hello Singers,

The 11th Annual Hyde Park All-Day Singing is upon us, this Saturday, October 31st from 10:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.  Please come for a fine day of singing together.  A few reminders:

* Lunch is a potluck event for a large group of hungry people, so please bring food to share.  (Sorry, there will not be warming facilities.)

* If you have loaner books, please bring them.  We'll sing from both the 1991 Denson Sacred Harp and the 2005 Missouri Harmony.

* You can bring a few curious newcomers in the door by posting the attached flyer, forwarding this email, RSVP'ing on Facebook and MeetUp.com, and mentioning the sing to people who may be interested.

* We could use a few extra hands for miscellaneous tasks, so if you can easily arrive a bit early or stay a bit late, or are happy to take on a job during the day, please contact me.

* If you're unfamiliar with the location (see below), allow extra time for navigating through Hyde Park's tangle of one-way streets.

I'm looking forward to seeing many familiar and new faces on Saturday.  If you have any questions or are looking for housing, please contact me.

Sincerely,
Daniel Braithwaite

DIRECTIONS:

We'll sing in the beautiful recital room of Goodspeed Hall (1010 E. 59th St.), hosted by the Music Department on the University of Chicago campus.  Enter the Quadrangle on foot through the passage from 59th Street (one-way Westbound) just before Ellis Avenue, and look for signs to the left.  On Saturdays, ample street parking is available along 59th Street and the adjacent Midway Plaisance.

From Lake Shore Drive, exit at 57th street, continue through two stoplights and a bend in the road, and turn right onto the Midway Plaisance, which is parallel and immediately next to 59th Street.  Look out for Ellis Avenue.

From I-90/94, exit at 55th Street (same as Garfield Boulevard) and go East to Ellis Avenue.  Look out for Ellis after 55th curves through a park, about 10 minutes from the interstate.  Turn right to reach 59th Street.

From Downtown Chicago, the #6 Express Bus picks up on State Street and stops at 59th (on Stony Island Avenue).  Walk about 10 minutes West to Ellis.

Lunch will be in rooms adjoining the recital room, so please bring your food straight to Goodspeed in the morning.
