Welcome to Song-a-day. Our goal here is to allow ourselves to write a song a day for seven days consecutively. This week is for writing songs and having some fun with the process.
** I encourage to do the following during the week:
-Find a time 30-45 minutes everyday you can commit to songwriting.
-Commit to writing a song during that time. If the world is ending Tuesday afternoon when you're supposed to be writing The Horsemen can drag you away singing.
-Drop your usual standards. Avoid attempting to writing anything 'good'
-Have fun, try to write the thing you've always wanted to but thought you never could.
-Forget to invite your critical mind to your songwriting sessions
-Carry a little notebook around with you during the week to collect song ideas/images
-Be kind to yourself. Get plenty of sleep. Enjoy an ice cream/beer/quiet walk alone or whatever else makes you feel happy.
-Add your own helpful ideas to this list :)
I created this group as a place for folks to talk about songwriting and their during the week. You can feel free to post any songs or lyrics you'd like to share with with group to the site. (Songs can be posted under the "Files" link.)
***I discourage song critique during the week and especially on any posting or e-mails to the group. I believe it only gets in the way of the creative process during a week like this. Feel free to post any and all encouragement however.***
Finally if you think you know someone who'd like to give the week a shot, send them a link to the site and invite them along for the ride.
