red since I don't produce enough
tears and the pills they gave me for cluster migraines
made me slower. So of course I PASSED my drug test. They
don't even know anything abou me.I've done more drugs
in the past year than I did working at UPS.
So I have that on top of everything where everyone
liked me on the board to no one will even respond to
what I say. They'll copy stuff I say but that's it.
No one mentioned Brad Smith's B-Day until I did. And I
put down in Dre's Galaxie. Since I found one where I
live and will actually own the car.Now 3 people just
today have used it.But no one will talk to me,does
that make sense?it?I just wanted to be treated
fairly.Like everyone else.That's why I came here
hoping to meet some new friend's who are true genuine
melons.And don't lie,backstab, and think they know
everything.I'm to old for that shit.I don't think I'm
a bad person people just don't think for themsleves,or
bother to find out the truth.I met some people last
weekend and they said, they didn't like this person. But
the next day you read oh yeah,I love you ,you are the
greatest.I don't want sympathy,just some true
friend's.It'll be hard next year, but I'm going to the
vigil knowing about 3 people who will like me out of
200,maybe.But I have every right to go, so I'm going.
If you ever want to talk you can e-mail me if you'd
like. You seem really cool right to the point. No
bullshit!!! I'll listen to what you have to say and
usually have an opinion.Everyone does,it doesn't make
me right.I make plenty of mistakes and I can admit it.

Love you all,
Nikki

He
went in for Alcohol,Cocaine abuse.Yes he used heroin
but he also stated it was his least favorite drug he'd
ever used.
I also have to agree with the person above, that there
is a line between use and abuse.Where I live CA, you
can use heroin recreationaly. It doesn't matter if your
artistic minded or not. It's your choice.Your called a
Jolly Pop-
Causual user of heroin.Nickel bag-$5.00 worth of
drugs;
heroin/slammer.Sniffer bag-$5.00 bag of heroin
intended for inhalation.Or Nose Drops-$25.00 Liquified
heroin.Looks like little bath soaps the tops turn off
and you sniff it.The best way or sniffer bags. And yes
you can die very easily from any of these average
bag/nose drops is 20-35% pure. You get one batch
someone didn't cut maybe cause they needed to get rid
of it.It's 40-65% pure and you will OD and most likely
die.So those are your chances you choose to take.No
one forced me or anyone else to do anything and also
these drugs are alot cheaper and last alot longer than
natural drugs. If you do it on the weekend you'll feel
shitty for a day, that's it.Unless you learn to control
it.If you can't control LSD,definitely don't do
heroin. And don't do it either way it can/will destroy
your life.:(:(:(
I think the war on drugs is stupid, you will never get
rid of drugs. What you have to get rid of is the WANT.
How you do that I don't know? But putting people in
prison for useing drugs is very stupid. You can get
what ever you want in prison and you'll usually end up
slamming/shooting cause it's easier to get away with.
And everything is reused without bleaching.I know this
from friend's and myself.Never been in prison,or
slammed,I'm a Jolly Pop.So what's your take on getting
rid of the want before someone does it?Mine is to make
it legal, like in Amsterdam. They have the lowest crime
rate,prison population,and drug use per capita.Why
because it's regulated, not because they got rid of the
want.So alot of people don't get addicted since it's
such a low product that they don't.Just my take.
Education,threats,prison,death,doesn't work.Kids and
adults alike think their invincible. It won't happen to
me.It wouldn't suprise me or anyone in my family or
work if I OD'd and died.I have a very self-destructive
personality,a binger until I'm sick of it.
So what would be your advice to that???

Frell I didn't mean to piss anyone off. It was an
honest question that I had intended to deliver in a
light-hearted manner. I am sorry if I stepped on toes.
And I'm sorry if I'm over reacting to the reply.

I was especcially surprised because the Blind
Melon/Shannon Hoon fans I meet tend to be extra
against drugs because that's how he died.

Personally I've just allways been really curious, and
just want an honest explanation of just how bad drugs
really are and how much I need to worry (seeing as
I've considered using some, if I could get some).
Stopping the whole death thing isn't retarded if you
honestly think/thought, as I did, that you can drop
dead from any and all drugs, after even mild use.
Well, all except pot. Let's face it, in school they
don't tell you some drugs are ok under certain
circumstances.

So, um, does this list then condone drug use? And if
so, how do you stop the whole death thing?

What's wrong with good grammar? The message board I
frequent ( http://spinnoff.com/bb ) loves the stuff.

sure it's saddening, but when you take lsd you have
lost touch with most all of reality.

Bein on stage at Woodstock and on LSD kind of go hand in hand I think....Im
sure Shannon was aware of the spirit world, and LSD probably brought them into
the light for him, causing him to go off...I can only imagine being in the
same position, feeling Hendrix and all those cats occupying the same space and
then reacting, head full of acid, wanting to get people riled up, make them
realize where they were at, so naturally (in his mind) throwing drums into the
audience seemed like a perfectly natural thing to do.......i think that set was
easily one of the best at that particular Woodstock event, and all the bands
who fronted like they belonged there but really SUCKED didnt get shit across to
anybody....Blind Melon was a link to the past, and acid allows for time travel
and access to the spirit world, so if youre into rock n roll that spirit
world is pretty deep and full of fabulous ghosts...

Hey Dre,

I'm 28.

Control. You're right. LSD can be cool when a person learns how to control it.
I'm not sure just anyone can do that though. I was just getting the hang of it
when I quit. I may have to pick up that torch again sometime.

Hope to see many at the concert tonight. Shannon's memory still
lives on and his fans are showing that this weekend.

Sorry about that I didn't read my post,if I knew it
was that bad I would not have posted. Or pressed spell
check..LOL I don't know your age or anything and drugs
do affect everyone differently.I'm 33 and have taken
LSD that lasted almost 18 hours. At that point your
body wants to stop.I could take another kind and would
trip 3 hours.Overall if I had it over,I would never
have taken that much.But I can't change it now.I've
had some of the most incredible trips ever and
hopefully will never forget. Some horrible trips, babies
burning on the barbaque, etc. That I'd like to forget
but can't.And with food and mailboxes talking to me it
was fun,I was learning how to control it.As far as
concerts,I rarely did LSD,(Pink Floyd).Mostly just
smoked pot or drank. And alcohol ruined more concerts
than I'd care to remember. As far as Blind Melon at
Woodstock,I thought it is an incredible
performance.Shannon was nuts,it was great.I used to
sell LSD in high school and I've estimated I've taken
around 500+you don't have to believe it,but I know
what I've done.So I would just take it before school
again during school. Whenever I could, I loved
LSD,Shrooms,Pot,Speed,Coke,PCP,X(which is hard to find
now)here anyway.I think you get the point.I'd do X
again in a pill form only.Have smoked Heroin and wan't
that impressed.Can't say I wouldn't sniff it,very
stupid but I'd do it.I don't do anything except drink
once in a while now.But if something was put in front
of me,coke,X,I'd probably do it.I can't say no.I live
in CA so drugs are in abundance very easy to get.And
always have been,my Mom was a hippy so always had
everything lying around at parties,etc...So I guess
that's what I was trying to say...

Dre man, what's up?

Was you on acid dude when you typed up that grammatical nightmare? LOL... I'll
stand behind you when you say NOT to try acid if you never have, but my
experiences on trip were completely different.

The only sounds I ever heard were guitar parts in music that weren't actually
there. And, although reality was altered, everythign was still within the
parameters of possiblility. No inanimates talking to me. Drugs always seem to
affect me different than other people. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for
the bad. The only bad trip I ever had was when I threw hern into the mix. Bad
combo for me. Shrooms and weed weren't too good either, but tolerable. I would
never mix them again myself.

To reply to something someone else said a while back: Drugs don't always ake
for a bad musical performance. Someone can be trippin and give the best show
you ever saw because of the drugs. Granted, I know what you mean though, I've
seen plenty of ruined shows, but now that I think about it, alcohol ruined them,
not drugs. Anyway, catch you all later, glad to see the group revived for a
while!

i have the same problem with the whole woodstock thing, people say he was
high but he seems so intelligent you know like he talked to the audience and
everything, he only messed up one song. he was really hyper too.
yea if i could do the same thing karen is doing, not to jump on her idea or

until then i was hoping i could ask a favor. a few years ago i sent
nel a couple of candles to burn for me at the vigil. i'd do the same
thing this year but i don't know if she's still living at the same
address that she gave me. so i was wondering if there would be
someone in this group willing to do the same thing? i'd buy the
candle of course and ship it to you, & all you would have to do is
burn on it the night of the vigil for me. i'd really love it, because
i really really really want to be apart in honoring shannon's life.

the other thing is, i was watching "letters from a porcupine" last
night and everytime i watch it, something about shannon's performance
of "time" at woodstock really disturbs me. especially when he is
shouting "let me go! let me go!" i've always wondered why he said
that. am i the only person here that finds this performance saddening?

okey, lately all my days have been pretty melon-ny. i've been
enjoying their music so much lately. i go through periods where i
don't listen to it for a while & then periods when i totally melon
binge!

i hope everyone else's days have been just as full of melon love!
thanks advance for reading my request, i sure hope someone can do
this favor for me :)
peace!

perhaps i am too psychological and analyze things too much but sure,
he was high at woodstock & he was talking a lot of stuff. but wow,
you can definitely feel the sadness he was feeling underneathe all of
it. it's very sad when he says: "500,000 fed up faces.." like he felt
like he was such a failure. and the whole "let me go" thing,
sometimes i wonder if he was shouting that to God or his drug
addiction? who knows, like i said, i analyze things way too much. by
the way, does anyone here, have the entire peformance of blind melon
at woodstock? i don't know if that's even available but i'm curious.
i would've love to seen their entire performance. how many songs did
they do that day?
